Yesterday I reached out to several garage door services and had a promo call back from GDI. I canceled another contractor because GDI offered to come out next day being Saturday. Oscar was my tech and he arrived early. He was able to diagnose and repair all broken parts and clean up in less than 30 minutes. I highly recommend you ask for Oscar when you call in. He's a Super Pro!

Next day, they again called me to update me with their service man's expected ETA. Mat arrived on time. He was thorough in checking the garage door and recommended a full replacement of the motor and spring. He went to their nearby warehouse to secure the replacements and was back at my home within 30 minutes. He worked on the garage diligently, and finished after about 2 hours. I appreciated that he gave me a thorough run-down on operating the garage door opener, and how to manually operate it in case of power outage. The product is well made, has a warranty and service repair guarantee. Mat was very efficient and courteous too. A young man doing a good job. I will gladly recommend them to others! Cost for the garage door motor was slightly high because it is a more reliable product. I was surprised about the service, efficiency and value for money.

This review is not about the quality of the work, because no work was ever performed. It is solely…read moreabout the quoting process and how we were treated as potential customers. My husband specifically called ahead because we understand many companies charge diagnostic or service fees. We have absolutely no problem paying for those fees, we simply like to know the cost upfront so we can make an informed decision before scheduling. During the call, he clearly asked what it would cost for someone to come out. The representative responded that they do not charge a service fee, followed by a statement about "upon work completion," and immediately moved on to scheduling the appointment. At no point was he clearly told there would be a $70 charge if we decided not to move forward. The next day, Dylan came to our home while I was alone with our three children. Within minutes he inspected the issue and provided four quotes. I thanked him and told him I wanted to discuss the options with my husband before deciding. That's when he informed me I owed $70. I was genuinely confused because that was not what my husband had been told. Dylan rolled his eyes, played part of the recorded phone call, stopped it immediately after the representative said they don't charge a service fee, and said, "See?" I honestly didn't know what I was supposed to see. My husband had asked a direct question and never received a direct answer. If someone had simply said, "There is a $70 diagnostic fee that is waived if you move forward with the repair," we would have appreciated the transparency and decided whether we wanted to schedule. Instead, the way it was communicated felt deceptive. When I questioned it, Dylan became frustrated, told me he had driven 45 minutes and asked why he would come out for free. I remained calm and explained that my issue wasn't paying for someone's time it was that the fee had never been clearly disclosed. I even asked him, on a human level, if he could understand how that phone call could be misleading, and he seemed to acknowledge my point. What ultimately prompted this review happened after he left. Before I even had a chance to finish telling my husband what had happened, Dylan called him and said, "I just left your home and your wife got nasty with me and refused to pay." Obviously my husband was extremely taken aback by this and shocked anyone would conduct a business in this manner. That statement was completely false and incredibly unprofessional. I never became nasty. I remained respectful throughout the entire interaction. Even thanking him for his time upon leaving and apologizing for any of the confusion. For a technician to leave my home and immediately call my husband to complain about me personally and label me as "nasty" was shocking. If there was a misunderstanding, it should have been handled professionally not by making personal accusations to my spouse. This entire situation could have been avoided with clear communication during the scheduling call. Instead, I left feeling misled by the quoting process and deeply disappointed by the way I was treated and offended. I rarely leave negative reviews, but I hope the owner sees this because transparency and professionalism matter just as much as the quality of the work. ***I edited this review as the company texted my husband following my review with the concern of the word muffled. I removed muffled but my statements but absolutely stand and I have zero to hide from our experience as this is just a precaution to others so you don't fall into the same trap". When you ask a company what is the cost and they start with we don't charge a service fee and end it with the technician will come out and give you a quote before any work is completed, the three word disclaimer in the middle seems deceptive when they could just say it's 70$ but goes towards your work if you choose to use us. *** Regardless that's our experience.
