January 2024 party of 3 dinner $291.96 fine dining Japanese steakhouse Perfection from the venue, staff, chef, entrees It was too perfect, not only did we enjoy dinner in Amsterdam but we will dine again in London too. Bravo to everyone involved who made this a memorable feast

Bison, lamb and the Scottish black gold steaks.

The 3.5 ounce sizes are great if you want to try multiple cuts which is what I recommend that way you can experience more of the menu. But you MUST try the Kobe bacon!!! It's UNREAL!

Appetizers, bison tartare, tuna tower top left very good

Not for me, overpriced steak, rude staff and no knowledge about the large wine selection they have. Our server did not have any knowledge of wine so he brought someone else and she was rude and annoyed that we asked so many questions. Then she refused to come to our table.

The food here is delicious and has something for everyone, steak options, seafood dishes and even vegetarian ones! It was recommended to us by our hotel concierge as a great place to eat where a reservation wasn't needed. The service was quick and helpful especially since the steak menu was a little confusing. We did order our steaks originally medium rare but they came out rare but the kitchen had no problem cooking the steaks a bit more. It was the end of the night and they were about an hour away from closing when we walked in but everyone was kind and didn't rush us at all. The overall vibe of the restaurant had a great relaxed feel that was perfect for a date night after a long day of traveling.

Last minute sort of add on to the trip. 2 cocktails, a Scottish Black Gold steak and a Blue Fin Tuna steak each with a side, scallops appetizer. The appetizer was ok. The kiwi underneath not quite being to my palate. But the steak was incredibly tender, and the truffle butter sauce accompanied very rich in flavor. All in all for 150 euro it was a nice last meal in amsterdam

Delicious Scottish beef....want to try Kobe beef next time.

Pricey but well worth it! Wide choice of organic/grass-fed filet...I had the Scottish, (ordered|Medium//came out: very rare, which I find is pretty common).... Next time: I'll have to try the authentic Japanese Kobe beef. Good selection of wines..

Surf and Turf & wild spinach

Worst steakhouse ever!!!! We arrived a bit early (the opening time that is stated on their own webpage is false!) so we kindly asked if we can sit down and drink something already. The owner was polite and said of course, the waiters complained in Dutch (great first Impression!). I had the surf and turf with wild spinach and it was disgusting! The beef from australia tasted like a super old cow and the lobster tail was over cooked, served with a pesto that wasnt self-made. This dish costs 50€ and the quality was really bad and I didnt finish. The service at McDonalds is definately better than here - they have been extremely impolite and almost threw the dishes on the table at a so called "high class restaurant" according to the prices. Consequently, I totally regret going there!

I have been to this wonderful steakhouse in Amsterdam 4 times already. Steak quality is unbelievable. I would say it ranks among the best steakhouses I've visited, and I've been to many, all over the world. Toro Dorado (now called TDQ) features top-rated prime cuts from all over the world including Canada, Scotland, New Zealand, Argentina, and of course Japan. Each type of steak comes in 2 or 3 different sizes (standard sizes are 180 gram, 250 gram, 350 gram and 500 gram) and is priced according to type and weight. Soups, salads, side dishes, steak toppings, sauces, and desserts all need to be ordered separately. They also offer a limited selection of seafood. And they have a full bar. The wine list is not large but it does offer a very wide price range from 29 Euros to 3749 Euros (yes, this is not a typo!). A steak without a side dish can run you anywhere between 33.50 Euros for 250 grams of New Zealand Prime Steer to a whopping 245 Euros for 250 grams of the Royal Wagyu from Japan!!! Just about a Euro per gram, or 31 US Dollars per ounce! So yeah, this place is expensive :). My favorite steaks are the 350 gram Canadian Bison and the Scottish Black Gold. Appetizers, side dishes, sauces, and desserts are all excellent. TDQ can get quite busy and reservations are highly recommended. You could still end up waiting a while even with reservations as they seem to get a lot of large parties that tend to over-stay. The restaurant is located in the center of the town, and there is no dedicated parking to the best of my knowledge. This is Amsterdam, so street parking can be very hard to come by. It would be best to take a taxi or Uber. Service is very thorough, courteous, and to the point, fairly typical of high end steakhouses. All in all a great dining experience as long as you come prepared to splurge and treat yourself to one of the best there is!

Staff were welcoming and jovial, joking with us from the beginning. . Very lively fun atmosphere here. Capable of seating a group of 4-6 around tables if needed, We started with a Negroni and a gin and tonic, both made with Jenever. Our food orders were based on other Yelp reviews praising the rubs here: We ordered a normal spare ribs (pork) classic dry rub (comes with salad and two sauces (similar to ranch and thousand island) and a normal mixed. We ordered a baked potato on the side to share, which comes with garlic butter. They also brought plain bread slices on the side. The pork ribs were both tender and flavorful. My husband liked the classic dry rub better than the smoked. The salad was crispy thanks to celery slices. The garlic butter on the baked potato was creamy, strong, and addictive.. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. When we left, we asked the mamager where the sister bar was located exactly and he directed us across the street to Cafe GDG.the adventure continues! Highly recommend!

We kept it classic this time: * The Ribs: Fall-off-the-bone tender as always. They don't over-sweeten the glaze, which I appreciate. * Le Cannibale Royale: The pulled pork on top of the patty is a heavy hitter, but the sauerkraut actually cuts through the richness perfectly. * The Fries: Still some of the most consistent in the city--thin, salty, and actually hot. Service was busy (it's Handboogstraat, so what do you expect?), but the staff was super chill and kept the craft beers flowing. It's loud, it's moody, and it's exactly what I wanted for a late-night feed. Plus, I've noticed they actually take the time to read and reply to feedback here, which is a rare find for a place this popular. Keep doing what you're doing!

I found it browsing Yelp, and the name alone told me this was going to be a meat-forward kind of night. Fair warning if you're bringing anyone squeamish about restaurant names: The wife wasn't thrilled about it going in, though the food won her over fast. Getting there was its own small adventure. The place sits down a narrow alley, and our Uber couldn't get us all the way to it, which turned into a bit of a hike. That happened to us more than once in Amsterdam, using the exact address didn't always mean the driver could actually reach the door, so budget a few extra minutes if you're headed here. I normally default to steak, but the menu had a burger topped with pulled pork that promised more meat than a straight cut, and I couldn't pass it up. Delicious. Genuinely one of the best burgers I've had. But the wife's flat iron steak might have stolen the night. Flat iron is one of the most underrated cuts out there, and this kitchen proved it. She was still talking about that steak days after we got home, enough that I ended up buying flat irons from Costco just to chase it. The atmosphere is cool and a little edgy, dim lighting, a lot of character, and yes, some genuinely creepy decor scattered around, including an old doll that stares at you like it's judging your order. It ran loud, but not so loud we couldn't hold a conversation across the table. Service was good, just on European time rather than American time. Getting the check took a while, which threw us off at first, but that's the norm across the EU, not a knock on this place specifically. Pricey, but worth every bit of it. We'd go back without hesitation next time we're in Amsterdam.

It was very warm in the place, so keep that in mind if you're traveling in Amsterdam during a heat dome! We had a couple servers who worked with us nd both were kind and friendly. They didn't quite communicate with each other about our need to split the check a specific way, but it worked out in the end. We enjoyed some cocktails and beer (ranging from 9.50 Euro to 12 Euro), as well as the Pork Belly and Pickles to start off (21.50 Euro for 300 grams). Tasty way to start the meal. The three of us shared our mains and enjoyed what we had. The Favorite Ribs (24.50 Euro) were flavorful; the L'Incroyable 300gr (Ribeye; 34.50 Euro) was good, but our least favorite of what we ordered; the Le Cannibale Royale 170gr (burger) was super tasty. We also enjoyed some frites (4.90 Euro) and some delicious Mac n Cheese (6.50 Euros). Good time and good food!

Overall an ok experience because: + average food…read more+ friendly and welcoming atmosphere + very slow service I would give it 3,5 star for the very welcoming atmosphere and the good quality meats. The pace of service and the rest of the dishes could be improved though. The food was ok-ish. For example, the meats were of good quality, but they were cooked in too much gravy and were served with bland tasting vegetables. Also the cocottes had good tasting mushrooms, but the sauce was overwhelming. The place itself is very welcoming and the staff very friendly. The owner/chef came to our table for a very friendly chat. It has a very intimate and relaxed atmosphere. However, the service is incredibly slow. It took 25 minutes before our drink orders were taken and we received the menu, 35 minutes to place our order and only 75 minutes after arriving did we have our first course. And the restaurant was not very crowded. Feels like this should be improved.

I got lucky with this place because they had a table for four on a friday evening! The place is a super charming tiny little place, old school dutch style. And I loved how every table has a candle on it. While browsing the menu we had a plate of bread with a herring pate and olive oil placed down. The bread was delicious and the herring pate, even better! We all decided to get the four course surprise menu which was 32.40 i believe. Each course was delicious. All the meats were cooked and marinated perfectly (I have photos attached to this review of each course). I recommend all of them and it was hard deciding which one was my favorite. I don't think this place is traditional brazilian but brazilian inspired and they did a good job doing their twist on it. Service was also efficient and friendly especially for being a full house! The only reason I can't give them 5 stars is because we all felt the portion sizes were a bit on the small side. The guys at our table left hungry. I was on the edge of still hungry. Also we ordered more bread for our table since we knew the plates weren't going to fill us up. We got charged for each extra bread basket we received. I would also recommend this place for a nice romantic dinner. Dark walls, charm & candlelight.. you can't go wrong!
