Tucked away off the freeway and just down the road from Hyundai and Hone Depot is what I believe to be the last standing Allann Bros Coffee shop. Having service at Hyundai I discovered this fun piece of coffee history of the coffee and food and syrup makers. Based on their website the corvallis one was renamed to Java crew and I guess changed hands eventually to the new owner. Allann's is located on the ground floor of a warehouse building facing I5. It is quiet inside with lots of places to sit. Very relaxing and enjoyed the coffee and muffin. read more

We love your coffee! My husband has been drinking the single origin Mexican for dare I say 40 years! It saddens me that our order from August 26 still has not shipped and you can't reach customer service - email - no response, text - no response, phone - not able to leave a message or talk to anyone. I got hooked on Allan's 20 years ago when i was going to LBCC. For the last 10 years i have been drinking it exclusively. My favorites are Breakfast at 11, Afternoon in Vienna, and Allan's cup. I even continued buying and having it shipped to me when i moved to Washington. Sadly, the time has come when my body tells me I can no longer have coffee. I have lived in Albany for a couple years now and always saw this place from the 5 and wondered how to get there but never took the time to look it up. I went to the one in Eugene with a friend and they told me they had one in Albany. So, I decided to check It out! I have been here 2-3 times now and it's one of my favorite spots! It's very open inside, the workers are always SUPER friendly and nice/patient. The place has never been busy when I go which is nice, but I always wonder why. I personally love their coffee. I usually get a black house coffee, once I maybe got a latte. Everyone I have gone with also enjoys it and has had no complaints. The last time I went I got a spinach quiche, and it was really good!! So bummed I can't give a good review This used to be our favorite Wednesday lunch spot but they evidentially don't want to serve food anymore. We came in to the choice of a ham sandwich or a vegi panini. These items were all that was in the case. It was 12:06 in the afternoon on a Wednesday. The poor barista tried to say they had a large breakfast crowd but when I said that shouldn't have anything to do with lunch she admitted she had just got there and the cases were empty upon arrival. As we talked with the 10s of people who came in after this seems to be the new norm. I don't get it. If you no longer want to sell food just close it up, why risk the reputation of the coffee side of the business with poor service on the food side? read more

I was recently in Albany on business for about two weeks, and had the opportunity to try out a number of restaurants and cafes in the area. I first happened into the Beanery Cafe as it was open during the week until 8:00 p.m., and offered free wireless internet. However, after trying out more of the eateries in Albany, which generally tended to serve processed, fried, greasy, or otherwise unhealthy foods, I began to realize that the Beanery offered some of the best food choices in the area. By the end of my visit, I was enjoying about two meals a day at the cafe. The menu offers a wide selection of pastries including many types of scones (always fresh - try the ginger), coffee cakes, biscotti (the orange is great), and pies (the strawberry rhubarb is great); sandwiches; two daily soups; various vegetable, fruit, and pasta salads; about a half dozen quiches (the Lorraine is rich and delicious); various other breakfast and lunch burritos; and at lunch offers a salad bar (which I did not have the opportunity to try). All of the food at the Beanery seems to be reliably good and fresh, and there are generally a number of specials offered. The coffee at the Beanery is great too. It is all fair trade, and the baristas are friendly and skilled. There generally seems to be easy parking (the Cafe entrance is on the backside of the coffee packing building), and there are generally free tables. I highly recommend the Beanery, whether you're a local, or just visiting - it has great food, coffee, and friendly service. read more

I just want to start with saying the coffee is GREAT!! I give 5 stars for the coffee!! I had the Sumatra. Now with the BAD..... We tried the Steak and egg burrito and it was the worst thing I ever tasted!!! I wouldn't even call it food. I wouldn't give that to my dog. It's not the bangin' place it once was, but it's still one of the best coffee shops in Albany. Once, about two years ago and prior, the Beanery was hopping. At virtually anytime of day you could waltz in and the place would be humming with business. Warm bodies everywhere, folks on computers writing, typing, watching cartoons. People in business meetings. Stay-at-home moms having coffee with their friends. Then it all just kind of died. Just disappeared virtually overnight. There was a perfect storm of circumstances that just seized the shop by its throat and threw it to the ground. For one, the great help left. And in it's wake a slew of new people who were slower. Hell, "slower-er" might be the right designation. The service crawled. The old team breezed through a crowd, the new team created lines through ineptness. Two, they began putting a limit on computer use. Yes, people like me who mill about and take up a table can be a pain in the tail. But as they say: "Nothing draws a crowd like a crowd." Having three or four people take up bandwidth in a place with 20 tables creates an energy all the time. Three, they got rid of a bunch of food. Three or Four full cases of delicious food and pastry options turned to two half-full cases. All this seemed to happen at once. It was disastrous. I used to see the same faces continually then they all vanished. The slightly foreign guy who seemed to be writing a novel? Gone. The contractors I saw every afternoon? Gone. Even the stay-at-home moms seemed to disappear. Vanished. Then things started to get better. The service turned back around. Newer people behind the counter seemed more able, faster, friendlier. And the Wi-Fi policy was eased up. The food still lacks, but the Beanery is back on the upswing. I asked a barista last week, when the place was slow, and I was one of two people in the joint: "Were you here when this place was busy? Like, really busy?" "No, but I hear stories. People tell me this place used to be hopping." "it did! ALL THE TIME! WHOLE PLACE WOULDA BEEN FULL AT LUNCH!" She seemed doubtful that this was ever the case. It's hard to imagine, I guess. But slowly folks seem to be coming back. It seems a little fuller than it did six months ago. The food, for what it's worth, is okay. But it's not really a lunch place anymore, no longer a "cafe" as I described it several years back. It's a coffee shop with a couple food options. Some of the reviews, especially the ones from late 2014 through 2015, are no longer true, especially as it relates to service. If you want a burrito or small sandwich, or a pastry, it's as good or better as any other place in Albany, perhaps the best. Novak's is a more formal restaurant that does similar things in regards to pastries, and Red Daisy is a more limited coffee shop. The Beanery is somewhere between those two. read more

I really like their eggnog lattes here and they have a variety of foods to choose from. However, their soy lattes are not delicious. At all. Their regular lattes are unimpressive as well. I had a vegetarian wrap at one point and it was fine. Regardless, I come here with my study partner and camp out for a few hours to get our study on. There are more tables here than the nearby Starbucks so it's more "study friendly". This place is on our way from Eugene going north. We stop here frequently. Sometimes we are in a hurry and other times it doesn't matter. Today there were 4 counter people and many customers at tables. We like to order quiche, a sweet and coffee. Unlike other days, today's service and food was terrific. Every once in a while, I make it back to the Albany area and I head for the beanery. The problem is the place has gone downhill food wise. It wouldn't take much to fix it. Toast the bread rather than microwave it. Just a little training and attention to detail would make this place a delight again. I'm moving to the other side of the country, so I won't be able to revise this again, but please step it up for everyone else. The young woman that helped me was very nice and made a few suggestions since this was my first time here. I went with 1/2 panini and a cup of soup. I don't remember if it was chicken or turkey but it had tomato, motz, and pesto on it which was good with chicken tortilla soup that was realy great. When I want to treat my suppliers in the East, this is where I come. I introduced them to Allann Brothers with Breakfast at 11. Now I send the special of the month when it is fantastic - which it usually is. That means when they are not drinking Dunkin Donuts coffee - which is HORRIBLE - they are drinking canned coffee off the shelf. Since they do not have kiosks there to get a cup of coffee, they get GOOD coffee from right here in Oregon.
