I have used All Valley for many years and had 2 of my children with their services. They have been nothing but amazing and providing top-notch service every single time I have had an appointment, and I have had many. From the staff, to the midwives to the doctors, everyone I have encountered were friendly and helpful. Good quality service always tends to be priced above the norm and that is everywhere especially in the medical field. I was given an appointment 6 weeks out as it was the earliest they had available. I get there, fill in some paperwork, and they tell me they are not contracted with my insurance. I pay the $405 with my credit card. I go in, and the doctor is in and out in less than 10 minutes even though I hadn't had an annual in 3 years. For $405, ten minutes. That's $2,450/hr. Weeks go by and they don't call about my results. I had to call them to find out. I then try to file a claim with my insurance, because I know they do cover and are part of Aetna, and they tell me I can't because the clinic already filed one, so now I had to liaise with the clinic for a reimbursement because they were going to pay them directly. Finally, I get hit with a $300 lab bill, that I was told was included in my $405 for a grand total of $705. FOR AN 8 MIN WOMEN'S ANNUAL- no additional tests or issues, just your usual yearly exam. Luckily I am healthy and everything was normal. Can't imagine what someone who actually had something going on would pay. You and your pocket are better off going somewhere down valley. I made an appointment a month ago to see Dr.Knight at AVWC. At that time I specifically asked (because I took a new job) if they took my insurance, and they said yes. Yesterday it took me 30 minutes to fill out their online patient questionnaire, which Is odd considering I have been a patient of AVWC for over 15 years. Today, I left work today and drove 20 mins each way to get to the appointment. When I got there, they informed me that they 'do not accept that insurance' and offered me other offices that do. I asked why they would have told me otherwise a month ago on the phone, and they simply said 'I'm sorry, it must have been the new girl. She gets some insurance confused.' Unfortunately, after 15 years, I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

AVWC is far more interested in their bottom line than patient care. Their rates are many times more than industry standard and they really treat you like a second rate patient if you aren't willing to pay their full fees or have a cadillac insurance policy. Most of the conversations I had while a patient there had to with warnings and shaming about their high cost. They have the monopoly on upvalley OBGYN and their staff act like it. Their doctors were helpful, but outside of that, if you rely on insurance or arent paying cash upfront, you should seek care elsewhere. read more

If you are searching for an OB/GYN in Aspen, Colorado - you can confidently see Dr Mindy Nagle. I have known her as a caring and attentive person long before she became a physician. She lived in Aspen after college graduation and worked as a tennis professional at the Maroon Creek Club. She always planned on medical school but was diligent and focused on her job as an assistant pro. Her tennis clients were very loyal and she uwas popular with both the juniors and seniors. After her residency at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center - she returned to join the practice of Dr Harling. He was a well respected and long time obstetric "doc" here in Aspen. When he retired Dr. Nagle became the primary obstetrician in this small resort community with Dr Natasha Knight. Dr. Gail King also had an OB/GYN surgical practice and was extremely well thought of with new mothers. She now limits her practice to gynecology with special interests in menopause and other issues common to the many women who've adopted the Aspen lifestyle of Mind, Body, Spirit. She has written a very informative and fun new book titled LEGS UP that I received as a gift. I've passed it on to girlfriends who enjoy a good laugh and noted that Gail's "guide to the vagina" is written with bits of humor in all the right places. Per Aspen Valley Hospital website, AVH has board-certified specialists in twenty five different fields. Dr Nagle serves on the Board of Directors which is not easy in this very opinionated small town. The hospital expansion is a huge undertaking that's raised many questions. Do we really need "all that" new build-out? Do we really need to compete with the recent expansion of Valley View Hospital in Glenwood which serves a much bigger population and is only one hour away? Do we really need to compete with the Steadman Clinic, Vail or Shaw Cancer Center, Edwards? As a recently diagnosed breast cancer patient I can YES! I've lived and worked in Aspen since 1968. My only son was born in the "old" Aspen Valley Hospital in 1972. He spent his youth as an accomplished ski racer with the usual knee injuries plus a few bumps on the head! A back injury forced his retirement but luckily he married a World Cup skier who came to Colorado from Slovenia to ski for the University of Colorado in Boulder. With a talented team, CU won the NCAA Championship and my daughter-in-law liked both the Aspen community that supported her in the 24 Hours of Aspen ski race and my son. Dr. Nagle delivered their daughter by C-section in 2005 and following great pre-natal care and much advice insisted that my daughter-in-law go to a large hospital to do the VBAC delivery of their son. And it is still true, Aspen is the very best place to raise happy, healthy, independentactive kids. As you can tell, I'm a big fan of Dr. Nagle. Mindy's been my "go to" doc in times of doubt and depression. When I was diagnosed last January both she and her ultrasound tech were extremely understanding and caring. They were more than professional during the earliest diagnostic ultrasound, explaining breast cancer metastasis to me, my husband and my son all squeezed into a patient exam room. She has continued to be a key person on my treatment team of four Aspen physicians and three Mayo Clinic oncology doctors. I must say that this tiny cosmopolitan town has the most talented staff of any 25 bed hospital in the US. I am grateful for my internist Dr Ann Mass who first diagnosed my cancer, for Dr Michael Linn, the radiologist who found breast cancer and performed the needle biopsy at once to get complete results promptly. I am grateful for AVH's exceptional mammography department as I did not have to travel to Denver for any procedures. I am grateful for Dr Douglas Rovira who's available every Tuesday when I have a list of endless questions. We "locals" are extremely lucky to even have an oncologist on staff - a special gift. The nurses in the oncology/infusion department are pros at delivering complicated treatments. I am grateful for the AVH lab staff who never rush and explain every blood test if you want to know. I am grateful for the radiology staff, June in medical records, the cafeteria staff and of course the very understanding billing department who deal with Medicare. I'm lucky to have the best life in an inspiring community. And that because of this giant support team, I skied 51 days this past season. Skiing powder with friends and family plus lunch at Bonnie's was my best medicine! Thanks also to Pathfinders who held a special counseling session for my entire family. They continue to support cancer patients every day. YES, I am surprisingly grateful for the Aspen Valley Hospital expansion as I don't drive down-valley and don't have to fly to Scottsdale unless I feel like it. The relationship that AVH has with Mayo Clinic is tremendously reassuring in these rapidly changing times. Breast cancer researchers are developing my miracle drug as you read this lengthy review!
