I like the location of this restaurant. I can eat all the food and then go walk it off at Walmart.

Food was good, service were nice, except one that just ignored me, but I'm very happy with my experience.

Waitresses hover while you eat and there was a long hair in the serving tray when brought to their attention they never removed the contaminated food. Forks were dirty and when I asked for a new fork I got another dirty fork. read more

My son and I went there for the first time on 2/12/2026. We both went to get a plate and after looking around at the food almost everything was either not fresh, over cooked, extremely greasy, very little left or sitting in a pool of goop. We both sat back down and waited 15 minutes for fresh food to come out, nothing. Then another 15 minutes, nothing. Another 15 minutes, nothing. Keep in mind this was approx 5:15 when we arrived. After the 45 minutes we decided to grab something to munch on. Small plate for ea. of us, we ate and another 15 minutes and still nothing fresh and same old minimal greasy over cooked food was still there. During our awful experience I seen people coming in for takeout and leaving with nothing, not surprised there though. Even the UPS guy that sat across from us didn't finish his plate. Being frustrated and both of us starting to feel like vomiting, finally giving up and still paid $30.74 for 2 small plates of horrific food. On our way back to WV son tells me he feels like vomiting and I as well, so I pulled in behind Burger King before we hit 119s and both of us puked our guts out. On another note, 1 of the 3 crab meat wrapped in bacon things had a rather large piece of bone in it. I ordered water as normally do (we don't drink soda) when I go out to eat, but even after a couple sips the water tasted like it was unfiltered tap water. The Cod was bathing in a bunch of water that did not look appetizing either, but did try a small piece, and it had a strong fish taste like it was spoiled or cook and reheated a from days prior. The waitress was prompt and checked for refills which neither of us needed. Still left her a tip though. Oh 1 more thing, they do not accept or give pennies in return. We have frequented All Star for the last 4 years and have noticed the steady decline of the food served there. Pretty hard to make Chinese food taste terrible and they have managed it. My wife found a bone in her chicken and food that tasted like other food in her selection. I was appalled to find that it was a lottery as the whether you were biting into gristle, sinew, fat, or the actual food you selected. I estimate at least 40% of the food was not fresh and 20% wasn't edible food at all. This was on a Saturday just after lunch, so we assume this was food left over from the week and possibly recycled. We will never return and have felt ill for a day or so afterwards. We called the management and was greeted with sneers and smiles like we were the problem. read more

The food at this place is fine. They do have a decent selection, including a made to order area in the back. But... I do truly not know how this place passes its health inspection or fire safety inspection. It is a mess. I can only assume that they are paying somebody off. Also, there is something very off about tipping at this location. You don't really get any service here, but there is a very high expectation for a high tip. However, my daughter insists that I state a few things that didn't kill my tastebuds & there were only 2... 1st, the fried rice was exceptional, a 10 on a scale of 1-10... 2nd, the fried zucchini it was great with some ranch dressing on the side... Believe me, there was nothing else that made the list... Every piece of chicken and seafood was extremely over cooked!!! I couldn't even chew 90% of all that I tried... I eat here a few times month because I work in the area and my options are the buffet or Subway. I prefer to eat in just because I like to get the hibachi grill and know everything is cooked the way I like it. I've never had any issues with the food other than the occasional piece of chicken gristle. I do take out at least once a week and I pretty much eat the same thing every time. All the chicken entrees were good (the walnut chicken was an A+), both rice types were fresh, the sushi wasn't bad, the hibachi chef was great, service was EXCELLENT and the place was clean. It was a "medium busy" Saturday at 4pm so they were between the lunch and dinner hours (probably one of the worst times to go to a buffet) but absolutely no complaints. Don't even try any other Chinese good in the area, this is the best around. They have a solid set of regular dishes, but will frequently introduce new items to spice up the selection. Their deserts are delicious and their wontons are amazing. As a whole their food is always hot, always delicious. I've been eating here for the past 10 years and have yet to be disappointed. OK, so I have trouble with the idea of any kind of serve yourself buffet(Golden Corral, Ponderosa, Cici's Pizza ... whatever the food). All Star Asian Buffet isn't so bad. The cheesy crab stuff is good, beef with broccoli is good, the fried green beans are usually good. I like the Egg Drop and Hot and Sour soups (often I mix them together with noodles). My wife likes their ice cream cones ... she claims they use "real" cream instead of the commonly used ice milk. There is a large variety of buffet items, hibachi grill, and sushi bar at a great price. The staff is prompt and friendly (It's a family owned restaurant.) If they run out of something, we kindly let a worker know and they fill the empty bin right away. We have never had an issue with under-cooked or over-cooked food, and we have eaten during both lunch and dinner hours.
