I am leaving this practice after seeing Dr Stern for 38 years. Since the purchase of Allegheny Optical by My eye Doctor, it has become clear that they are much more interested in profit than in taking care of Pts. Dr. Stern is wonderful, but I can no longer do business with a company that decides out of the blue that they are going to make people get exams every year, when state law states a prescription is good for 2 years. People are now forced to pay out 2x cash since most vision plans will cover an exam or lenses, not both. While on the phone with Ruxanna, when I requested copies of my medical records, her response was "Fine, but we are going to write expired on your prescriptions." She then slammed me on hold claiming I was "Yelling" at her, which is what most people her age do now when presented with situations they can't handle. read more

They are now MyEyeDr. I have been using them on and off for the last ten years when they were Allegany Optical (before MyEyeDr bought them out). I went in for an appointment and the receptionist was courteous. Went through all COVID protocols. The last time I got glasses I had tried progressives and they didn't work (dizziness and hard time adjusting) so I had them changed to distance only. This time when I saw the doctor, she tested me for distance but saw no need to test me for close vision/reading. I asked why because I wanted my reading prescription as well as distance prescription. She said she didn't have my reading prescription history so there was nothing to compare against to see if my eyes were weaker or not. I wasn't sure what my prescription was and asked her to test me for it. We went back and forth for five minutes until she turned around and said she found my reading prescription in the Allegany Optical system and we could use that to compare to see if I had the same prescription or if I needed an updated one. Why avoid testing me for reading glasses?! I finally got the prescriptions and needed to leave to get back to work. While I was waiting for the copay to be charged I was encouraged by the staff to look at frames. When I told her not now because I was in a rush, she proceeded to tell me about the added perks to using them with my insurance ($200 credit for lens and frames, etc). I had made it clear I was not interested and needed to *go*. Overall I had a very disappointing experience even though they were courteous about using voice to text translation on the iPhone to communicate w me because I am deaf and usually depend on lipreading. read more

If I could give them a negative star rating, I would. This is the most unprofessional, discourteous office I have ever experienced. There is always an issue scheduling and their staff is so rude and unaccommodating. Every year I receive the reminder for my family to schedule our exams. I go online to schedule and I get a phone call telling me that my appointment(s) can't be kept because the only Doctor that participates with my insurance will not be there that day. They offer to reschedule me and when I say yes, they tell me a date months away rather than accommodating me due to their error. When I tell them it is unacceptable, they have no care, concern or empathy. They have attitudes and do not try to help. They always blame the website as being the issue/error rather than owning their responsibility. I have tried to speak to the office manager as well and she is just as nasty. They changed their name but their lack of compassion remains. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. I scheduled an appointment with the a woman who clearly hated her job which in turn left me talking to a grumpy, rude receptionist. I got several calls after scheduling the appointment saying they needed my insurance info and I them I would call back on Monday. I continued to get calls throughout the weekend from different people asking for my insurance even though I said I would call Monday. I did have some issues sorting out my insurance because I wasn't giving the right info - so shame on me there. But in figuring it out I was called and called in to be put on hold, picked up several times, started to be helped, put on hold, told call back people are at lunch. Then after getting everything finally sorted... 20 mins before my appointment they called to cancel due to an "emergency". I get it that things happen and the Dr. probably did have an emergency but after the rudeness, disorganization, and un-professionalism I am not rescheduling. I found V Eye P who were professional and helpful and got me in to an appointment the same day. read more

Not so sure about the only other review here. It was a long time ago too. I took an appointment since I have stepped into my 40s and needed help. The front office staff is really really good. Check in was fast, hassle free. The person who does the initial testing was young and seemed inexperienced. She never introduced herself or explained what was going to happen. I would like to be told and have the process explained before you do anything. Well after that I was asked to fill out the paperwork and even though I had an appointment I waited for almost 45 minutes and people who had come in after me were taken in first. No explanations were provided. Then a person who I assume was the doctor then came out and asked me to come in. No introductions, no process explanations or anything in the way of small talk. Just spent ten minutes and felt like a wall. I was pushed very very hard to get glasses, even though I said I was more interested in other options. No other options were presented, no explanation of what I had going with my eyes. It was the weirdest thing. Felt like she had no idea what was going on. I left and was almost to the door and was asked to come back and sit down. Then a tall lady with glasses said what did I want. I said nothing. I was contemplating what my next move was going to be - she said they will send me a bill. I said I was ready to pay then and took out my card. Well then she said it was only the exam and so my insurance covered it and there was no charge. I wish the process was more professional. I called another place to get an eye exam the next day. I couldn't trust them to take care of my eyes. Specially the doctor. I would discourage everyone to go there even when it becomes Our Eyes. This place seemed like a fake. I would t trust my nails with the doctor let alone my eyes. read more

Eye doctor bed side manner is terrible. When you ask a simple question she comes across as harsh and bothered. "The nerve to ask me what your options are" tyoe of response and attitude. The staff was nice though. I will not return. read more

Went here last year with my daughter and had a great experience getting her contacts. Received text message it was time for her annual and when I called was told with our insurance the soonest we could get an appointment was August. Really she should go with out her contacts for 7 months? What a crock don't go here. It got worse they just called back and won't release my daughters records read more

Terrible - well, not terrible because the person who answers the phone was nice and the optician was very professional and pleasant. But the sales people! Horrible experience. They were so pushy! I had had an excellent experience at My Eye Doctor off of 26 so I assumed it would be the same at this location. We had three different sales people pushing my son to make a selection and we were so rattled we decided to leave and go back later - so I asked for a copy of the script. But they WOULD NOT GIVE IT TO ME because they said the glasses were part of the eye exam. I had made it clear before the appointment that we may not get the glasses the same day. I should have insisted but we were tired and decided to go get a bite to eat and recuperate and told them we would be back in an hour. They wanted to know where we were going to eat, exactly when we'd be back, and became very unpleasant. My son was near tears. Needless to say I would never go back there. What a terrible way to do business. And we actually saw a pair we really liked and were probably going to get them but we really needed to eat first. Would never go there. read more

I took my son there every year for his checkup, and I was OK with their doctor and their services. As soon as they switched to MyEye Dr., the customer service went downhill. They laughed at me over the phone, kept me on hold for over ten minutes after I asked a simple question, and got my son's appointment time wrong. So I cancelled the appointment and am going somewhere else (especially since their 7th street location moved - I used to go to the FSK mall for the optometrist, since the 7th street one is awful, and then go to 7th street to pick out glasses). read more

I has been to several optometrist for contact fittings for almost 26 years. This was the first time a doctor took the time to really explain why and how contacts are constructed and what I'm looking for in a fit. The office staff was extremely helpful and very nice to build my daughters and myself. I highly recommend this place for all of your Eyecare needs. I am looking forward to going back and getting fitted in a pair of great-looking frames. They had a wide selection of styles and price points available read more

Literally the most poorly ran business I've ever dealt with. I came for the cheap prices of glasses, and clearly I'm getting what I paid for. I called to make an appointment, made the appointment, called back a couple days later to confirm, got the confirmation, arrived at my appointment and there was no appointment!!! So while I'm standing there waiting for the woman at the front desk to get me into their system, another man walks up for his appointment. The woman at the front desk drops everything she's doing with me and immediately starts to help him. She checks him in and takes him back for his pre-exam all while I'm standing there baffled that I was no longer being helped. She didn't ask anyone else in the office to help me while she took care of the other person, I literally just stood there and waiting 15 minutes for her to come back. After 15 minutes, the manager comes up and asks if I've been helped. I told him that typically, people are served on a first come-first serve basis and that was not the case. He apologized and WALKED AWAY. No resolution whatsoever. Finally, she came back, I was pissed and she could tell. She quickly did whatever she needed to do to get my appointment made and took me for my pre-exam. I was there for a total of 2 hours mostly standing and waiting. I should've just left but I needed to get this done that day. read more
