    Modified hours for Easter weekend

Great Jamaican patties for a good price! This place is our go-to for delicious patties. Located in the peanut plaza mall, it's very easy to overlook this store. They also sell other items like bread and other pastries but I've only ever gotten the patties. Spicy beef, mild beef or goat curry (for those adventurous) are all great choices. Spiciness is spot on and makes for a flavorful patty. We love the flakiness of the pastry and awesome if you can go there in the morning when it's fresh and piping hot! Though make sure to not burn your mouth as the filling is super hot right in the morning. Only minor complaint is we wish the filling was a tad more meaty. You can also buy frozen full size or mini ones (makes for great party appetizers). They'll give you instructions on how to reheat.

I bought a box of spicy beef patties and a box of chicken patties last weekend, and they taste completely different now. The pastry isn't flaky anymore, and there's much less filling than before. After searching online, I discovered that the business has been sold and is under new ownership. This explains why the patties have changed for the worse. I won't be coming back.

The best spicy beef patties in Toronto

The best spicy beef patty in Toronto period. Other restaurants/places re-sell Allan's patties for a reason, so good. Buy them frozen or warmed up. Not too doughy, just the right level of spice in the beef filling.

    A dozen for $12

Fresh, hot and tasty! oh and Cheap! For a dozen it`s about $12 (around there) and every penny is worth it. I was never a fan of beef patties as it reminds me of high school years when these frozen `tummy fillers`always end up upsetting the tummy itself. Basking in its glory under the heat lamps caught the eyes of students too cool to be concerned over nutrition value. These yellow bad boys with heavenly fillings of beef, chicken, curry goat with the choice of purchasing it spicy is an exception !!! I`ve been to the best Jamaican restos located on Lawrence and Allan`s patties are through the roof with the quality factor! Plaza is crap, yes but this place makes the annoying, always-full parking lot easier to deal with. The freshness never seems to fade even after a couple of days. I just pop one in the oven and VOILA!!! It`s a great way to curb my hunger as I prepare dinner for my family. Takes the taste-testing down a notch.

Absolutely love the goat patties. The beef one was good as well. But I think the goat one blew my mind. Probably because I love goat meat and it's the first time I've had it in a patty.

Chicken patty. Super flakey and fluffy.

I hadn't heard of Brick & Butter Bakehouse, but it seemed highly regarded here, so it was a no-brainer. We showed up and the place was busy. I was a little full from the aforementioned meal, so I began looking at the smaller pastries. I eventually landed on the Peanut Butter Strawberry Crumble Financier, which I took to a nearby table and began eating. Oh man is it ever good. It's a delicious, rich cake that's subtle in its flavors but ultimately completely addictive. I honestly don't know how or if it could've possibly been any better. I can't wait to return to Brick & Butter to try some of their other offerings.

I was surprised that this few blocks really transforms the vibe - Brick & Butter Bakehouse's is near Greenview avenue, relaxing street which has a lot of green spaces alongside, giving the neighbourhood a luxurious vibe. We got - Plain croissant - Dubai chewy cookie - Canelé Plain croissant, looks beautifully golden and was flaky - I felt that it was a bit dry. It had a nice honeycomb crumb structure, but this interior was not soft. Overall taste felt very bland, leaving just saltiness/dryness on the palate. Canele was okay, but the caramelization of the outer did not achieve the bitterness I desired. The texture was not as delicate. The outer was crunchy but I felt it was too thick. Taste of the interior was good and moist. I wished to have more rummy flavor. Dubai chewy cookie - It was chewy outside like mochi, but inside was runny with some crunchy pieces. Good, but did not have depths and layers that I desired. Overall, overpriced for what was offered. But nice place to take a break when walking in this pleasant neighbourhood!

Communication is email only, which works, but it does feel a bit arms length and takes away from the personal touch you'd expect from a boutique bakery. A quick call option would elevate the whole experience. That said, the pastries and cakes are excellent, and I'd happily order again. Enjoy-Zuk.

We stopped by a couple times while in Toronto and while we were impressed initially, realized there were much better elsewhere. I nabbed the last pineapple bun with butter since it seemed highly coveted, as well as a normal pineapple bun. The pineapple bun has great flavor but tended to be a little dry. The butter helped a lot, but the bun without butter lacked the moisture - although maybe it was because we didn't buy it fresh in the morning? The trend with the pineapple bun does seem to be that the bread itself is a little dry but the ones with fillings, such as chasiu or butter, gives it the moisture it needs. The egg tarts were standard. Not bad but nothing special - and not something I would come back for. I also got a wife pastry that was not very good. Price wise, it's definitely a little steep. But it may be worth to not having to drive in poor weather to get to Markham or Richmond Hill. I do recommend coming in the morning while the pastries and buns are still fresh - it does seem to be better during the day versus at night.
