Pre-COVID review Wow, it seems like some people have had really bad experiences with Allegiant. Fortunately I haven't had any awful experiences so far with this budget airline (knock on wood). I've used Allegiant for their nonstop flights to Orlando Sanford and Fort Myers. I personally really like nonstop flights so I try to find them whenever possible. Allegiant is definitely a budget airline where you have to pay for everything, including your seat, carry on, checked luggage, and food and beverages on board. There are no fancy entertainment systems on these planes. I don't really mind that as I typically sleep on flights anyway. I am willing to pay for convenience, and the nonstop flights that Allegiant provides is that convenience. I usually only travel with a carry on so that helps cut down on costs a bit (but you still have to pay for that). Be sure to bring snacks and a bottle for water, as they don't even offer a complimentary cup of water on these flights. A small bottle is $3. On one of the Allegiant flights, my boyfriend and I purchased a cheese and charcuterie package for $6 which was actually very delicious and a great snack for our quick flight. I have more trips coming up with Allegiant (edit: well, I did until COVID happened!) and I intend to book more flights with them in the future. read more

Stuck at the airport for over 12 hours with Allegiant. Our 3:30 PM flight out of JAX didn't get us home until 5:00 AM. First, we waited for pilots to drive from Tampa to Jacksonville. Once a pilot finally showed up, the flight attendants timed out, forcing another wait for a new crew. Completely unacceptable service. read more

I've flown Allegiant Air out of LAX to Bellingham WA for the direct flights and cost is good. Never had issues with purchasing flights. I always purchase their total package, mainly for the option to change flights should I need to. I've never had to until a few days ago, and the experience so far is not good:( First attempt was to do it online myself via "manage my trip" option. Every time I attempted to "change my flight", I "select new flights" for the dates and changes I wanted to make, it shows seats available, then hit "continue", a statement message appears "Something really odd just happened...an unexpected error occurred while we were processing your request. Please click below and try again" this becomes a never ending loop, it takes me back to the very beginning showing my upcoming trip without any changes. Therefore, after multiply attempts to do it myself for a few days with no luck, it was time to another option...call direct 702.505.8888. Seriously? Ha-ha what a joke...good luck getting through constant busy signal. Third, I attempted the text option, still no luck as I was told to call the number I had been calling. I'm tempted to go to an Allegiant Air counter at the airport and see if anything can be done in person. read more

I understand the amazing low prices Allegiant has however, this should not produce low customer service. I had a 6:00am flight from Grand Rapids, Mi (GRR) to Orlando/Sanford Airport (SFB). I was traveling with my 4 year old granddaughter and we arrived at the airport 4:30am, plenty of time to check in and get to our gate. (I could not checkin online and pay for my luggage so I arrived early to take care of that part). However, when we arrived there was a massive line wrapped around the stanchions ending near the airport's doors leading outside. While standing in line I noticed there was just one agent working the desk. Eeeeekkkkk.....we waited and waited and waited until finally, someone bold enough walked to the front of the line and told the agent that her flight leaves for SFB in 30 minutes! She finally said, "Anyone who is going to Orlando/Sanford please come to the front of the line". Approximately half of the customers raised their hands and proceeded to the front. (She almost caused a stampede!) It's finally my turn to check in. I explained I could not check in online last night therefore I need to pay for one check on luggage. Needless to say she was stressed and "upset" that I had an extra step to take in this checkin process because of the line of upset faces staring at her from behind me, but what was I to do. She says, "This will cost you $50 and I'm not sure if your luggage will make this flight" and she tags it with a yellow "Late Checkin" tag as if this was somehow my fault. Anywhoooo, to wrap this fiasco up, Allegiant had my 4 year old granddaughter in a window seat sitting next to an older man IN A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT ROW THAN MYSELF!!! (Yes I'm yelling) It's amazing to me because she saw this seating arrangement when we checked in but instead of taking care of this issue first, she focused on my luggage to ensure I coughed up that $50!!! We get on board, I inform the wonderful flight attendant who switched us to an empty row because get this.....the plane was more than 50% empty!!! Empty rows everywhere and she couldn't switch us! In conclusion, the plane took off 30 minutes late because there was only ONE agent checking people in and the ole saying, "You get what you pay for" comes to mind. read more

I booked a round trip flight. I had to change one of the flights. I could change the flight but would not allow to choose a seat therefore could not continue to check out. The cost was 19.00 dollars. After waiting 90 minutes on the phone I reached someone. They charged me 97 dollars. I told them what was online and he said this is the price and nothing he could do about it. I almost thought about getting a credit card to earn miles to travel back and forth but now not going to do it. I will keep my Delta Sky Miles Amex and use points even if not a non-stop flight. Worst customer service ever. Estimated wait time to talk to someone is always 2 plus hours and even after that the call magically drops. Sometimes it's a Estimated 7 hour wait. I've flown Allegiant three times: twice to Vegas and once to Fort Myers. It's the perfect budget airline for me because I don't require much leg room and my clothes all fit in a carryon for a weekend trip! I've heard less than positive reviews from people who need more in flight but I'm always in for a good deal on flights (so I can spend more when I'm at my destination!) so I can shrug off the luxuries of free carryons and free peanuts/beverages! Recently, I found out that you can buy flights at the Allegiant airport counter to bypass paying the convenience fee that they charge online and over the phone! Naturally, I jumped on the opportunity to save money even if it meant driving across town and also paying $2 for short term parking (for half an hour). Before heading to the airport, I wanted to fact check what I read on-line so I called the Allegiant customer service line and requested the GRR counter hours: They are open and available to process flight purchases 2 hours prior and 1 hour after every scheduled outbound flight. That gave me a lot of options to make the trip to the counter! Luckily when I arrived (about 1 hour before an outbound flight to Orlando), there was only a couple checking in for their flight. The entire process took less than 30 minutes and all they required was my name, birthday, credit card and email address. I had already memorized the flights I wanted to book, so I rattled that off to the agent while she searched for them! The agent was efficient and friendly. After, I received a printed copy of my transaction and my flight details. It listed my flight with taxes and fees at $202. This same flight was listed as $229 online. Minus the $2 parking fee and not counting in the gas and time I spent to get to GRR, I saved $25! Worth it? I think so! read more

The weather is life threatening just getting to airport btw It is now 6:15 pm and plane still had not left the airport. Today was my 5th flight, since Nov 5th, 2018 between Florida and Michigan, it may be my last, even though I need to fly again next month. The seat was not the seat I purchased when booking, they changed Air Bus on me, the flight attendants where rude, nin caring, to involved with their own personal lives to take care of passengers, including one who was checking on something, being a nurse I asked them to give the passenger a drink of water to be told they would have to buy one for 2 dollars "Really" I guess their 2 dollars means more than someone's life. Where do I start? I've been flying for over two decades, the last of which I've normally always done with Delta. So, for TEN years, Delta has never once damaged my luggage. The TWO times I fly with Allegiant, they completely OBLITERATE my luggage. I mean.... COMPLETELY. Pieces of luggage were hanging off all over. The handle was completely RIPPED OUT. The zipper wasn't even there anymore. I could go on and on in further detail, but what's the point? Sure, they can replace my luggage, but they really can't - mine was $499, hard-case, was a limited edition, and is no longer in production. The luggage they offered me was the most basic soft-case $100 luggage (if even that). Then there's the service...... Flight attendants has absolutely ZERO interest in being there. They were rude to all passengers, were more interested in gossip amongst themselves, and gave really annoyed, dirty looks if you asked a question (like where the nearest lavatory was, or if they had a tissue), and they just completely ignored all the passengers (and I know some passengers can sometimes be difficult, but this flight everyone was really quiet and didn't ask for much). Yes, they're cheap, but so are other airlines and other airlines still somehow manage to hold higher standards of service than Allegiant. In all my years of experience in flying, United is by far the worst, followed VERY closely by Allegiant. And the ONLY reason I put them behind United, is because the Allegiant aircraft did have some type of cabin humidifier that made the atmospheric cabin air more comfortable. But that's it. read more

Oh Allegiant! I listen to people complain about this airline all the time, delays, cancellations, incidental changes for everything...yup, all true. I have flown Allegiant over a dozen times, all the GRR to PIE and back. At least half the time the flight is delayed, for a variety of reasons. Only once has my flight be cancelled and rescheduled for the next day. ( I got a $100 voucher that time) And yes they change for everything, checked bags, carry on bags, picking seats, even printing your boarding pass. HOWEVER, I still give Allegiant four starts because even with all of that they are by far the most reasonable price. Which is why I continue flying with them. We have used Allegiant many times but the trip yesterday was VERY SCARY due to the total lack of concern by the airline for our health and safety during these times of corona virus. When I made the reservation seats were blocked for the passengers safety but the actual flight was full including the middle seats. No passengers were required to wear a face mask and many didn't. It has become very obvious to me that Allegiant management is much more interested in making money than the safety of their passengers and employees.. Flights are pretty cheap....about $60 from GRR to PIE. But wait....if you want to bring aboard a bag...well that will be another $30. If you want to check in baggage.....add $40 per bag. You want to pick where you sit? Okay.....$5-$17 extra, depending on what seat you pick! Better print your boarding pass on your home computer, or use your i-phone, or you will have to cough up another fiver. You want priority boarding, so that you can sit on the plane longer than most, that's another five spot. They serve snacks Pringle's: $2. Water: $2. We were flying out of Phoenix Mesa on October 24 and had the absolute worst experience today trying to figure out how to get a new flight after mine was cancelled two hours before the flight, after already being delayed 4 hours . We asked to speak to a manager after they refused to help us get a new flight (that wasn't over a week later), or find us a new hotel/place to stay, or help us pay for an Uber/Lyft, and they stated "there isn't a manager". The refund was not even close to what I paid for for my bag and the flight and I was completely disappointed with the service. They knew the flight wasn't going to happen today and didn't just cancel it before we spent the time going all the way to the airport. I also took allegiant to my destination and the flight attendants, while nice were wearing jeans and it wasn't very professional. Since there was no manager we had to speak to the supervisor who was absolutely no help and thought it was funny that we were stressed. There was a poor family with young children asking for help because they weren't provided with any new flight information, a hotel, or transportation. It was so sad to see so many people confused and needing help because the staff was just so useless. They told everyone to "fend for themselves" and to start leaving the building if they weren't staying the night in the airport and took a wheelchair away from a poor old man. We asked where there was a water bottle filling station because we were parched after having a long and stressful conversation that got us no where, and they told us "your dehydration is not our problem". Forced us to deplane with little to no explanation and we have been standing around for close to 2 hours waiting for a new plane that they promised would be ready for boarding. Very displeased with this situation, and will not be flying Allegiant again. I recommend Delta or Southwest, as I have had much better experiences with them. Also, the company promised safe social distancing between seats when we booked tickets. It was shown that every other re would be blocked off and there would be at least one seat between strangers. Flying rather frequently between work and visiting family, I would have to say my experience at MidAmerica has been the most disappointing trip in my life. Employees were very rude, check in was rediculous then you have to check your bag at one spot, carry luggage to another drop off point, then go through the rudest most incompetent TSA I have ever dealt with. An obviously feeble older gentleman in front of me accepted his boarding pass at check in refused it at TSA. This poor man had to go do whole process over I guess, hope he made it. I get the whole deal is a cheap flight and this was an emergency trip due to a surgery for my mother. I get the economy aspect would not offer what Lambert or Sky Harbor in Phoenix offers however, the attitude of the employees at MidAmerica are rediculous. Money is still spent for these flights. As stated this was my first experience with Allegiant, Mesa airport was pleasant. I would definitely have to be in an emergency situation to ever choose this airline again. read more

By far the worst, most poorly run airline around. Our last two flights have been delayed between 8-12 hours due to poorly scheduled pilots, and numerous mechanical issues. If you need to get somewhere on time don't trust Allegiant. With all their additional charges they are not much cheaper than the other airlines. The only thing we liked about them is the non stop flights but that is meaningless when they cannot stay on schedule. My wife and I were sitting in the terminal 40 minutes before our flight left, trying to go to Vegas for our honeymoon. Never heard a boarding call, never received a call that they claim they placed. 10 minutes before the plane left, they closed the doors. We ran all over trying to get in contact with the plane, before we found a desk guy. He went and spoke to the pilot, who said that they were closing the flight. Now, we are stuck at the airport, with our luggage on its way to Vegas, and us sitting here fighting to make it to Vegas...or at least a refund, which doesn't look promising either. Horrible customer service, zero accountability. Never again will I bother with a sub par airline. You have forever soiled any possibility of us ever using your services again. WORST ABSOLUTE WORST. FLIGHT DELAYED 1 HOUR, THEN 2.... 3 hours go by. I asked the attendant what was going on, no idea.... sit back down and try to be patient. Notice our flight has been removed from the list on the screen above. Hour 4 and a half hours and I receive a text the flight is cancelled. A line a half mile long to discuss what they they'll do to rectify the situation. They try to give us hotel vouchers for a FULLY BOOKED HOTEL Customer service was extremely rude. The next flight wasn't out til 3pm the following day, we lost out on 2 days of vacation, rental car fees, hotel lodging, parking, missing two days off of work. Total nightmare. Update to story. Yesterday I was sent to security without a boarding pass. Security sent me back to RUDE ticketing agent. Even ruder Allegiant 'manager' gave me a phone # to call to complain. I was on hold for 45 minutes before being allowed to get another flight the next day. Today, I arrived to airport 1 1/2 hours early. Got through the line and security in under 10 minutes. Don't tell me that this couldn't have been accomplished yesterday. The ticketing agent THIS TIME was effective and polite. The other agent (who turned me away the day before) was there as well. As I left, I told her it took 10 seconds to get a boarding pass (I timed it). Customer service matters! Obviously, Allegiant is hit & miss with customer care. Be advised! read more

Our return flight to GRR from Orlando had to turn back to Orlando for the night after plane pressurized, potentially injuring some babies and people in flight. Really terrible experience. News reports stated statistics that 50% of Allegiants fleet experienced cancellations of flights this year due to in-air emergencies. Not worth the trouble and safety risk! read more

The fares aren't really cheap after they add charges for everything except the air you breath. AND THEN THERE IS THE CREW. They separated parties and made them board separately. They filled the forward overhead bins with their own bags so the passengers had to scramble for a place for luggage. They assigned 3 people the same seat and then YELLED AT US over the mic that we were taking too long to get seated. read more

I'm am not surprised to read many of these complaints. Not because they have merit but entitled passengers are expecting free full service for an economy flight. They sound ridiculous. They say " I didn't get a free drink and peanuts." "My flight was delayed because of weather." "They wouldn't let me put my bag where their not suppose to be." "Our flight cancelled and they refunded my money and gave me money." " My flight was delayed because of mechanical issues." I have flown several different airlines. I encountered the same issues with each of the airlines. Allegiant gives the passengers what they ask for. They give you an affordable choice for travel. Yet here you are complaining that you didn't get your 50 cent peanuts and your can of soda. BTW, I would prefer they fix a mechanical issue before I fly. If you watch other Allegiant passengers you would see some common traits. Mainly many know what to expect because they read the notification when they booked the flight. They already know that you can carry one small pc of baggage on without additional costs and they adjust the wardrobe accordingly. In fact because the flights are so affordable I can fly several times a year. Thus, I leave my colder weather clothing at my sisters homes. Another complaint I see is the flight attendant was too slow, to fast, too loud, too quiet. . . Being a flight attendant is tough, but the job is made even tougher by inconsiderate pushy passengers. I have never had an issue with any flight attendant because I don't use them as an outlet for my bad mood or personality. I am always treated well because I treat others the way I want to be treated. Princess, if you don't want to fly economy flights then fly the airline that gives you your peanuts. Those that appreciate the airline would enjoy the flight more without your whining voices. I will add that I find the smaller airports faster and really convenient. read more

What originally started as a 4 hour delay turned into an over 6 hour delay. All due to the fact that Allegiant had poorly scheduled the pilots and the pilot had to drive across the state of Florida to get to the St. Petersburg airport from a different airport he had flown into. I'd been warned before about them always being late. If you want to save money and don't mind these delays and getting into your destination after 2:30 am then definitely book Allegiant. Needless to say this is likely the first and last time I fly this airline. Not worth the $50 savings. Oh, and make sure you read the luggage fine print. We made sure to only take a personal item so we weren't charged a great deal extra. read more
