I had Leo come out to diagnose a leaking water heater. He mentioned that there were two possibilities. Without going into both in detail, after ruling out and confirming one possibility as not the issue, the other possibility turned out to be spot on. Unfortunately, this possibility forced the need to replace the unit. I do think the overall cost to replace the unit was pretty pricey, but the manager at Allen was kind enough to provide me with a 15% discount, which I hugely appreciated!! Leo's technical knowledge, professionalism and competence to diagnose and replace the water heater was second to none. We were customers for 7 years dating back to when they were locally owned and operated. They used to be a company I knew I could call if something went wrong in our home. Once ownership changed, we noticed some differences and felt a little weird but still held on. What a mistake. They quoted us HVAC units all the way up to $25K at the time. We live in a 3000 sq ft home. They replaced only our furnace in 2022 for almost $9K. We followed warranty requirements by scheduling annual maintenance and inspections and changed the filter regularly. Allen constantly rescheduled our appointments because there were other more important callouts. One visit, they didn't replace the filter because the technician didn't have one in their vehicle. This should have been included but they did not offer to bring one later. At one point, a technician suggested we get a dehumidifier for our basement. With Colorado's dry climate, that's unnecessary. In Nov 2025, we had a technician come out to do our annual maintenance on our newer furnace. Somehow Jan 2024 and then, the heat exchanger had a large amount of rust built up. If you aren't aware, over time the rust causes cracks and in a nutshell will lead to carbon monoxide leaking into the home. No investigation was carried out into why there is rust on such a new unit under average use circumstances. No warranty claim was talked about. However, we were offered everything under the sun for $3310.00 that did nothing to resolve such a dangerous situation. I said I needed to talk to my husband because this seemed excessive to hear considering this is a new unit. It was close to the holidays and time got away from me. Fast forward to July 2026, our A/C seems to be acting weird and not blowing cold air when it was 103 outside. I tried scheduling an appointment with Allen by calling on Mon around 4pm. They said someone would call me back. No call. I went on their website and was able to book online. I scheduled for Tues between 12-6. I received a call Tues morning that the timeslot wasn't actually available for that day. Not sure why online scheduling is even an option. They said someone could come on Wed between 12-4 so we booked that. My husband was home in our basement all afternoon with our child trying to stay busy and keep cool while waiting for a technician. The thermostat in the house read an internal temp of 90. We did not receive an update from the company and had to call to find out where the technician was. They had to reschedule us again because there were so many call outs yet again. I cancelled our appointment and called a locally owned and operated company who could get out the next day. The other company's technician found many items that were not properly serviced during our inspection. I showed them the photos and estimate from our November furnace inspection. They were shocked and explained the seriousness of the issue. After they left, my husband and I both tried contacting Allen many times regarding this. After a week and a half of us calling and submitting contact us requests online, we finally received a call back. We were told they could send someone else out but according to their notes, I said I would talk to my husband and never called them back. I was shamed by a member of the management team because I needed to consult with my husband about what felt like a bogus recommendation to just solicit money. If you read the estimate, nothing offered has anything to do with the rust on the heat exchanger. Allen did offer to send out their "most experienced" technician to take a look, and I could schedule directly with Danielle because they are aware of issues with scheduling and dispatch. I made it clear that Allen Service is not welcome in my home due to negligence of my family's safety. I hope Allen Service doesn't put anyone else at risk of major safety concerns just to exploit their customers. It's hard enough when things need to be replaced in your home. Being taken advantage of like this has caused undue excessive stress and financial hardship. read more

My air conditioner wasn't working, and Allen Service sent a tech to diagnose and fix the problem. The tech suggested installing a condensate pump. I agreed and scheduled an appointment for the following week. A few hours later, the air conditioner stops working. I call Allen the next morning, and they send a tech from one of their affiliate companies to fix the issue. The tech failed to fix the problem, so I called Allen again the following business day. The first representative assured me that someone from dispatch would call me the same day to schedule a more timely appointment. That didn't happen, but I did receive a call from a second representative, who tells me she will call dispatch to see if there's any open availability. She informs me that dispatch will follow up shortly. After a few hours, and having not heard back from Allen, I call yet again and speak to a third representative, who informs me that my original appointment has been pushed back six days. I would have to wait ten days for a tech to come back to fix an issue that they failed to fix the first time, and that I had already paid for. If you're having trouble keeping up with how many visits Allen has made (2), and how many phone calls I've made (4), I don't blame you. My suggestion would be to use another company for your HVAC needs, because Allen has terrible customer service. read more

We had a furnace and air conditioner put in January of 2025. There have been several calls about problems, and the last one was about the air conditioner. The man who came to solve the problems was very knowledgeable and competent. He determined that the air flow was bad. We talked about it and he pretty much solved the problem, but my complaint is that we should not have this many problems . Obviously the house was not examined close enough to determine the needs of this particular home. That should have been done before just putting in a furnace and air conditioner arbitrarily! Granted, we have not had to pay extra for the service calls, but this should not happen to begin with!! I am not happy with Allen Service right now. read more

I had a broken valve on my whole house water filter and also needed a bypass loop incorporated into the plumbing as the previous owner neglected to add that. Tyler was professional and got the job done. There was the rather typical upsale attempt typical of Allen Service which I declined without prejudice. The new plumbing for this filter system is fairly compact and had to be due to a bit of limited space in that particular utility closet. Tyler did a fine job. Allen Service is probably not the most economical company to deal with, but they usually give several options to choose from and the work is always top flight. read more

After having a different tech come in to fix a defrost issue on our electric heat pump and things just seemed to get worse, Sasha came on an after hours emergency call when the heat unit inside would not shut off no matter what we did (including Sasha). He will need to go through the whole system to trace back the problem. Got late so he's going to be back today. He was very knowledgeable and explained things carefully and completely.
