I've gone to Allan for over 20 yrs. He is the best dentist you'll find. The consummate professional who strongly believes in continuing education and stays current with all new developments in the field. The very first appointment, I remember clearly his telling me there is no reason in this day and age for dentistry to be painful. To this day, he's kept his word. I've never had a problem, despite a massive number of dental caries in the past five years or so. I've confidently referred dozens of friends and their families who have also been with him for years. (Who knows how many folks they've recommended by now?) His work is thorough and I never feel rushed. He is a perfectionist and will make sure he's found the right solution for each situation. You will be treated as an important individual and have no doubt that he cares. He's extremely personable, loves kids and has always done the cleaning himself. The office is managed perfectly by Carole; you'll find everything will run smoothly, including a reminder call the day before. His assistant, Mariela, is wonderful as well. When she takes Xrays, I love how she smiles every time she demonstrates how to hold the film with your teeth. :) Everyone has a great sense of humor and regardless of what may be going on in their personal lives, they're also gracious, accommodating and personable. Let's face it, no one relishes going to the dentist (sorry Allan, you picked the career), but when you have to go, this is where you want to be. I've been going to Dr. Forrest for the past 5 years. I will drive from where ever to see him in Woodland Hills! His bed/chair side manner is awesome. He is really nice, so pleasant, explains everything and is very thorough. I've been to places where the hygenists (?) clean your teeth, then the dentists check your grill over. Whatever. Dr. Forrest does all of that himself. I've had to get some bonding on some of the 'ole teeth and it looked great. So besides all the basic stuff I'm pretty sure he does cosmetic stuff too. Everything was gentle and pain free. The kinda funny thing is how he makes conversation with you as he's working on you. "Have you been to the Hollywood Bowl?" he asks. I left my old dentist (Edward L. Rosen) after not really feeling like I had my "own dentist" (One visit with one dentist, the next with someone else - Kinda like getting an oil change I guess?) After reading what other reviewers of Dr. Allan wrote - I decided to give this place a try. Prior to going in to see Dr. Allan - I was convinced I needed a deep cleaning, and although I have PPO; was still expecting to pay something out of pocket (like at my previous dentist) NOPE! Not the case with Dr. Allan! HE performed the cleaning, and went over brushing/flossing and gave me a recipe for a mouthwash to use. **No Out of Pocket expenses!** He scheduled a second appointment where he was able to see whether I had been "following his instructions" and finished the cleaning! (Woo Hoo!) Did I mention his excellent bedside manner? :-) Loved the fact that the service doesn't feel rushed! I had a few questions for him, and the level of detail and time he takes into answering my questions really shows you that he cares. I've been a client of Dr. Forrest's for the last several years and cannot say enough good things about him and his practice. He is patient, caring, understanding, and totally relatable. Dr. Forrest takes the time to explain procedures, different options, and has an unparalleled "way" about him and his dentistry. Instead of using a dental technician / hygienist, he performs routine cleanings himself. This, in my book, is a plus! His assistant is a doll and Carole, who runs the front desk, is an absolute delight. Instead of dreading my next dental visit, I actually look forward to my check-ups and cleanings. If I could give a zero review I would. I scheduled two appointments one for myself and one for my fiance on the same week. I had talked to the receptionist a few times and provided insurance information and we were all set for appointments. On the day of my apointment I got a phone call saying that they canceled my apointment due to an emergency patient. I was going to be okay with that until The lady said that she was also cancelling my fiancee appointment which was later in the week. When I asked why his apointment was being canceled also she said verbatim " I don't think we are starting on the right track" and said that I was better off find another dentist. Just like that they cancelled both of our appointments for no reason at all. I feel totally discriminated against and I am completely blown away by the level of unprofessional treatment we have received. Horrible! read more

5 stars is the maximum rating, but a perfect 10 would be more appropriate. I have been a patient of Dr. Forrest for longer than I care to share but what I will share is that if you are looking for a real dentist who will take the time to find the right solution for you, then this is the guy! Because I live so far away from his Woodland Hills office, I did try another dentist in my area and found that the high tech, 4 dentists per office situation was not for me - I never knew who would be seeing me upon my visit plus this kind of practice is all about money and not about good dental care. I drive 60 miles each way and at one point, I used to fly in from New York City for dental visits. Another plus is that the faces stay the same in the office. Dr. Forrest keeps his staff and to me, that makes my visit much more comfortable and enjoyable. How many dentists and their staffs recall the last conversation you had with them from your last visit? For safe and proper care plus good conversation :) while you're in the chair and waiting room, you can't go wrong with Dr. Forrest and his great staff. read more

Best dentist EVER! From the second I called his office I got a good vibe. Carol is soooooo sweet and she's always very friendly. His assistant Mariella is the nicest person ever. You can talk to her just about anything. They all remember your name, and believe me I don't have the easiest name. Dr. Forrest is very professional and they all have a sense of humor. I actually enjoy going to see him. I mean who really likes to go to the dentist? He walks you through everything he does and his work is amazing! My fiance has starting going to him and he loves going there as well. I mean, this is a guy who hates going to the dentist and every time I go he asks me to make him an appointment. So far I have recommended him to three of my friends. Dr. Forrest will be my dentist forever and if he ever moves I will follow him. read more

Dr. Forrest is by far THE BEST dentist I have ever known (and I've known many). I very much agree with the other reviewers here. Dr. Forrest has the best bedside manner in that he is welcoming, calming, comforting, confident, professional, funny, meticulous, expertly qualified and connected to the state of his patient. He explains everything in a way that I can understand and manages your expectations throughout. This is SO important to me as I never thought I could feel so comfortable in a dentist office getting crowned, filled, cleaned, numbed whatever! I no longer avoid the dentist and love the work he does! (Though you will be far more appreciated if you follow baseball and other sports....ahem...) And yes I definitely feel like part of the family. Carol is sooooo sweet and I just love chatting and working with her. She is also very knowledgeable in dentistry and has always answered my questions and concerns no matter what they are. And sweet Mariella. So playful and warm and always greets me with a huge smile, a joke and a fun story. She is a great assistant and colorful member of the family. They are the best! read more

Dr. Forrest, Mariela, and Carol are absolutely the best!! I have never been to a dentist whose highest importance was to educate me and provide such excellent service. I avoid going to the dentist at all cost. In the past, my experiences were about how much work I needed and what the cost to me would have been. Fine, I undertand I have dental issues that need attention and I am committed to fixing them, but it's in the way that it is apporached that is important to me. At Dr. Forrest's office, my experience was that what is important to them was my health and the service that they can provide to me. Anytime I needed to rinse, Mariela made sure my cup was always full and the sink was clean. Jokes were told, connections where made, and my teeth were cleaned! I should also mention, cleanliness is important to me, and their office was squeeky clean! If you dislike going to the dentist as much as I do, make an appointment with Dr.Forrest, you won't regret it :) read more

I have had one dentist for 40+ years, Dr. Allan Forrest. Why change when you have the best. I have even moved to Ventura County, but make the drive to see Dr. Forrest. Dr. Allan is professional, compassionate, patient friendly, with outstanding skills that seem to get better over time. Going to Dr. Forrest's office is like visiting old friends. Carole is a gem, works hard to run the office and set up the appointments in a timely manner. The entire staff, Dr Allan, Carole, and assistant Mariella, are all warm, friendly, and make the effort to make you feel at home-in a dentists office! Carol (is what I think her name is), is the front desk secretary. She is the MAIN reason why I'm NEVER going back there again, (after going there a handful of times)!! Even though I had liked Dr. Forrest, he is not worth having to put up w/ his lying, scamming, secretary! She is just plain awful, extremely rude & unprofessional!! Not to mention, she NEVER seems to know what's going on. The last straw for me was when my family was visiting from Chicago, IL, & while they were waiting w/ my 2 yr old son in the waiting room, she was apparently even unfriendly to them, which I had been told when we were leaving! She had even gone as far as secretly telling me, (by shutting the window, so my fam couldn't hear), that they were taking up too much room, & there was nowhere for the other Dr.'s patients to sit, when I was the last patient of the day, & my family had later told me that NO ONE else had even come through the door! Dr. Allan Forrest seems to be a great dentist, although I've never had pain before on the tooth he had been working on! I have reason to believe when he removed an old crown he had cracked my tooth underneath, therefore, after paying for a large portion of the new crown, I had then been sent to get a root canal that was another $400 + approx. that was not covered. After that, I had no problems w/ any pain or irritated gums but after going back to Dr. Forrest to get the permanent filling, it's started to hurt AGAIN, PLUS my gums around that tooth are extremely irritated now! Going back to Carol being the reason I won't be going back, she had lied flat out to me on the phone when I call w/ questions, (especially when it comes to billing), & when I confront her, & say, "but then why did you say this?", she'd just lie about ever saying what she'd tell me. My husband witness this the 1st time it happened in the office, & I tried to let it go as a misunderstanding on her part. The last time this happened was when I called to make sure there was no EXTRA charge for my permanent filling after the root canal, since I had already requested the TOTAL charge of everything it involves, SINCE I'VE COME TO EXPECT THOSE SURPRISE BILLING CHARGES FROM CAROL, that she always seems to forget about or just flat out gives the wrong information!! On the phone I asked her, "so this is not going to be a new charge for the permanent filling, right, since I already got my total & was not told I need to go back for that until after the fact" Carol says, "No, it's always a charge for fillings, UNLESS you just had your root canal." I said, "yeah, that is what I'm talking about, I just went to the referred endodontist from Dr. Forrest." Carol, "oh, than no, there's no charge!" !!!! After getting it done, she then tried to charge me. Before I had even talked to her about this matter, since we never seem to communicate well, & she becomes rude right away, I told Dr. Forrest the situation, & told him I wanted to tell him 1st b/c of that very reason. We went to talk about this w/ her, & she denied the whole situation in front of Dr. Forrest! Saying she would never say that. UNBELIEVABLE!!! This was right before the comment she made about my family, & proceeded to tell me that I need to make new arrangements, ( b/c my family was w/ me watching my son during my appt.) LET ME REMIND you, my fam was on vacation visiting, we went straight to dentist after a day of being out & about! read more

I've been lucky enough to have Allan as my dentist since about the age of 9. I'm now in my 40s and have managed to keep him as my dentist all these years. I'd like to think I'm one of his longest standing patients. He is the best around hands down. Highly recommended. read more

Dr Forrest, Carole & Mariela are the best! My whole family, my husband's partner and her whole family, my best friend and her family and on and on and on go to Dr. Forrest's office and have for many years. Dr. Forrest is the most pleasant, conversational & educational dentist you will ever find and he always wants to make sure you are comfortable and well informed. I have been going to Dr. Forrest for about 15 years, probably longer. I like his chair-side manner, the office staff, assistant, and all of their professionalism. I usually have to make an appointment about 2-3 weeks in advance, which isn't bad at all. He educates me in teeth cleaning, new technology, and gives me options as necessary.
