They have very dishonest employees. She told me her name is Stephanie but who knows if that's really her name or not. She worked the cashier today. She claimed to have paid me out my full amount which is $47. And I watched her count it. But then she took her sweet time so I turned down to look at my phone for a second while I waited for her to give me my money. I think that's when she took the money. I turned and walked away. Only 3 steps and I spread it to check the bills. And the $20 was gone. What a magician! I turned back to the cashier and she told me oh are you missing a $20? I didn't believe the negative reviews at first. But I just experienced the discrepancy first handed. Jason didn't record the weighted CRV bottles on the receipt. There's no point to argue as they empty the basket as soon as it's weighed. Although it doesn't add up to much money, it is still messed up. I advise everyone to take pictures of their inventory before rolling over to weigh. It's even better if you count or weigh ahead of time at home. read more

This is my second Yelp I have done with the Allan Company. But I am doing this because it is well deserved for the Allan Company. On my first Yelp I told everyone how great they are and I am happy with their service. Now on this yelp, I am saying they are even better. The staff members that stick out to me are Ramiro, Maribel, Juan Carlos, Arturo, Rigoberto and Pattie Gonzalez in the office. Pattie for other reasons. I have to admit this. I'm OLD. So I can't do the things I used to do when I was younger. When I'm trying to get some barrels over to get weighed sometimes Ramiro, Arturo, Juan Carlos or Rigoberto will stop and give me a hand. Ramiro and Arturo even bring some barrels over to me. That saves me a lot of time and effort. And this really comes in handy when there are a lot of people there and half of your recyclables are in line and the other half are still at your truck. But these 4 guys I just mentioned are really helpful to me. I appreciate their help. Maribel is always so nice when I'm checking out to get paid. From day one when I met her years ago she was nice from the beginning. And all these years later Maribel is still nice and it's always a pleasure to see her. I got to know Pattie because I lost a check and she was nice to me and helped me get another one. Well that was a little over 10 months ago and after all that time, I found that lost check. It's no good now so I tossed it in the firepl;ace and it went up in smoke. But I never forgot the kind thing Pattie did for me. Because of that one incident, I do things differently since then. So those staff members I just mentioned are the reason I keep going back to Allan Company. Thank you to all for being nice to me. read more

Can you say thieves? RATEROS!!! My husband and son went to recycle my elderly parents loot they save for months. Yes, it was a lot but we don't live near them so we got everything in one trip. AFTER uploading all the bags and even ripping some up, a short man syndrome fool tells my husband and son that they can ONLY sell 100lbs... and that he COULD make an exception but with a fee. More like a fee for his own pocket. Then this short man tells my husband that he can't leave with his recyclables because its against the law and they have him on video if he leaves and MUST recycle the items WITH a fee? All while this is going on other customers are watching the show and wondering what's going on AND other workers are telling the short man to chill and just let them recycle their stuff but nope. Someone must have made him KING of the recycling field for the day. Not all their workers are like this midget, but he sure left a sour feeling. I'll be honest, I've taken my sin with over 100lbs of items and forgot because it was never made into a HUGE issue. The ONLY difference is that I am their color (y no me dejo chingar). While my husband is not brown, so they try to take advantage of him. Allen, don't let BBB make you look bad because of this short man fattening his pockets. read more

I was ripped off! Monday, February 17, a few minutes after 4pm, I arrived at this recycling center and began sorting out plastic bottles & aluminum cans. My car was packed with recyclables. It was almost 5pm when I finally finished getting all my recyclables in the different bins; a total of two full bins filled with plastic bottles, and each plastic bottle had been squeezed/flattened back at home to be able to fit more in those bins. The same thing with the aluminum cans. So, two full bins of (squeezed/flattened plastic bottles, two full bins of aluminum cans, and a bin of glass bottles, half of a bin. They were closing at 5pm on that day. I rolled all my bins to the scale area. There was a staff worker standing near me, I made eye contact with him as I realized I had left my cell phone in my car with the windows down, so I ran over to my car, grabbed my cell phone, ran back to my bins, but by the time I got there, the little white dude with the big panza had already moved two of my bins out of the way. The bins full with plastic bottles has been separated from the rest of my bins. He grabbed the rest of my bins, weighted them, and then he took an extremely long time to get a receipt out of the machine. I looked at the receipt and the total amount to be paid had been left blank! I quickly made my way back to him and showed him the error on my receipt. He acted as if he was already expecting my reaction. He managed to mumbled out some words and returned to the scale register to get another receipt for me. He handed me the new receipt and my eyes nearly came out of my sockets! I politely asked him if he had also included the 2 bins packed with plastic bottles, the 2 bins he had taken away from me while I ran to my car to get my cell phone. He told me those 2 bins weren't mine! I was SHOCKED! I never expected this type of conduct from anyone at that place! I remember the staff worker whom I had made eye contact with, and desperately called him over and asked him to confirmed the fact that he has seen me with all my bins, and that I had ran over to my car and had ran back right away. The staff worker said yeah. He witnessed me doing all that, he said. Hey, the white dude was insisting the two bins full of plastic bottles weren't mine. I think I made a little scene when I started explaining to the white dude and to a few other staff workers about what was really going on. I was feeling so cheated! The total amount to be paid for all my recyclables was not even $30. I wouldn't shut up, so the white dude grabbed some other bin, put it on the scale and then added some $14 to my receipt. I was so fed up. I was angry, and they were about to close, so I went to the check-out booth to cash in my receipt. On my way to my car, some Latina lady had the audacity to approach me to tell me how wrong I was. She accused me of stealing from others to get more money for my recyclables. That whole experience has been bothering so much. I wish I could have thought of their security cameras, and contacted their manager to tell him what has taken place. If they have surveillance cameras, they would clearly see me rolling a total of 5 bins towards the scale, and they would see me running back and forth to my car and back to my bins. On top of that I couldn't even get the lousy 6 bucks right then and there I had to scan my thumb print and show my ID and give address for a $6 check. I've been going to this place for like 3-4 years now. Never had an issue until today. Juan CEO wanna be is such a jerk! When checking the aluminum cans he tells me I needed to separate the non aluminum cans. I told him oh I've never had any issues. When he was done he tells me "next time I'll give you the value is the non aluminum cans" which I believe is cheaper. First of all DO NOT threaten a customer but tell the customer next time I'll return them back to you so you can separate them. Don't threaten!! To that I responded oh no Juan next time I'll go with someone else, he gave me smirk smile. Oh then as he handed me the receipt to claim my money, he tells me "blessings to you" obviously he needs the blessings more so that he can stop bring a jerk!!!! The employees are quick & helpful, even when it's busy & loud. When it's less busy, an employee helped me sort the recycling & was friendly. When it was busy the last time I was there with my son, they started a new line to weigh our items. They also let us know about some cat treat containers that couldn't be recycled. The cashier lady was very kind. The machine was on, so it was loud, but she was still able to have me hear her directions. She also apologized for giving some smaller coins, because she didn't have others. I said that that was fine. read more

Regardless of most of the other reviews and the "four-star Yelp rating" currently representing this company (which I find dubious), my experience is more akin to fewer than greater when it comes to a rating in "stars." It started with some instructions to place cans and plastic into certain containers and glass in another. Okay, easy. Then, the same man who gave these instructions told us to stop and take the cans to a separate area. I said, "You just told us to place the plastic and cans into these specific containers." He said, "Who told you to do that?" I said, "You did." He said, "Oh, well you have a lot, so just take them over there." Okay, fine... We took our glass and plastics to be weighed separately. Another worker said, "I saw you unloading those wine and spirit bottles, but we don't accept those." I said, "If you saw me unloading them and knew you wouldn't take them, why didn't you come let me know before we removed them all from the truck?" He said, "I was busy with another customer." Okay, why even tell me unless you're trying to highlight how poorly you failed. This didn't make things easy, it made recycling stressful. Now we have to re-sort all of our glass items. They said, "We will throw them away for you." Wow, that's great. So you won't pay me for them, but I guarantee you're going to actually recycle my glass instead of throwing it away. In fact the manager said they would recycle my glass for me. Awesome! How much money did you make from me bringing you 170 pounds of glass you didn't have to pay for? This is utterly deceitful and a horrible business practice. Other recycling centers will give you money for all of the glass you want to recycle, regardless of whether or not there is a stupid "CA CRV" stamp on it. I try to be responsible and recycle as much as possible. This is the only time in the last 18 years of recycling I've ever been put-off by a recycler. I will never be back. I'd recommend you go somewhere else if you want to get more value for your recycling, but not at Allen Company. read more

Been coming here for years. Friendly and quick service. Every time I pull up I see an employee or two cleaning up after everyone. I've always thought this place was pretty reasonable. I don't know why some ppl said it's a rip off‍. I honestly don't know if it is or not but I'm happy with my return. I have never waited more than 2 mins at this place in line. And even if u do wait, they have the areas covered so you're at least in the shade. Last time I went, a fellow recycler gave me a coupon which allowed me to receive more money back. This place is huge.. They have a good set up as far as weighing your bottles and cans..you can see the meter / scale. The downfall to this place is that they use to have a bunch of cashier booths you could go to......to cash out...but...... they have one old booth in the middle of the driveway with long lines open.. They accept PET plastic, aluminum cans, and glass bottles by count BUT only 50 of each type or ~$2.50 if under 24oz, $5 if +24oz. I only go on weekday afternoons. Have never waited longer than 5 minutes for help beneath shade & they have up to 3 cashier booths. If your time is valuable go here instead of those broken Planet Recycle machines where you're stuck behind someone with 200 deafening beer bottles in the hot, hot sun. read more

I don't understand why their sign lists rates for plastics numbering 3 and on when they don't honor it. They just tell you that they don't accept it and they'll "throw it away" for me. Right. Despite the false advertising, I asked, "Do you guys recycle it anyway since it's recyclable (as I was pointing to the number in the triangle at the bottom)?" They told me, "No, you can Google where they take the other numbered plastic." (Oh gee, thanks a lot) If it so happens that they don't accept anything but crv items, I don't understand why they don't have connections to recycling companies that take the stuff they won't. It's irresponsible. I'm one in a thousand people that poses the same question to them daily, at least 500 times (and has wasted my time sorting everything out). They should have some sort of policy. Why they can't recycle all plastics, but they can recycle newspapers, copper etc. is weird. At least send off all the other plastic items to a company that recycles it! 5 stars! First my dad and I have been going here for years. They've always been really easy to go to fast efficent, clean. Well today we had an awesome experience with 2 workers from the plastics/aluminum area. I believe his name was richard. My dad is a senior, cracks a lot of jokes, loves to mess with people, these guys played along really well, and they even made an effort to joke back and help my dad out with the plastics that weren't accepted. He was so happy when he was done, he shook the man's hand... but the part that left my dad speechless was that he had the respect to take off his glove to shake my dad's hand... even though there was 10 people behind him in line.
