I actually didn't have whisky at this pub, but I did have a few tasty brews, and had an excellent time at Clachnaharry's. Clachnaharry's isn't in downtown Inverness. It's more off the beaten path and is in more of a residential area (sort of NW of downtown and near where the Caledonian Canal lets out into bay). This is a really cozy place. It is in a building which looks like an Inn from hundreds of years ago--a place where a knight errant and his squire might stumble into after day of dragon-fighting. I digress. Seriously, this is a really cool place that feels like more of a local's pub. They had a dog inside who didn't seem out of place at all. I wish we would have found this place earlier in the trip because it would have been one of my multi-trip haunts---for sure.

Prices are pretty reasonable and certainly don't strain the wallet too much given the size of the portions. Beers are a more standard Belhaven range, but they do always have one speciality real ale on hand pump. Worth booking at weekends as they can get pretty busy.

Being a thin steak the cook ranged from medium well to medium rare in parts. Not like steak back in the states. I would say beef flavor came through but not enough seasoning. The vegetables and chips were very good. The Cullen skink was more stewy than soupy also it was locally made, this recipe had dill pickle bits in it. I thought it was good. Later, after the food taken away failed to re-appear, we were told, "There's been a bit of a mix-up." All the food had been thrown away. We should have pointed you towards MacGregor's as having the most delicious sticky toffee pudding, now verified after having several others that did not perfectly balance sweet with salt as that of the sticky toffee pudding at MacGregor's. If the pub is full, please find your way to the end of the bar and the small door to the left that takes you to the cosy table service room where Jess and other wait staff, including little Nala, will take the best care of you.
