Great Beef Patties! There is another well known legacy shop in the area that makes good Jamaican Patties nearby. For my money Kensington's best BEEF Jamaican patty resides here, albeit pricer too. I still also get patties from that other place as well but if we're talking standard beef, Crumb's version wins. Crumbs also offers a vegetarian option which is not something you see often. They also slice open their patties and stuff them with various toppings like cheeses, lettuce and tomato. I've never tried the stuffed varieties but it looks awesome. Heard and saw this place on a few videos from people visitng and I love me a good patty, so made sure to stop by when we were visiting Kensington Market. I went simple since it was my first time here and got one Standard Patty and an Upgraded Standard Patty (both beef). The difference is the upgraded one comes with coco bread. I'm not generally a coco bread person because it can feel like a lot of bread/dough for me, but felt I had to do it to give a proper review. And honestly, I enjoyed the one with the coco bread as much as the one without it - it was nice and warm and didn't feel as doughy/like it was too much dough like I usually feel. I always wanted to try this place because I love chicken and beef patties, I had the curry chicken remixed patty and it is stuffed with process cheese. Right when we come the owner was giving us props very friendly and outgoing. They were making the patties fresh as well. I don't really like processed cheese but for some reason it goes well with patties, the filling melts in your mouth, soft and ooey gooey with the cheese in it as well. Out of all the places I tried in Kensington market this is one of the top places I tried. The crust was super flaky, and buttery and delicious. My husband and I were walking around Kensington market and I remember seeing this place on tik tok. Even though we had already eaten, we had to give it a try. The owner was the sweetest man. We talked about Texas and he suggested items on the menu that majority of people like. The food came out hot and we noticed he had a lot of regulars. We just got the standard spicy beef with cheese- $6.50 (Pro vs Con) Pro- The seasoning and beef seemed to be well spread and not much empty pockets. The crust pastry is flakey. Con- For the pricepoint of paying $6.5 for one patty and one slice of singles cheese is a bit steep tbh... I can go to STC and there is a patty shop in the food court area downstair that sell two patties and a drink for $5.50! And their patty is comparable to this place too... This place is decent good patty but not worth the price tag, and its not the worst patty I've had.. This place was amazing! So glad we came across this spot during our last day in Toronto! We at first ordered two standard patties: curry chicken and beef but we enjoyed it so much that we got another one: the cheese and beef patty. The food was warm and gave me so much comfort during this winter season! The pricing is more than fair. One word..Delicious! I could go on and on about how yummy the patties were. But you really should experience it yourself. When you enter it's a small place there is no indoor seating. It's a grab and go spot. The inside is vibrant and welcoming and you just smell the aromas. There is a menu on the counter and you can choose what you like. They have a range of different types of patties. You have your original beef patties and I even saw some other's like curry chicken patties. I did not try the curry chicken patty but you best believe I will be back to try it. I ordered the deluxe- no tomato and usually I go with hot sauce but decided to switch it up and get the mango sauce on the patty. I got a beef patty ($2.30) to share with my husband because we were going to have dinner shortly after and I didn't want to be too full. Overall, it was great. The crust was really crispy and the filling was piping hot. It was a little runnier than I'm used to, but very flavourful and tasty. The guy at the counter was really friendly and nice. After he gave me the patty and I paid, he gave me a fist bump and said all customers get a fist bump, lol. The store is tiny. It's takeout only, no seating and not even somewhere to stand and eat, you gotta take it to go. The sign out front says "pop up" so not sure if they are really just a pop up or if they are permanent. The good: Crumbs...you deceived me. While I was eating, expecting for all the crumbs to fall after my first bite, it was the complete opposite. To my surprise, not a single crumb dropped on my lap. Stumbled upon this pop up shop. The woman behind the counter said they'd be there until September but if they did well, maybe longer. Upon looking at the pictures and the name "crumbs" I was expecting a nice crunchy patty. The patty in all their pictures looks ultra crunchy with an egg white wash so that's what I was expecting and thought maybe that's what made them different from other patty places. However, once I got my patty, I found the pastry to be soft with no shiny egg wash like the photos seemed to have. I chose the beef patty with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, ketchup and mayo. As soon as I got it, the tomatoes and ketchup juice started leaking through the bag immediately. It made a huge mess which really annoyed me because I was in a rush and didn't have time to stand around attending to this. I was also only given one tiny, thin napkin was was definitely not sufficient. I found the patty to be overall OK. the filling inside was very moist like jelly, almost like a sauce instead of minced meat ground meat. I prefer my meat to have more texture and density. This was definitely not my favourite patty but also not the worst. If you're a ryerson student craving a decent patty or snack then I think this is a good and affordable option. read more

I decided to check out crumbs because i was next door at Little Pebbles picking up the free croffles. There were a few people going in when i was lining up for the croffles and mentioned that the patties are fantastic. The shop is quaint but the person on shift was very friendly and nice. They had many creative variations of patties which made it more like a sandwich. I got the remixed patty which had a slice of melted cheese and hot sauce and mayo. I have tried both the standard patty and the pizza pouch patty. Both were delicious! The patty crust itself was flaky, crunchy, and crispy and the inside but soft on the inside. The fillings were delicious, flavourful, and had slightly more than the average beef patty. The pizza pouch is more similar to a pizza pocket than a normal Jamaican patty but it was still amazing. Ever since ordering that, the pizza pouch has been my go-to every time I return. Service was fast and friendly but if you order a customized patty, expect to wait a tad longer. The gentleman running the shop is super friendly and kind, knows how to strike up a conversation and always gives the guests a fist bump on the way out. Overall recommendation is to try them! A surprising find as I was walking by the area, always down to try a patty! When we went they had just sold out of all their veggie and beef patties but the owner was making a fresh batch. I didn't have time to wait so I opted for the curry chicken patty, but because he had run out of the different flavours he offered us a coupon for next time. The patty itself is different from your typical ones, it was fluffy rather than flaky! It could have done with more filling in my opinion, but what I had was flavourful. He has some Grace hot sauce on the side and if you like he will cut open your patty and put the sauce inside. That way it's more customizable to the customer's palette. I had the chance to ask the owner and he said the patties are made off site but baked fresh in his little space. That way you can get them piping hot each time. I was walking along Yonge Street when I stumbled upon this tiny shop selling patties. And I happen to love patties, so it was a no brainer. I was impressed by their various offerings, but I figured on my first try I should sample their traditional beef patty. The friendly guy behind the counter, who gave me a fist bump as I was leaving, rang me up quickly and I was on my way. It's a very tasty patty. I'll admit that at first I was a little put off by the texture of the filling (i.e. it tastes like a finely-ground slurry of meat), but the more I ate the more I enjoyed this patty. There are some bold flavors going on here and I kept discovering new tastes the more I ate. It's barely spicy at all, though, and that's a disappointment. I think it might not be a bad idea if the proprietor offered the patty in mild and hot variations. Still, this is quality stuff. I stopped in for some beef patties this week. Two cost just over $5. The crust was very good. It was crispy and chewy at the same time, and thicker than average. Not too crumbly or flaky. The filling was not my favourite. The beef was minced much too finely so it lacked texture. It was more of a mush than anything. I could have used more heat and less sweetness too. In the area, I think I'll stick with Patties Express which is a little bit better and a little bit cheaper. read more

Over the years I've eaten my share of patties. Crumbs seems to do things right. The pastry is just right - not too soft and 'fatty', not so dry that it crumbles. It has the perfect amount of 'chew'. I've tried both their beef and curry chicken. The beef filling is nicely seasoned with just the right amount of 'heat' so that it doesn't kill the taste buds. Overall good patty! Tried Crumbs Patties for the first time today. I had the beef patty. It was thicker than the usual patty and def tasted better than the ones you find at convenience stores. More filling for sure. And the crust was pretty good. Only disappointment was that they didn't offer a spicy beef patty. Overall, pretty good. Not as good as Michidean patties, but it looks like they will be adding a deluxe patty (whatever that is) soon. Definitely give them a try! read more
