The only reason I knew of myofunctional therapy is because I had it as a child (I also had a tongue thrust). Apparently most orthodontists simply install an applicance to try and "train" the patient's tongue to go to the correct spot. I would prefer to work with my child and retrain her muscles to swallow correctly. Just makes sense to me. Myofunctinal therapy is usually performed by a dental hygentist or a speech therapist. Andi is a speech therapist. I consulted with a couple other potential therapists for my daughter, but felt a speech therapist was much more qualified and competent. It is more expensive, but very worth it. In addition, by going to a licenced speech patholist, my daughter was diagnosed with a swallowing abnormality and our sessions may be covered by insurance (we haven't heard from the insurance company yet). Andrea did an excellent and thorough job of assessing my daughter's ability to swallow and the functionality of her tongue. Plus, she made it fun. Andrea has a wonderful, friendly personality and a great rapport with both me and my daughter. I was encouraged to participate in sessions so that I could ensure my daughter completed her weekly exercises properly. We are still in the midst of therapy, but I have already seen major improvements in my daughter's ability to swallow correctly. I have no doubt her therapy will be successful.

I read through some of the reviews and am sad. Maybe there should be a vetting process to review? Someone with a very sad life can take down a professional with a remark that is as trivial as "exotic"? And mental conditions can absolutely impact pain (typically exacerbation). There are so many things that are painful and anxiety inducing. It would behoove us to really evaluate what's worth getting upset about and channeling energy in a productive area. Please use discretion when reading reviews.

This is a long overdue review. After a pretty terrible experience at another speech therapy…read morefacility, we were grateful to check this one out. There was a waitlist, but after a couple months, we received a call that there was space available. Most of the popular times were taken, but we eventually found a schedule that worked for us. I know that there are mixed reviews about the front reception area, but from our experience, Cindy is exceptionally great at what she does. She may come off as strict, or maybe not as friendly at first, but she is the one that holds the fort down. For what she does, she needs to be that gatekeeper. She makes sure that the paperwork is there, the insurance is applicable, the schedules for all the therapists are set, the common area stays clean, there is just so much that she does that people don't realize. She is truly great, and I stand by my comment that she is a huge asset to that team. My son was in speech therapy since he was two years old. At that point, he only said one word. We started virtual therapy because of Covid, and eventually moved into a on prem therapy. When his therapist left the facility, we were heartbroken and had anxiety about what we would do. At that point he was also doing speech therapy through the public school system, but we felt like he still needed that one on one practice. His first session at Little Sprouts was with Amanda. She has a ton of energy, and unlike his other therapist, which was mostly play based, Amanda got down to business. She incorporated rewards along the way, and little incentives, but most of it was hard work. I believe we were there for about a year and a half before my son was clear to graduate. I give a lot of credit to the hard work that Amanda put in with him, the work we did at home that she recommended, and the group sessions that he had through public school. It truly takes a village. It's always difficult to see your child struggle with something that you feel might be out of your hands. It's amazing how quickly they can catch up with a lot of perseverance and focus. This facility is amazing, Amanda is an excellent therapist, and I couldn't be more thankful and grateful for them! Our son has so much to say every day, and sometimes I forget how far we've come that I have to take a step back and take it all in. Thank you so much, Little Sprouts. Thank you, Amanda. Thank you, Shari! We are beyond grateful for your team and their dedication to these littles!

Who does that to a child? Especially one with special needs? Don't work with children if you can't be bothered with them. My daughters first session the OT couldn't work with her or help her regulate while she had some behaviors and difficulties adjusting to the new environment (daughter is on the spectrum) as it takes her time to warm up and adjust to new people and environments. OT was very passively natured and I could immediately feel that she was not cut out to work with kids who had any issues with adjusting or needing help to emotionally regulate, which surprised me being that it's an OT clinic. It felt as if they didn't want us to return back after one session being a little bit challenging. We switched to another clinic and have had an amazing experience and OTs that help regulate and help with strategies and solutions and understand our kids need time and patience and help to regulate often times! We felt unwelcome and like they were judgmental seeing a child struggle to emotionally regulate and didn't feel cared for or like they wanted to be helpful. Super disappointing and wish we would've skipped this clinic all together.

Our daughter was diagnosed with apraxia, and was considered non-verbal. We did our research, found Rachel, and were lucky enough to get a spot on her busy schedule. Rachel has an incredible speech therapy toolbox (including that she is one of the few PROMPT-trained speech therapists in Southern California). Within several weeks our daughter was initiating short independent phrases. We were overjoyed! From there, Rachel guided her development, and her speech and language exploded. In less than a year our daughter went from completely non-verbal to a non-stop chatterbox! Quite simply, Rachel taught our daughter to talk. We have had a number of assessments done, and Rachel's are by far the most comprehensive and thoughtful. Her calling is surely pediatrics, and kids with developmental delays. She is a natural at handling kids with problem behaviors, and at motivating children who are less than attentive. We cannot say enough good things about Rachel's demeanor, her compassion, her thoughtful and creative approaches, and her ability to communicate to parents and other professionals how to best help your child. 6 stars!
