    Basic American Breakfast.
    GlobeTrotter L.

In A Nutshell: -All Stars is spot I ate breakfast at several times during my time in Amsterdam. -I enjoyed their basic American breakfast of: eggs, hashbrowns, beans, toast & coffee. -The entire breakfast cost about 15 euros. -There is plenty of indoor & outdoor seating. Overall, it can get packed pretty fast since it's in a prime, busy location of the Damrak, just minutes from Amsterdam Centraal Station.

We were in the area to catch an Amsterdam city & Anne Frank house tour & stopped by All Stars for a quick lunch. We were greeted & sat at one of the tables & ordered: (1) Beef Kabob Plate My beef kabob was served with frites, corn on the cobb & sautéed mushrooms. My kabob was tasty & the sides were good. (2) Cheese Burger Plates The burgers were huge & served with frites. Hubby & sonny didn't care for their lunch entree. I tasted the burger & it tasted more like a meatloaf.... :( I enjoyed my beef kabob plate ..... :) 3 Stars

walking down the main avenue in amsterdam and felt its dinner time...lol. saw an ad by all-star steakhouse...prices seemed reasonable and portions big so what the heck... got the agentinian steak...there was nothing agentinian about it except maybe a touch of chimichuri sauce...it was average but at least cooked properly...tender enough and not chewy..and came with a choice of side dish( fries, rice, or baked potato) next had the whole rack of ribs with same choices of side dish.... ribs was nothing to rave about. the sauce was weak, and rib itself was not charred long enough. it was surely boiled first then grilled judging by the texture. again, at least it was tender and not rough or chewy. when you're hungry...its a decent meal. wife said my ribs that i bbq at home are way better ( of course! ) lol. son had the carbonara sauce with spaghetti. this was probably the best dish. loads of pasta wth creamy carbonara sauce mixed with generous slices of bacon...and i do mean generous. too bad i didnt get to take a pict...but for $8.95 euro...such a good deal. when in amsterdam and hungry... worth a try! happy eating!!

It was the first place we walked up to on an empty stomach the first day we came to the city. We were hungry for just some eggs and coffee and the menu with pictures of eggs and sausage for €4,90 was enough to draw us in. It's a tiny diner with very close seating since they want to cram as many people as they can in here. The breakfast menu is pretty basic. We just ordered the basic English breakfast which comes with 2 Sunnyside up eggs, toast, 2 sausages, bacon and baked beans for €4,95. Large Coffee is €3,50. No refills. They don't do refills in europe. I originally wanted an omelete but their natural omelete for. €4,85 is actually JUST the eggs...nothing else..if you want fillings, you'd pay extra for it. The meal was good and satisfying. But very touristy. I suppose if you wanted an American breakfast like we did, this would be the place to go because it's not too expensive. The staff is very friendly and speak english. Most of the diners we noticed were all young foreigners who are probably staying in the hostels nearby. They accept credit cards!

    Eggs and Ham were great!!

Everything about this place was great!…read more I'll start with the service. We walked in around 4:10 and they didn't start food service for another 20 minutes. The waiter was super cool and told us to have a seat anywhere we liked and brought us a drink menu. He knew we wanted to eat so at exactly 4:30 he came and took our orders. Through out the meal he was on top of everything and even offered many suggestions! The food was spectacular as well. I had the trio of fries and my friends had other small plates that were all so good! And the sauces that come with the fries, mamma mia! We also shared the Boca's Platter and it was absolutely to die for. Do not pass this up. I repeat, do not pass this up! Between 4 people, the medium was plenty of food. The space itself was also nice. They had outdoor seating for nicer days. We went right when food service began on a Monday afternoon so can't speak to how busy it gets during peak hours. Go for the great service, go for the Boca Platter, whatever you do, just go!

Our first stop in Amsterdam for a late lunch. We ordered mushroom bruschetta, 1 medium boca…read moreplatter(meat, cheese, fish), three kinds of fries and of course STEAK TARTARE. The bruschetta was delicious and if you love blue cheese, get it...it's extremely rich and creamy. The three kinds of fries were solid; curly, sweet potato, and regular with some chili ketchups. The boca platter was HUGE and we got the medium for 4 people. Came with steak, fried shrimp, mackerel potato salad, crostini, and an assortment of cheeses and some pepperoni. Last but not least...my favorite...the tartare. The quail egg was delicately placed atop the center of the meat and placed alongside the four little crostini on the plate. It was juicy and had so much flavor, a little spicy but not an overwhelming amount of chili spice. This meal reminded me of tapas in Madrid; definitely stop by bocas and get everything!

Coffee & Coconuts, seriously another amazing cafe that I visited during my trip in Amsterdam!…read more This cafe is hidden on the outside, but once you step inside, it is massively huge with three stories of dining tables. After waiting to be seated, our hostess guided us upstairs to the third floor, where they have several more dining tables and cozy couches that you can sit on while you enjoy your coffee. My parents, having visited this cafe before during their last trip to Amsterdam, raved about this place and suggested that I try their famous coconut coffee. All three of us ordered their coconut coffee, with my dad adding an espresso shot to his own so that he could stay awake for the rest of the night. Once I reached that first sip, OMG. SO DELICIOUS. How can I make my own coconut coffee back at home?! I loved it so much that I really want to make a copycat of it. The straws are also bendable, which really makes it handy if you need to lower your straw a bit. If I could, I would get on a plane to Amsterdam just to come back for their coconut coffee. That's how delicious it is! Local or tourist, I strongly suggest Coffee & Coconuts. You will not regret coming here at all!

Fantastic ambiance. Friendly service. Excellent food and drink options…read more Casual, trendy, comfy spot for just coffee or a full meal. - Coconut Coffee: A delicious iced drink, rich in coconut and strong coffee flavors. - Royal Apple Juice: Very refreshing blend of apple, carrot, ginger & lime juice. - Kimchi Toast: Good, filling. Not too spicy at all. - Smoked Mackerel Sandwich: A whole, huge mackerel fish is served atop this toast. Yum! Bathrooms are located on European first floor (for Americans, that's not the ground floor. It's equivalent to the 2nd floor).
