They quoted me twice what their competitors would charge because they knew that they were the only ones with the CAD file to complete the work. I reached out to Walker's competition to confirm and it was true. Was he gouging me because he could? You be the judge. Chuck Walker would not release the CAD file (that I paid for to me) so I could have a different company complete the work. Why? He had me over a barrel. I am starting from scratch with a new surveyor. We have choices and this guy is, in my opinion, a crooked and opportunistic scumbag.

I also had to clean up piles of dirt, debris, and leftover materials myself. A section of my rock bed was dug up during the repair and never restored. After more than two weeks of trying to resolve this directly, I filed a formal BBB complaint. Really disappointed in the lack of accountability and follow-through. Billing was an absolute NIGHTMARE. I had to completely stay on top of everything. Please be very aware.

One was privacy, on front, ours was iron on front and it's about an acre the had to fence off on 3 sides with chain link & the other neighbor only had the posts put in because our ground apparently is not made of dirt, just rock and unlike us, that neighbor has some great carpentry skills. We also had several stone columns. The masonry guys came on the date scheduled & on time. We were amazed at how quickly they went up. Employees were very nice & gave us our privacy. No slacking off. Very respectful. It was near the holidays so it took a little while before the front went up. went But they also had to order additional parts for a change our neighbor made. They came earlier than scheduled. Those employees were also great. Never saw them even turn to look at our home as they walked back and forth through the back (our many windows have no curtains). They came on time, never saw them slack off. I don't think I even saw them leave for lunch. When they were done for the day, they cleaned up. The foreman even noticed some materials we didn't order that would help keep the fence from moving around. So it was ordered & they installed same day. Not only that, the only winter day we had in texas happened to be the last day they had to finish. He asked if they coukd work on sunday & we said of course. But he told us they might wait until winter was over, on Monday. But the next day on Sunday, when it was crazy cold, they showed up and by the end of the day they were done! Foreman came to ask if it was all good. And then they left on their merry way. Our emails with questions were answered promptly and usually the same day. The fence looked great. A couple weeks later, maybe earlier, we received another email to check in on us & find out if there was anything that we needed. Highly recommend.

Everything went fairly smoothly up until the day of the installation of my iron fence surrounding my home. A few days prior to the scheduled installation, I asked the representative if there would be someone supervising the installation who speaks fluent English. He said there wouldn't be anyone supervising because his wife was scheduled to go into labor on that day. He reassured me there would be no issues and the workers would know EXACTLY what they needed to do. I reiterated to him how important it is they install the iron fence low enough to prevent my dog from digging a hole escaping. I reluctantly agreed to proceed with the installation based on his reassurances. The day of the installation, the workers showed up at my door and the first thing one of the workers did was hand me a cell ph and someone with Northwest told me, "Can you tell them where to install the fence" I told him I already went over all this with my rep and I do not feel confident communicating with workers who do not speak English. I ended the call and immediately called the rep and told him that someone needs to get down here and communicate everything we had already went over. The rep came down and told the workers where to install everything. I asked him who I should contact at the office if there is a problem and reminded him what he told me about the workers knowing exactly what they need to do. He responded by saying, "I thought it wasn't an issue to you that they don't speak English?" This was NOT what I stated and told him I only agreed to allow the installation to proceed because of his reassurance they would not need any additional guidance during the installation. Sure enough, after they got started prepping the ground and installing the fence, the gate was being installed too high, leaving a large gap at the bottom, and I tried to communicate this with the workers with no luck. I told the workers to stop completely and, at this point, I was really starting to lose my patience. I immediately called the Northwest office and told them the fence was being installed too high from the ground and how they needed to send someone over immediately or I would be sending the workers away for the day. They sent someone down about 30 minutes later and he communicated with the workers, the proper way to install the fence. I asked the supervisor to stick around to ensure there were no more issues. They 'completed' the installation and they had forgotten to attach adhesive to the caps on the fence posts as well as failing to install the latch on the side gate. They had to return two separate times, requiring me to take time out of my day to be here, to complete the gate lock installation and attach the caps properly. I also started finding pieces of sharp metal in my lawn they failed to clean up which posed a major safety hazard for our family and dog. All of this nonsense could have been avoided if the representative assigned to my project would have scheduled the installation at a time when he could have been present to supervise and inspect the work being done by the subcontractors they hired...

They even came back after the job to check on things and turn my front gate into a saloon style gate. As for price, they were by far the best. I did a lot of shopping around and a lot of other contractors are way over charging. The quality was absolutely fantastic. They did such a good job that I've had 6 neighbors in the first week alone ask for their contact info. People also stopped them mid job to ask about the stain and if they can do their fence. I worked with Noe and Manny and they did an outstanding job.

It took 2 days of building and I got exactly what I asked for - a 150ft horizontal fence with a nice stain finish. I found several people who quoted me less, but when I gut into it they were using inferior materials (e.g. pine rather than cedar) and they often were quoting for a vertical fence. Austin Fence Builders understood exactly what I was looking for and stuck to their pricing, and stayed fair when my needs changed.

They completely refuse to communicate with any family members about how they plan to remedy the issue. Play it safe and DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY OR ANYONE WHO CONTRACTS WITH THEM.
