My housemate went in and rented equipment and had a 24 hour rental. He used it for 2.5 hours and they did not give him his deposit back, plus the machinery had broken parts on it. They are rude and will not work with the customer. I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy. read more

I have been using AllStar rental for the last 5 years and have always appreciated their service and equipment. Mostly rent big equipment( excavators, fork lifts etc) and use the delivery service which is quite excellent in itself. Driver always show you how to operate the particular piece of machinery and always shows up on time. This is an unethical and dishonest business. Im 125-lb with small wrists. I went in there and asked the guy to recommend a polishing machine that I could use to buff my floors. It took two men to load it in my car. as soon as I turned it on the machine was like a wild horse and almost busted my wrist. I thought I was doing something wrong so I called my two masons to figure it out. these strong giant men could not get it in control. They said they use buffers regularly but had never seen one that flew around the whole room erratically and was hard to control. It literally flew off the floor and hit my wall each time we tried to operate it. I immediately took it back in an hour. I asked the man working at the counter and he said he knew the machine is erratic. To my shock the owner a tall guy would not give me a refund for the rental. This guy can sleep at night knowing he swindled a woman out of $45 with a machine he knew would be impossible to control. I think they are pathetic, low moral people and must be hard for cash to stoop so low. I would not recommend this business. read more

The team at All Star really pulls together to make sure the customer experience is top notch. If anything comes up, they are always there via phone and even willing to make the near hour long trip to my property to make things right. Equipment is always in great shape, functional. I'll be taking my business elsewhere. The customer service here has been horrible, each time I've gone in. My last experience was the final straw. I rented a tile saw for 4 hours. Once I got home I found the saw was cutting crooked, at about 1/8", which is horrible. It was pouring rain and I needed to get the project done, so I tried moving each tile at an angle to try to get straight tiles. I ended up finishing the job, but having to waste 5 tiles (12x24) in total, which is a full box of expensive tile. It was super time-consuming and I ended up wanting to finish the job rather than drive an hour (round-trip) to return the saw. I called and told the guys about my problem and that I needed it for the full day. When I returned the saw the next morning, I again explained to the employee of the issue. He told me he was sorry to hear about my problem, however nobody else had ever complained about the saw so he didn't know if I was doing it correctly. Ok sir, you've lost yourself a customer, and 2 others because my stepdad and best friend usually do business here. And hopefully others reading this. It gets worse. He said, your bill has been paid in full so you're good to go. Even though I was upset, I am still a good person, so I said, well I only paid for the 4 hours yesterday, so I think I still owe you for the full day, hoping the man would say it's ok since you wasted 5 tiles ($70 worth of tile).... Instead, he said, no we actually already charged your credit card for the full day rental....uhmmm I NEVER SIGNED ANYTHING SAYING YOU COULD CHARGE MY CARD?????? I signed paperwork saying I was renting it for 4 hours and agreed to pay that. This was super shady. I'm not ok with that at all, nor am I ok with anything else this place did for me this weekend. The people at Halk Rentals in Shingle Springs have been very courteous. I will be going in there from now on, even if their equipment isn't in as good of shape as All Star, I can't deal with rude people and shady business practice. Buh bye read more

I needed generators at the last minute on a Saturday for my friend's wedding, and they came through when nobody else could! The staff was super friendly and helpful and they really saved the day! It also didn't cost an arm and a leg, so I definitely appreciated that too. I would highly recommend these guys! read more

Note: When you rent equipment here there is a "EFF" fee (some sort of insurance) which is explained in great detail on the reverse side of invoice. This fee IS OPTIONAL. The problem I've had with Lonnie is that he will charge your card the full amount and slap the invoice it in front of you for signature. if you declare you want to opt out of the fee he immediately gets an attitude. I've told him twice now to ask me first BEFORE he runs the card. By not doing that he has to refund back my eff fee and charge my card again with the adjusted amount. Absolutely ridiculous and unprofessional. He knows exactly what he is doing and is getting this fee from 90% of unsuspecting customer. Many customers may want the eff add on, I DONT. Be honest and your business will prosper, deceit and attitude will destroy you. read more

I went into all star rents to rent a trencher at about 8am without calling ahead, and didn't think I could finish a 220 foot trench in the 4 hour time frame. So I opted for the 24 hour rental, which on Saturday gets you until 9am on Monday. Finished the trench, brought the trencher back at almost closing time that day, and they refunded me the cost difference! Really nice people all around, and I can't give enough praise. I rented a man lift from this location over the weekend to trim oak trees on my property. As with all equipment there can be unexpected mechanical problems but I was super impressed with how both Kimberly and Lonny handled the issues I had with the lift. Kimberly made it clear that she was available and willing to do anything in her power to be sure I got the job done. She even made herself available on the weekend after the store was closed and was genuinely interested in having me update her to make sure I got things worked out. She really went above and beyond to make me feel like they were there to help. Lonny was extremely understanding when checking the equipment back in and providing me more than ample credit to offset the problems I had. Although the equipment I rented had problems come up I was very impressed with the way Kimberly and Lonny handled the situation. I really could not have asked for anything more from a business. Over the last couple of years, I've rented a several things from All Star and their prices have always been more than fair. They have a good selection of quality equipment and usually great service but the last time I rented a trailer, when the guy saw my last name is halk, his friendly attitude toward me cooled but of course I go to All Star because I want quality equipment and good service. After being hung out to dry twice by true value for a chipper rental I found myself at all-star rents. I should've went there first but was not familiar with their business. Anyhow I picked up a chipper and got it home and got about half way through my project when it started to malfunction. I called on the phone and they sent a mechanic right up and he diagnosed the problem in a matter if maybe 2 minutes. He offered to take the chipper back and recommended I call the front desk and speak to Kim. Kim was awesome avery apologetic which was unnecessary I realized based on the nature of what this machine does things break. They secured my rental for two weeks away and said they would work with me since the equipment broke. All in all my I will gladly do business with them again based on customer service alone. I've been using All Star for almost 19 years. Renting trailers, backhoes, bobcats, and even a floor scraper and I've never been disappointed! I've had 2 breakdowns over the years, one hydraulics on a backhoe, that they arrived within an hour to fix, and the other was a flat tire. The flat tire is interesting because it was my fault but I was leaving the country for work the day they were supposed to pick it up and I didn't realize at the time that I would need to fix it first(100% my fault). Because of the international back and forth it took 5 days before we could get the tire fixed, the whole time I'm expecting a huge bill for the extra days the tractor was sitting but they charged me exactly $0.00 because it wasn't booked during that time, talk about customer service! As a result, I rent from All Star and only All Star! read more

Rented a log splitter to help finish cutting the oaks rounds I wasn't in the mood to split by hand. Shop was clean and efficient, equipment ran flawlessly and the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Owning a large property requires lots of expensive and renting is often the best option. I'm a DIY homeowner out of necessity. If I've learned anything through the years, it is the RIGHT tools make any job easier and the outcome better. When I need a tool I don't own, I rent from this place. The manager and yard staff are friendly and helpful. Most of all, the equipment always works, every knob, light , and attachment. I just returned a skid-steer. The equipment was clean, the seat was not all torn-up, and as usual, it ran like a dream. Great selection of equipment and friendly staff, but had to knock off two stars because after getting a quoted price for a rental, they tacked on an additional 25+% in additional fees. I was quoted $50/day, but wound up paying $63/day b/c of a mandatory "equipment protection fee" or something like that (even though my credit car automatically provided insurance making theirs unnecessary). With that much in add-on fees, you'd think you were dealing with Ticketmaster. read more

Rented a forklift to unload a delivery. Estimated cost was ~$230 for a day rental. Used the machine for about 30 mins. Final invoice was $457. Called to find out the discrepancy and was told the hour meter indicated 4 hours of use, plus delivery, plus fees. Beware of cost creep! I will not be using them again. read more
