Long-time customer here. Consistently good experience at the main branch, especially when using some of the more specialized services; these folks are always top-notch professionals. Basic teller functions are a mixed bag though, most times you get a caring person, but occasionally you get an associate who seems preoccupied and disinterested. The customer service at Allegacy is absolutely horrible now. You used to be able to call in to the branch near you, but now only one main # so you have to sit in a queue to be told oh to make an appointment you have to do that online only. The online options are sparse. It is absolutely ridiculous, and I just plan to move my accounts elsewhere. read more

Long review ahead, but go on and dive in! My husband and I have been members of Allegacy for several years now and haven't had any problems with day to day banking. We just bought a house and decided to get our mortgage through them. It was the worst experience we've ever had with a bank. We were told by the loan officer, Jackie, that we would absolutely qualify for an $8,000 down payment assistance first time home buyer's program and would get $600 or so back at closing. We went through the process and they just didn't have their act together. We provided the same forms in multiple formats because of their computer system failing, or somehow they couldn't find the forms we had already sent once or twice. Our closing was pushed back from June 29th to July 2nd because they kept asking us for more papers and forms. I even had to chase down the IRS one day for a form that the bank couldn't figure out how to get, but they had to have it right away and it would be all my fault if I didn't get it to them. Then on the day we actually closed, I was called about 15 minutes before closing and asked to provide yet another pay stub. My two employers were also providing employment verification for me two days before closing and the day of closing. So we get to closing... July 2nd at 9:00AM and we sign all the papers. "We just bought a house," we thought. Leave the attorney's office and we were waiting for the sellers to close on their new house before we get our keys. While we're waiting for the keys, our loan officer calls us and tells us that we weren't qualified for the first time home buyer's program and will have to pay $500 when we go back to the attorney's office to re-sign on our house. So we go from getting $600 to having to pay $500... I don't think so! Plus our monthly mortgage payment would go up, too. We called Jackie back and told her, forcefully, that someone would provide the money, but it wouldn't be us. She talked to her manager and Allegacy said they'd cover the closing costs for us, and that she would call us when the papers were ready for us to sign. After that, it was radio silence from her. We called everyone else connected to our loan and no one had any clue about what had happened. We had no idea if or when we needed to go back to the attorney to sign papers for the loan. Finally, at 4:00PM, not having heard anything from the bank for several hours (and calling them multiple times), I called the attorney to see where everything stood. They said that the bank had sent everything over about 45 minutes beforehand. Keep in mind that Jackie said she would call us when things were sent to the bank. So we rush to the attorney's office and sign again, but because of the bank messing everything up with delays and sheer incompetence, we weren't able to get our keys until the next day. I had 20 people waiting for us to tell them when we were ready to move, and only had a short window of time to do it in because my husband and I were going on a vacation (booked months in advance) the weekend after we closed. And my husband had to cancel a doctor's appointment because we weren't sure when the bank was going to ask us to re-sign on a house that we had already signed for. That's the cliff notes version. Moral of the story is: don't get a mortgage loan with Allegacy. read more

I have been with Allegacy for over 20 years. My banking experience with them for the most part has been positive, informative, and helpful. When I have had a problem with anything, I call and they straighten things right out for me. They have retained the feeling of hometown banking where you feel you are known (I usually go to the same branch as well). We have just set up our business banking with them and when an issue arises, I call and, although it may take some time, it gets straightened out! I can't imagine changing our finances to anyone else. I only wish we were able to get our mortgage with them (not due to anything on their part). read more

Place is a joke. I have had accounts with Summit Credit Union, Wells Fargo, BB&T, Pinnacle Bank, and many others and have never seen anything like the application process here. I literally walk in, ask for an account, provide basic info and bam its opened. Opening an account here benefits them MUCH more than me, so why make it so hard to get one opened? I apply online, they charge my card 55.00 up front PRIOR to even approving the "application", then keep asking about some settlement from BB&T which I am not in anyway aware of. So I request to cancel 5 times and still have not gotten my money back on my card. Next step is to dispute the charge. Not a smart way to do business. read more

Unfortunately the option does not exist to give zero stars. WORST. FINANCIAL. INSTITUTION. EVER. $150 in bank fees for $6 overdraft? No notification for 27 days? Uncaring associate who wouldn't even listen? Didn't seem to care about retaining my business? Avoid at all costs!! read more
