We hired Royalty Roofing to inspect our 6-unit property in Akron, OH. Following their inspection,…read morethey recommended replacing the entire roofing system, including both the top flat roof and the shingle sides. We received an estimate totaling $46,000--$16,000 for the shingle sides and $30,000 for the top flat roof--and agreed to proceed based on their professional recommendation. As out-of-state owners residing in California, we were unable to personally verify the work during or after completion. We signed their contract, which had boxes checked for both the shingles and the flat roof. Next to the flat roof box, the word "repair" was typed. We interpreted this to mean that the entire top flat roof would be comprehensively repaired, especially given the substantial cost associated with that portion of the estimate. Royalty Roofing completed the work on May 19th, 2025. However, a few months later, when we listed the property for sale, the buyers commissioned a professional roof inspection. The inspection revealed that only the perimeter of the top flat roof--approximately 4 inches--had been repaired. Moreover, the report identified several areas on the flat roof that still required attention, which Royalty Roofing failed to address. Importantly, nowhere in the estimate or the contract does it state that Royalty Roofing was only repairing a 4-inch perimeter of the top flat roof. In fact, I have email communication from the project manager clearly stating that the entire flat roof needed to be replaced. Based on that communication and the $30,000 estimate for the flat roof portion, I reasonably believed that a full replacement was being performed. We feel misled by Royalty Roofing's recommendation, contract language, and communication. The scope of work completed does not align with what was proposed, nor does it justify the $30,000 charged for the flat roof. This has caused significant disruption to our property sale and financial loss.

When I started the search for a new roof royalty was my first call. Devin came to my house on a…read morecold day and looked at everything and gave me a great power point showing me the costs of different levels of service. I even had them quote me new gutters. I was floored at how professional and transparent Devin was. Offering his personal help with future potential warranty work. laid everything on the table and did well in educating me. That is where all of the good ended. Financing was a nightmare. If you use there financing be ready to pay triple of what the cost is in interest. They sub contract all there work. If you are thinking about using the Amish instead of royalty then do that because that is who showed up to do my roof. Cut out the middle man. The Amish knocked down some of my gutters while they were doing my roof. I called Devin (who had to save the day for Royalty) he came out at 5 at night to repair the work. With the gutters. I live next to High transmission lines. so, my house receives static electricity. Devin noticed and was supposed to tell the production crew that were doing my gutters but that was never relayed to the sub contractors who did my gutters. Then Royalty tried to force me to get an electrician to check my house before the gutters were finished because of the transmission lines. Even though there company was already aware. The sub contractor still completed the work. So, they get the praise of finishing the gutters not Royalty. At the end of the day Devin is the only reason why Royalty gets 2 stars and not 1. Shop around, maybe pick a company that is a little more expensive. Get a better customer service experience.

Joe came out, took a look what was going on, and gave me an estimate that was identical in scope but half the price of another estimate we received so we opted to go with Eames and Sons. Joe was fantastic to work with and kept me up-to-date on scheduling of the entire process, from dropping off a trailer for the old roofing materials, dropping off the new materials, the actual day of work, etc. The Eames and Sons crew came out, did the work in a single day, and then Joe came out the next day for an inspection. Joe noticed some of the work wasn't up to the Eames and Sons standards, so he had someone from the crew come back out and redo it and then came back out the same day to check on the work again. I also noticed that some of the mortar between bricks near some of the work seemed to now be missing and he came back out on his own time to fill in the gap. Eames and Sons, and specifically Joe, definitely went out of their way to make sure our roof was perfect and that I no longer needed to worry about the leak we found. This was a fantastic experience, and I would definitely recommend others use Eames and Sons for their roofing needs. EDIT: I noticed some damage to a window screen after the dump trailer was moved away. Joe fixed the screen himself and sent someone else out to take care of some of the metal around the window as well. Eames and Sons has gone above and beyond what I expected and they have set a very high bar for any work that gets done around our house in the future.
