I downloaded their app awhile ago but keep forgetting to stop by, when you download their app you get $2 to use. So I remembered we got a coupon for a Buy 1 get one free drink as well so my two daughters and I headed over to try it out. I had the java chip which is a blended smoothie or granita with Ghiradelli dark chocolate chips. It was really yummy, I prefer it over the Java chip Frap at Starbucks. My two daughters had hot chocolate and they said it was better than Dutch Bros. I like that they have a variety of food items as well. We will definitely be back to try other drinks and food items. I usually love coming to human bean but I was a bit frustrated after yesterday's visit. I typically get coffee and a bagel. I was told that they aren't currently using any ovens because it is too warm out. I was flustered because every other food place is still using ovens, as well as it still being morning time and cool. I go to this human bean a lot! One girl in particularly stands out. I think her name was Claire. She is so sweet and i went in having a very rough day at work and she had nothing but a smile on her face and seemed to give off her same energy. I recently went back but i have not seen her the last few times i went. This other girl was helping me. she had short brown hair almost like a bob. She didnt fill my 8 oz green tea smoothie all the way to the top. I ordered a Carmel hazelnut latte with hemp milk and received this which is basically coffee and water. Has no flavor at all. I ordered this same drink two days ago and it was awesome. I love the human bean. Not only are the girls that work there very friendly but they also know all my coworkers and my drinks. To where I pull up and I tell them names instead of drinks. the coffee is better than Starbucks. I used to be a die hard Starbucks drinker but since finding the human bean I only go there. We even went to Vegas and found a human bean there and yes I took the 30 minuet drive just to get my coffee instead of the Starbucks that was in my hotel. Good coffee - Bad service I've been going to The Human Bean at this location for over a year. Here is what I've experienced: 1) They never put a sleeve on hot drinks. I have reported this to them four or five times now and they usually don't respond. When they do they say, "We always put sleeves on our hot drinks." It has become quite a joke between me and a coworker who goes with me and has seen it. 2) Last Friday they put my coffee bean in the whipped cream and it sunk. I never got to enjoy it. 3) Even though I speak clearly, in English, and plenty loud enough for them to hear they almost always come back to the window and say, "Did you say you wanted..." I do not recommend them even though their coffee is pretty good. My favorite place in Albany is Snow Peak Coffee. They have excellent coffee and amazing service. Every time! UPDATE: Even though my coworker handed them a note with "20 oz. hot w/ sleeve" they still did NOT give me a sleeve. He didn't notice it because he gets a cold drink. Do these cost a lot? I regularly visit here while working. Most every girl there is very friendly and remembers my order (large coffee with extra cream). When I've visited in the afternoon they've sometimes been to the bottom of the pot and asked if I could wait longer so they could brew a fresh pot for me instead of giving me the garbage. While the coffee is a decent price and the free chocolate coffee bean is a nice perk, I honestly just like Dutch Bros more. The Blended mochas taste similar to the latte at Costco. However, this place IS more dedicated to the coffee connoisseur, seeing as the coffee is quite strong and tastes less artificial. Dutch Bros tastes more mainstream, for lack of a better word. The Human Bean Five aspects I will be reviewing: 1-Price 2-Amount 3-Taste 4-Variety 5-Location Pro: Very delicious Con: Spendy and hard to find 1- The Human Bean is a little more spendy than Dutch Bros, my usual go to. They charge extra for it to be blended (fifty cents), per shot (fifty cents) per flavor ( twenty-five cents) or soy (fifty cents). 2- Most drinks come in eight ounce to thirty-two ounces. Some only go to twelve ounces to twenty ounces. Most of drinks are only iced when they reach thirty two ounces. The only thing I get from The Human Bean is the Java Chip Frappuccino. I get it with an extra shot so it's not as sweet tasting. It's twenty ounces of coffee with chocolate chips and I add whipped cream. The twenty ounce coffee is four dollars and fifty cents and I get an extra shot for fifty cents. Five dollars is a quarter of my gas tank, that's why I don't get the drink very often. 3- The Human Bean definitely tastes a lot better than most places. I love their drinks. The smoothies taste like actual fruit and I can taste the coffee instead of pure sugar like from most places. Every sip is very rich but sweet at the same time. The Human Bean has very good quality. 4- There's many different drinks you can get (smoothies, lattes, mochas, teas, Italian sodas, steamers, hot chocolate, brevers, frappes and rockstars). There is also snacks there like muffins scones and cookies. You can also choose to have your coffee hot, or cold (blended or iced). 5- There are not many The Human Bean locations in Oregon. It is a hit and miss if it will be in your town. Over all- The Human Bean is a very good place to get a drink whether you are going on a drive, on your way to school, or just going back home to relax. If you can afford it I suggest you try it but you might get addicted! They also have a punch card, after you buy 10 you get up to twenty ounces for free, that's always a plus! read more

My earlier review was scathing, I admit, and I am not sure if it had anything to do with what i have found to be a very pleasing adjustment in prices. I have always enjoyed, The Human Bean. I am not a hard-core coffee buff who feels the stronger the coffee is the better. In fact, I have always shied away from places like Starbucks, because, in addition to the overly Yuppified attitude, the coffee is too strong. The Human Bean is my Baby Bear, "Just Right." So, when I was being charged the 20 oz. price for an 18 oz. drink, despite my supplying the container (a hydroflask) I think I was justifiably disappointed and, may i say, mildly insulted. This seems to have changed. I am now asked what size I want. 16 oz. or 18 oz., and I am given the proper discount for my container which is much better in price than originally. In short, same great coffee, and service, and a real attempt to address a glitch in customer relations. I recommend this Human Bean and I am proud to be a regular customer again. read more

Price: The prices are very reasonable in my opinion. The drinks are priced on the kind of drink it is and the size you get it in. You can get a drink for no more then five dollars. I get a large in all the drinks I get because the price for a large for anything is well worth it. Plus every drink comes with a chocolate covered coffee bean which is so good. Experience: From the first time going to The Human Bean the tenth time its always met my standards. They treat all their customers with respect and like family. They make sure you are satisfied with your drink and will make you something different if what you didn't like what you ordered.
