They are IN NETWORK on my insurance. They charged me $45 that day, and today I received a bill for $150 more to be paid. The total charge for a standard eye exam for contact lenses was $483.00!!!!!! FOUR HUNDRED EIGHTY THREE!!! I have a $10 co-pay on an eye exam. And they have billed me $195. Thank goodness my insurance covered some of the charges. I can't imagine if I didn't have coverage! I must return to pick up my contacts and hopefully the new ones are correct. I can't imagine what I will be charged if I need an adjusted prescription! Once I am all set with contacts I will NEVER use this group again. My husband has also been a patient of this group in the past but will find a new provider for his exam this year. Unless cost is not a concern, I absolutely do NOT recommend this provider

Dr Stewart and his staff made me feel comfortable throughout my time at the clinic while also explaining clearly what to expect, and now I have better than 20/20 vision. I'm a student here in knoxville, 25, my eyes were -4ish. I found Tennessee lasik through researching different facilities for the most experienced doctor. It's my eyesight so I obviously wanted the best. I thought about making a trip to Nashville but after seeing the cost difference, and how they have the same top of the line equipment here in knox, as well as the amount of experience of Dr Stewart, I decided on Tennessee Lasik for the procedure. I would recommend Dr. Colby Stewart to everyone, but especially anyone who might be scared of having lasik done. The lasik procedure seems scary when researching but the staff truly did a great job. I have never had such a wonderful experience at any medical facility before now.

They took my insurance card at the visit and when I saw my insurance was denying the claim I called them and they told me don't worry that they were working on getting into the network. This is definitely a "special" place for a PRK or LASIK surgery in 21st century. You won't see the…read moredoctors and laser machines here for laser surgery in normal days. They (doctors and machines) are all on the truck and traveling around in southeast USA. There are only a few empty rooms which David Smith share with them for "your surgery". Those rooms are only filled with equipment on the so-called surgery day. Before the surgery, you can see Woolfson once, he would give you a very brief examination and then tell you if you are suitable for PRK or LASIK (only these two). (their staff even doesn't know the new techniques which have been developed so far).(In other places, where the doctors are stationed in the city, they would give you more examinations before the surgery). Then on the surgery day, you would see him one more time. After that, you are left with David Smith. David Smith is just a ordinary doctor with a very limited knowledge on laser surgeries in Knoxville. This means if you have a problem, it is extremely difficult to see Woolfson. You would have many useless conversation with David Smith. (David Smith even said the lotemax would mess up your visions if you use it more than one month....) I told David Smith I need to see Woolfson from July of 2018, you know what? I was finally able to see him in December of 2018 after I asked them for refund. If not, I would not be able to see him forever...Woolfson is not visible after your surgery. They are traveling with the laser machine, such delicate machines are moving from time to time on their truck. If you have a problem after the surgery, Amy would not be as kind as the first time. Can you imagine that for my surgery here, even nobody told me to watch the red spot before the procedure....?????????? In the middle of the surgery, Jonathan stopped the laser and told me to focus on the red spot.....This is really ridiculous!! For him, it is just a surgery case using their cheap laser, for us, it is the entire life.... Can you imagine that after my second correction, I asked Woolfson if the thickness of my cornea is safe, he just said HOPE SO... David Smith is a good person but definitely not a good doctor on laser surgery. Jonathan Woolfson is kinda a good doctor but not a good person, he is rude and extremely difficult to meet again after your surgery. They are doctors and equipment on-the-wheel. Don't come to this place! See that truck?

Here, they provide an option of having a photo taken of eyes instead of dilation (at an extra cost). This was a welcomed alternative and saved us all a lot of time and tears, too. As someone who has never worn glasses, Dr. Best explained to me what she was doing and why, and answered any questions I had without a lot of medical jargon that would make me scratch my head in confusion. After the eye photos, she even had my son come over to look at the pics and ask her questions. He thought that was super cool. He (shockingly) told me as we left, "That was pretty fun, Mommy!" Whatttt?! We were seen very quickly and the appointment only lasted about 30 minutes, including picking out and purchasing new frames. Speaking of, there was a pretty big selection of youth frames, which was refreshing. They were all fairly affordable (most under $150) and ended up being fully covered by our insurance. Thrilled to have found this office, with high-tech exams, and highly empathetic staff.

I have been a patient of Dr. Joy Stone at the Fountain City location for several years. She has…read morealways been very professional, takes the time to explain her findings and I've always been very satisfied. At my last appointment, she found a blood clot on my retinal nerve and referred me to Dr. Matthew Cole, Retina Specialist. This is where my experience changed drastically. He is very arrogant, barely explains what is going on and obviously have a VERY BIG EGO. At the 1st appointment, from what little he said, and with my knowledge, I think I have age related macular degeneration. He said I would have to have an injection in my eye, it would not hurt. No time to think about this, it was happening now, plus it's my eyesight, I want to stay on top of this. The 1st injection, no problem. Went back for the 2nd injection, again very little communication from the physician and he seemed to be in a hurry. The 2nd injection was EXTREMELY PAINFUL and I actually screamed, it was painful and unexpected. He said NOTHING and walked out of the room. At the 3rd injection, my daughter told his assistants, who said they would give me extra numbing medication, not to worry, they would take care of it. When he came in, we told him the 2nd injection was painful and my daughter stated that she would not be able to get me to come back if this one was painful. He started talking, well actually he mumbles. that if that's what I wanted to do, fine. And said, it didn't help to give more medication, it would be the same whether they used one numbing drop. The extra drops are not needed. Fortunately, thanks to his assistants, the 3rd injection was not as painful as the 2nd. I am not uneducated, I have been a RN for over 50 years and I have worked for those 50+ years. Including one year in an ophthalmology clinic in a teaching hospital. I've worked with good doctors, bad doctors and indifferent doctors. I knew from the 1st visit there was a lot of room for improvement in his bedside manner. But I also know that often the doctors with a poor bedside manner, may be excellent in their profession. Dr. Cole may be excellent as a retina specialist, but he will not be my retina specialist. I want someone that listens to me, the patient, without getting their "feelings hurt". I want someone that will explain to me what they are doing, why they are doing it and what I can expect. Please don't feel like you need to continue to see a doctor that does not care about you, your issues and works to find a solution. There is more than one retina specialist in Knoxvillle.
