She is gentle, honest and kind. I received the best and most thorough exam I have had in many years. She gave the best & most thorough oral hygiene instructions--not the standard brush and floss advice. I had dry mouth and bleeding gums from a blood pressure medication I was taking. She told me exactly how to care for these problems and gave me a dry mouth spray I had never heard of (AllDay). She told me to keep it in my purse, use when needed throughout the day and to carry water with me as well. Dry mouth is serious, one can get cavities and risk loosing your teeth if it goes untreated. Scam prices for bad service. Maybe they're a good dentist otherwise, but if you're looking for Candid Aligners, go anywhere else. The "45-minute" appointment took 4 hours. This is not an exaggeration. For a 2p appointment, I did not leave until 6p. I came in for Candid Aligners, which cost $3,300 on average. Royal Dental Practice claims to charge $4000 for the process and so far is trying to charge me $4,387. A full $1,000+ over any competitors. First, they said my initial appointment would be $430, followed by $3570 for the aligners. Now they're trying to charge me $817 just for the first appointment -- for services that other dentists only charge $150 (I called five different dentists to check). I was also told by Royal Dental Practice that they accepted my existing insurance, just to learn later from my dental insurance company that Royal Dental charged me at "Premier" rates. Other concerns in no specific order: -Dentist did not consistently wear a mask or gloves. -A dirty cellphone was used for photos with inconsistent glove changing, followed by the gloves used on that cellphone being put into my mouth to readjust the painful device. - For the teeth impressions, several times I had to ask them to stop putting so much pressure on my teeth, as four hands were being used to shove the impressions into my jaw using body weight from above, while I continued to say they were shoving my teeth painfully through the mold and they continued to tell me I was wrong (while they were redoing impressions and wasting several molds). I expressed pain and discomfort throughout the process, and little to no attempts were made to alleviate either concern. I came in for this service because one of my teeth had broken six months before, and I expressed many times that I was still in pain and needed them to be gentler. I have a strong tolerance for pain and discomfort and can't imagine how other patients manage to get through this. -Partway through the process, the dentist's phone died which they were using to take pictures, and then they had to redo the entire process after I waited 30 minutes for her phone to charge. Then, they argued for 15 minutes about whether my information was already saved in the system while I continued to wait (from the conversation, it had clearly been saved, but the dentist insisted that they restart the entire process anyway because they didn't understand how to use the Candid App). -I asked how often they process Candid aligners and was told that they do them an average of once a day. I am skeptical, to say the least. --To be clear, I have done these impressions myself for a trial for another aligner's company two months before this appointment and took perfect impressions and photos of my own teeth within 30 minutes using all of the same equipment provided as the dentist had at this appointment. -The dentist insisted that it was required to take a full set of x-rays, even though I had already gotten them three months before. I have since realized this was another scam to charge me extra, as no other dentist requires a full set of x-rays more than once a year, usually once every five years. And to be clear, their equipment appears to be old, yellowed, cracked, and outdated, so there is no logical reason to insist on using their own equipment. I was told that these x-rays were standard procedure and were included in the already high-priced Candid service, but was instead charged for them separately. -At the start, I was told I would be able to preview my results before making the final payment. After taking impressions, they refused to send me my results from Candid and said I needed to pay $3570 to complete my order before I was allowed to see any preview of my results. Then they changed that story to say I had to come in for an appointment to view the results from their computer, as they refused to forward me the email itself. Having already wasted 4 hours of pain, discomfort, and missed work time for the first appointment, I had no interest in having my time wasted to come in just to view a simple video that could have been forwarded to me. I can accept that a dentist's office can have a bad day and give less than quality service for a single appointment, but I cannot accept this level of financial scamming, gaslighting, dishonesty, and low-quality service. I have explained my concerns multiple times to the dental office over the last 2.5 months, and on every call was told a different story about the Candid process and its associated charges. Candid is a great company that I researched carefully, and it is a detriment to their brand and services to be associated with this dental office. To get Candid aligners at this point, it will be $600-$700 cheaper for me to start the entire process over with any other Candid dentist in LA, which is exactly what I'll be doing. read more

I am terrified of the dentist. I have had some really bad experiences in the past and always find it hard to go to the dentist. My husband and I have been to Dr. Shoffet's office a few times and everyone is really friendly and attentive. Christina at the front desk is really helpful and really sweet. Jacob the hygenist/assistant is also really attentive and kind. The thing that I do like is that you never feel like the dentist is in a rush. She only attends to one person at a time so you are never left just sitting in the chair while other dentists start working on other patients. If Dr. Shoffet is running late then you get a call from Christina asking to push back your appointment instead of still being herded into the office and made to wait. They are also willing to work with you if the cost of your dental work is too high. They really seem to care and want to get you in the chair but not just because of dollars and cents. I am actually really surprised at Kyle's review. I had a completely different experience with Dr. Shoffet. I also received a filling for my cavity and Dr. Shoffet did an AMAZING job. I am terrified of the dentist, however she eased the feeling for me. I did not feel a thing! She billed my insurance for exactly what was done, and my deductible was close to nothing (I have really good insurance). I was not in pain, my tooth looks fabulous, and it was ultimately a really good experience. The girl at the front, Christina, was very pleasant. I had my son with me, and she made sure that he was well entertained during my visit. She was really helpful and made sure that I had all of the necessary information that I needed. She also let me know that they will start using a text message service to send out my appointment confirmations, and I am very excited about that, as I am a huge texter! My husband used her mobile services, and he was equally pleased with the level of professionalism and care that he received. This was his first time using a service like this, and now he's hooked! Even though she was mobile, she had all of the necessary tools she needed and made sure that my husband had an amazing experience. What an amazing experience! My stepdaughter chipped her front tooth when she was 9 years old but didn't want it fixed right away. We ended up at Western Dental for braces a few years ago and they offered to "fix" the chip with composite bonding. She came out 15 minutes later with her two front teeth glued together with composite bonding. She looked like a bunny with one giant tooth. In less than an hour, it ended up falling off in her mouth. It was traumatic to say the least for a 12 year old. Since this horrible experience, we've been trying to find alternatives and since she's only 15, her options are limited. I reached out to friends and family for a recommendation for a good cosmetic dentist and Dr. Shoffet came highly recommended by several friends. Dr. Shoffet was honest about her options and what to expect and didn't sugarcoat anything, which I appreciated since Western Dental didn't tell us what to expect at all. After 6 months of mulling it over, my stepdaughter finally decided to take the plunge and get it fixed with Dr. Shoffet. We are so unbelievably impressed with the results! I chose her because no other was available. So I go in and it was fine in the beginning, but then she started putting me down for having my sealant not there on my teeth (I haven't been to the dentist in a while because of insurance). When she was cleaning my teeth, she got toothpaste in my eye and didn't seem to care about it. She didn't let me get up to wash it out, instead she gave me a small paper towel thing with water to wash my eye. She also used my chest as her table for her utensils. When she took the xrays, she ruined my mouth and tongue; I have canker sores all over my mouth now. When doing these xrays, she knew that it was uncomfortable and said "oh sorry" in a sassy tone. She also watched TV a lot while doing my teeth. Thanks for the wonderful experience. I have been going to Royal Dental for almost a decade, and I will not go anywhere else. When I had my first visit about a decade ago, my teeth were in poor shape and I was really scared that any procedure would hurt a lot. Not only is Dr. Yaghoubian so gentle and attentive that there is little to no pain, but she also does not make you feel guilty about whatever condition your teeth may be in. Christina and Jacob are also so wonderful; everyone at the office makes you feel like family. I have had a long battle with teeth grinding, and she has helped me to repair the damage, keeping in mind what is most important to do first (because I haven't always had the time or funds to do everything all at once). Besides being reasonably priced and looking out for my needs, Dr. Yaghoubian's work has never failed me- filings and other work she completed many years ago are still going strong (which is something I can not say for fillings done by other dentists). I have never felt overcharged for any services I've received from this office, especially considering how the work you get lasts. For anyone who might be "scared of the dentist" as I was, I highly reccomend this office. Despite having initially been scared going in, I have even had all 4 wisdom teeth removed by this doctor WITHOUT ANESTHESIA (of course I was numbed completely, but I was awake as I did not want to be put under), and I was totally fine- in fact I had it done in two different sessions. I was searching for a local dentist one day because my 6 year old daughter had a tooth that was so loose that she could flick its back to the front. I should have just wait for just a few days, and it would fall off on its own. Long store short, I searched the website and picked this Dr. Yaghoubian due to the location and the two Yelp reviews. I called and was able to make an appointment right away, so I walked into the office at around 4:00pm. The office was empty, no other patients. I am in medical industry myself, and I visit various Drs on a daily bases. The quite office is not how a popular office should look like. Here, I lost my second chance to walk out when I sense suspicious. The first thing this Dr. was taking an Xray on the loose tooth for my 6 years old daughter. But really, the tooth is so loose, and I didn't think the X-ray is necessary. I was so regretted to let her took the xray a few weeks later when I read the new report that scientists are now linking brain tumor with dental x-ray. By standard, the dentist should only take x-ray "absolutely necessary". Dr. Yaghoubian is definitely putting $$$ before the patient! The process is very quick as you can imagine because the simple nature of this case. After she found out we have excellent insurance, she did take long time to "check" my daughter, and during her checking she tried very hard to solicit for future business. She suggested crown for my six year old because she has a little development defect on one wall of one of her tooth. Luckily I have consulted this problem with other Dr. so I understand where she is leading the conversation: $$$. Most Dr. won't suggest that kind of treatment for a 6 year old with that condition because it's not necessary. She keeps suggesting that my insurance will cover this procedure. I have to tell her that it's this type of thinking that drive US health care to the roof! I have paid $50 at the end of the visit since that's my yearly deductible, which I am perfectly fine with it. A few weeks later, I received the statement from my insurance company. Dr. Yaghoubian charged $410 for a simple baby tooth extraction!!! When I first called the office to question the bill, they said they will call me back but never did. A few weeks later, when they find out I will never going back to a doctor that puts patients' after the $$$, they demanded additional $130 that outside of my insurance coverage. read more

I live out of state and organized treatment for my mother over the phone. Dr. Shoffet did an exam, xrays and cleaning for my elderly mother who is in assisted living. The cost was $640! This includes the on-site visit, but still, the price was unacceptable. She then recommended deep scaling (even though mom had this done last year), and 3 crowns or extractions. If crowns, she recommended general anesthesia. So the total price would be about $10,000. I took her xrays to my own dentist for a consultation. He said first of all, her teeth were dirty. Second, she did have three cavities but all could be filled normally. I then took mom in person to another local dentist. He confirmed that her teeth were dirty and that she had 3 cavities, no need for crowns, extractions, or anesthesia. Obviously I will not be sending my mom back to Dr. Shoffet, nor can I recommend her. It's possible that in person she is more conservative and does not recommend unnecessary treatment. I am relieved I did not follow her treatment plan. read more

This has got to be the worst dental experience I have ever had. I got charged 451 dollars for a tooth polish not even a cleaning and some x rays! I have never been charged that much for that in my life, even when I wasn't paying insurance! They also told me that my insurance was no good, granted I have HMO insurance, but to my recollection you should at least get a teeth cleaning and x rays twice a year. If you have the unfortunate experience of a loved one who suffers from dementia, you know this can be easier said than done, especially when the loved one is not your relative. My mother suffers from dementia. She was not exactly the easiest person to deal with before dementia set in. I dreaded taking my mom to a dentist. I knew it would not be easy for me, her, or the dentist. Let's face it, none of us enjoys a visit to the dentist. Imagine what that must be like for someone with dementia. I have to say that Dr. Shoffet is an answer to prayer. She has a lot of patience and kindness, as if she were treating her own relative.
