This is also where Issac Perry is buried, the man who designed many local churches, the old inebriate asylum, and the new york state capitol building in albany. He also designed the gates for Spring Forest and his body was the first one to enter through them after he died. there's the mass grave for the victims of the Clothing Factory fire of 1913, along with other graves for civil war veterans and firefighters. take a walk around here sometime, it's a beautiful cemetery and if you bring your smart phone and google some of the names on the more interesting graves you can really learn a lot about our area.

It's very beautiful, with the air of a nature preserve…read more Lansing Funeral Home helped us figure out what sort of plot to get and helped us get it paid for using an online invoice, and the staff at Greensprings helped us look at options for a tree to plant at the gravesite and other specifics. The Greensprings folks also met us at their parking area, and provided transportation to and from the gravesite for those of us who needed mobility support. All of the people we've interacted with have given us the impression that they care deeply about our planet and are being careful to preserve the natural ecosystem with plantings as well as with their rules about burial shrouds and coffin materials and so on. When we returned home from the burial, I had the impression we'd been on a hike in the hills - a very different vibe from the usual somewhat depressing and formal funerals I'd seen in movies, and a feeling more like a beginning than an ending. The whole experience was perfect for our family and has left me feeling confident that Mom is safe in the arms of the earth, exactly where she wanted to be, surrounded by wildlife and flowers and trees.
