The plane had to let someone get off the plane to reduce the weight of the plane (there was construction on the runway and we had to lessen the load to be able to get in the air easily) and then we had to spend another 20 minutes dumping 200 lbs of fuel (which I couldn't stand what it was doing to our atmosphere). I also was concerned about my family making our next connection from LaG to PBI (we ended up making it but barely). In the middle/end of the flight, I asked the flight attendant when we would land and she proceeded to tell me the name time that the original expected time was (which is impossible) - I was right - we were able to get off the plane quickly and had to majorly hustle thru LaG to get to our plane.

My experience was awful. When my flight got delayed and I was going to miss my connection that was…read morevery little effort to help other than giving me a 1-800 number to call. When my flight then got even further delayed (not due to weather issues) I was told by a delta agent who was trying to help me the best she could that united could switch my flight to the delta one that would leave early the next morning. I went to ticketing and they simply just told me no they couldn't do that with zero explanation or effort to further help, and as much as to simply stare at me and give me a dirty look. I got stuck with my almost four hour delayed flight, and then on top of that delay we boarded significantly later than we were supposed to, and the entire time that was absolutely nobody at the united desk at my gate. Terrible customer service, terrible problem solving, and a huge disappointment.

Southwest only 'rents' space at DSM and say their hands are tied when there are complaints. Flights are either delayed or cancelled & it's only getting worse at all airports. I fly nearly weekly and will be switching air carriers with SW charging for bags and assigning seats. SW had a hostile take over a year ago and the 'nice' has disappeared. I'd rather take my weekly flying business elsewhere to get points to be able to travel internationally. And, although internet service is stated as a 'perk' reward, it never works so forget doing business on a flight. Flights are usually short and connecting, so despite weather conditions, beverage service is often cancelled. To save on cost, the checkin process begins EXACTlY 2 hours prior to take off time (not boarding time). So you can stand there and see the employees exit their break room not one minute sooner to check in guests. You may be standing in A list priority boarding but they'll take the other lane first. I've memorized Becky's gate speech for boarding and it reminds me of the Jack in the Box drive through speaker.
