According to my health insurance company, MUSC has not taken any action to resolve the issue. Fraudulent billing. PSA: All women with health insurance are entitled to free annual well-woman exams under the Affordable Care Act. The exam needs to be billed correctly as preventative care.

Some healthcare facilities here clearly just push patients through and you barely get 5 minutes of the doctor's time. You won't get that at Carnes Crossroads Primary Care, or any MUSC facility for that matter. Dr. Bigelow was highly recommended to us. He has very good bedside manner and I appreciate that he actually takes the time to listen to what is going on. Plus the MUSC MyChart app is very useful for tracking test results and for communicating with your healthcare team. The only problem that I have is that everyone else in the area must be going here too because it's near impossible to get a same day appointment. I was told if you are sick you can almost always get an appointment same or next day, but I'm not sure how accurate that is. For example, my son has a possible infection and called 8am Monday morning to schedule an appointment and the earliest they could see him was Wednesday at 4pm. So it's kind of a catch 22: you'll great health care here but only if they have the time to see you. Even with that, I highly recommend going here.

The prior three plus years have been a total train wreck in the office. My last appointment, I sat listening to the MD attempting to train another new hire, on the other side of the door. There was no apology or explanation as to why I was, as the first patient, kept waiting for over thirty minutes. My invested time is of no value to this group. My requested referral yielded, from the MD, turn left on Tricom and that specialists is somewhere down that way. Unfortunately, I was not able to play that game. So I telephoned the front desk to clarify. This time I was directed to the Trident Hospital switchboard! No referrals there either... I'm off to a new hospital and new PCP. One that had the qualities of this organization many years ago. Additionally, I am recovering from my second occurrence of being over medicated by this MD in the prior seven months. Such poor attention to details and patient well-being. So sad. Perhaps, your experience will be better! Perhaps.

Since last year, I have had frequent appointments with Dr. Maria Streck, one of MUSC's immunologists, who fortunately for me, practices out of this convenient location. What a pleasure ... park right outside the storefront (lots of free parking) and walk right in. Check in is quick and Dr. Streck is always on time. Pre-visit check in is completed on line, prior to my visit, so review by staff is quick and easy. I've had some major and still emerging health issues over the last year and Dr. Streck has been wonderful. She is patient, supportive, compassionate and explains terms in a manner that is easy for me to understand. She quickly responds to questions I send to her through the MUSC mychart portal, unfortunately, a rarity these days. While I'm not sure where my journey will take me, Dr. Maria Streck, is a constant I can count on.
