I can't recommend this office enough. I'd previously been here for glasses, but decided I wanted to finally try contacts. Dr. Hoek and his staff work hard to ensure you're comfortable and satisfied with what you're going home with. Heather sat with me patiently for like an hour, helping me figure out how to get these things in my eyes LOL. I had to come back a few times and tried many, many samples (my fault, not theirs - I have weird eyes) to find the most comfortable and clear option. But Dr. Hoek always had suggestions at the ready, options to try, and he kept working until we got what was perfect for me! I confidently believe that I would not have gotten such care anywhere else. A negative review from 9 years ago ought to be deleted. Dr. Hoek has been my optometrist for probably 40 years. He is always updating his technology. Every exam I've had are through. He is patient, very friendly, and an expert in his area. Recently I had some dramatic changes in my vision due to a medical situation. All of my concerns were discussed and resolved . I was able to get my son in within a day of calling. Dr. Hoek was very friendly, great with kids, and extremely helpful. He explained everything as he was checking the eyes. My son barely lets me put drops in his eyes so Doc's sense of humor helped make my son feel comfortable! Doc went the extra mile in treating my son's eye that clearly had inflammation. I found this place after having care that wasn't working at another place. I called and the lady that answered was so nice. She was able to get me in that day. Upon arrival I found the place to be this quaint little house. Once inside the staff was very friendly and welcoming. The wait to see the doctor was not long. Without going into detail as to what was wrong with me I will say that this man is nothing short of genius! Whatever he tells you to do just do it. I promise you it will work. I thought what he told me to do was crazy but immediately after the first time I did as he said I saw noticeable improvements!! After five minutes! I had been receiving treatment at another place for over two weeks and nothing but things worsening. When they say that experience matters this is exactly what they are talking about. I was fortunate enough to stay in the area long enough to be able to return for an eye exam. Again, a wonderful experience. This guy really knows his stuff. His staff is so kind and knowledgeable. If I lived in this area this would be our family doctor. The residents are very fortunate to have such a knowledgeable doctor there to be able to provide care for them and their families. read more

I've been seeing Dr. Hoek for some time now - first time was years ago when he was getting his OD at UC Berkeley. Great service, good sense of style regarding what glasses work and do not work for you. Excellent with contacts and vision care. My wife and kids all go to him. It's a bit of a drive for me but well worth it. His selection and prices are very good for a non chain optometrist. I have had a variety of designer frames from him that rock, including my sunglasses. I will keep going here over any chain place no matter what specials they offer on the low end frames. One thing that really impressed me is that I was having an issue with one of my eyes. When I described my symptoms he made room for me the very next day (a Friday evening). He also detected a serious issue, contacted a retinal specialist in my area, and had an appointment set up for me first thing Monday morning. Probably saved my eyesight. Sorry there is no humor in this review. Eyesight is serious business. Yes, Dr. Hoek may be a little geeky - you should have seen him when his hair was permed :). I have also seen him in social situations, he is actually very well spoken and people genuinely like him. But most importantly, he knows his stuff. My brother, boyfriend and I all had appointments with Dr Hoek; everyone in the office is very professional and very nice. Dr Hoek takes his time with the eye exam, listens to any questions or concerns you have and makes sure you are happy with the end results. They have a good amount of lenses to choose from, if you are in need of them and pretty good choices of brands too! This is by far the best eye doctor all of us have ever been to, and I definitely recommend anyone in need of an eye exam to come to this office! read more

I've been a Patient of Dr. Hoek for some time now and have great confidence in him. I had a serious cornea infection and would have lost the use of my eye with in twenty-four to forty-eight hours had it not been for Dr. Hoeks quick action! Scheduled in an appmnt for my mother almost a month ago. Received a call 2wks ago to confirm & remind us. I Cleared out my schedule for that day & planned my errands around it. Received a call the morning of (about 30min before the appmnt) from Linnette only to tell me out of the blue that this appmnt will not be billed to her insurance. Really you call the "Morning Of" to tell me this? I asked why wasn't I told this sooner & no answer. They are slackers & obviously lazy to get their simple jobs done accurately. Just wasted 4WKS of our time when we could have gone elsewhere & a complete waste of my work day. Be consistent with calling them & make sure you literally record them because they fail to deliver correct information. So frustrated with this Drs. Office. Don't waste your time here unless you want to deal with issues. read more

Dr. Hoek is a great eye doctor! My family and I have been going to him for several years now. His office staff is extremely friendly, wait time is very minimal...I have never had to wait more than 5 minutes for my appointment. His office had a great variety of frames, none of which are outrageously priced. I would highly recommend him!! read more

Dr. Hoek has been my eye-guy since he came to Ripon. He is trusted, thorough, sensible, reasonable. Runs a good business. Has good help. I had a sharp pain in my right eye. He figured out the cause and prescribed drops that did the trick. It had to do with an allergy I had developed to the cleaning fluid I had been using. Now that I have moved 2500 miles east, i find Dr. Hoek can not be replaced. Substituted for, yes. but not replaced. Thank you, Allen Conn read more

First the important things: Dr. Hoek's service is quick, thorough, professional and absolutely high quality. Glasses are easy, but there was a good selection and the staff are great about getting the right fit (and providing adjustments later down the road). When I switched to contacts, Dr. Hoek and his staff went to great lengths to make sure I was comfortable putting them in and taking them out, and stuck with me for several weeks to find the best lens and lens solution to make sure I had the most comfortable experience with contacts possible. Dr. Hoek also diagnosed my husband's glaucoma and handled the situation professionally, compassionately and competently. He is absolutely the most confidence inspiring optometrist we've ever been to. As a side note, he is also sincere, pleasant and compassionate. When I mentioned that I work with people with disabilities and that finding housing is hard, he went out of his way to get me the phone number of a nonprofit he knew of that provides temporary housing.
