cancelled on me three times. this is a follow up to an earlier review I left where I'd already been rescheduled twice. Client relations reached out to me and gave me a voucher to cover the cost of maintenance. nice perk. however, upon scheduling my tankless water heater to be descaled a third time, the earliest appointment was another 8 days out, making it already a three week endeavor, and putting in for PTO twice to be available for the appointment. The other fun part is that there is one number on their site for the company, but apparently the early scheduler was giving me techs for the Foco area, as the individual scheduling me for my latest attempt for service mentioned, "huh, you're in the denver area,"....no kidding. you ask my address/area code. not sure how that wasn't automatically changing how you book my appointment. That brings us to today, when I get a call AFTER THE TIME WINDOW MY TECH WAS SUPPOSED TO CALL FOR WHEN THEY WOULD BE ONSITE. not before, which is consistent with their brand of customer service. the scheduler mentioned that she has to push my appointment out to the week of march 9th, which will make this a 1 month endeavor to get a simple project done. they also mentioned that three of their techs called out with the flu......I would like to say I'm completely understanding of illnesses.....but amidst the current situation and how it was handled, that's incompetence. Especially when you take the time to mention that you only have 2 techs in the area that are trained to do the service I requested. which kind of tells me that either your schedulers need a bit more training on how to handle these kinds of issues, or more likely, you're making up a story. If you want to wait around, call Allen services. if you want to get your job completed, call someone else. When you pay a company to a monthly fee and they are supposed to check your heat/AC units periodically, why should I have to CALL THEM to ask for someone to come out? NO ONE ever called me, or sent me a notice, or got in touch with me to check on my AC unit at the beginning of the summer. Unfortunately, we had a death in the family, so by the time I finally called in ... they could come in September! That is unconscionable! I think that's the time of the year to come check my HEATING unit, not my AC unit! Our AC unit coolant line broke. Of course the day that it was hitting 90+ degrees here in foco. First time this year. Great timing My husband called Allen Service and someone came out the same day to come and check things out. They went over all of our options - from fixing our unit which was very old, replacing just one part - the cooling unit or our options if we are going to replace everything from a bronze, silver and gold standard. The guy who came out was not pushy about any of the options and stepped out to his car while my husband and I discusse what option we wanted to do. He came back in after we had decided. And he got us scheduled for the next day. You could pay up front or you could use one of their finance plans if you qualify. They thankfully had next day appointments. 2 techs came out and worked all day and got a new unit in for us. We were happy with our service and would use them again in the future if need be. I am pretty sure there was a warranty on the unit we bought. There was a discount for military veterans which my husband is. Not sure if that is just if you are purchasing a unit or if its on any service but worth asking. read more

Had a sewer line cleared about 4 years ago. It turned into a big deal ended up being 600 dollars. I was a little suspicious at the time but did not know. It lasted less than a year. I then called Royal T they cleaned it out for 90 dollars no drama no claims of needed up selling it lasted 2 years. Clearly the line has issues. I am a Allen Member and have no complaints about the times I have had heating and air issues. They also have a good free twice yearly heating and air inspection included in the Member package. HOWEVER, recently they expanded their plumbing services to include at least one company in the Denver area. I don't know if it was a local Allen plumber or one from the other company that responded to my call about a leaking water meter. The plumber was courteous and did a good job, The job consisted of unscrewing two 3/8 inch water lines that connected to the meter (which is quite small), inserting a short copper pipe into the lines, to create a water line bypass, and turn the water valve on. The whole thing required just a plumber's wrench and took about 45 minutes. I was charged $1,275, less $70 for being a Member. The price included $250 because it involved going about 6 feet into the crawl space under my mobile home. No parts had to be purchased. Allen has "by the book" pricing. My suggestion now for plumbing is to get a second quote before deciding. read more

My Experience with Allen Service - Never Again I will not be using Allen for any future services. I highly recommend doing thorough research and getting quotes before working with them, as they will take advantage of you with inflated prices. They are more interested in how much they can make off you than actually helping you. Allen reached out to me about a simple, routine water heater drain as part of the service contract I have with them. While I expected to pay for the service, I appreciated their outreach to check in with a member. However, things quickly took a turn for the worse. They sent Logan Edwards, who was inexperienced and failed to properly drain my water heater. He didn't follow standard procedures, and when he couldn't reignite the pilot light, he blamed it on the age of my water heater, claiming it was common. So, they sent out a senior plumber, Jaden Wright, who immediately told me my only option was to replace the entire water heater for $4600. I was shocked. Then, Jaden claimed he was offering me a "deal" at $4000. What upset me most was when Jaden admitted that Logan had not followed the proper process, which made me think, "This is your fault for sending someone out who doesn't know what they're doing." I made it clear that my water heater had been working perfectly fine before they arrived, and now, suddenly, it was completely nonfunctional. With temperatures dropping to 20 degrees, I was left in a tough situation, needing hot water. Feeling pressured and stuck, I reluctantly agreed to pay the outrageous price. Jaden even claimed the water heater itself was a $1500 unit and that Allen only sells the best. But after doing some research and getting a couple more quotes, I found the same water heater was available at Lowe's for no more than $700. The other companies I contacted (American Plumbing & Sewer and Noble Plumbing) would have done the same work for $2200 and $2300, respectively. The next morning, I called Alec Nelson, the manager, to explain the situation. I asked for a $1500 refund, and we eventually settled at $1200. While I felt a bit better, I was still upset about the overpayment for something I didn't even need. The pressure they put me under was created by Allen's own lack of training--either that, or it's part of their business strategy: send out a novice plumber to mess up your equipment, then have a senior tech come in, force you into a no-win situation, and upcharge you twice the market price. After reflecting on the entire ordeal, I called Alec back to express my disappointment with how Allen takes advantage of its customers. I ultimately exercised my "3-day right of rescission," and Alec immediately agreed to let me keep the water heater they had installed and provide a full refund--though I still had to deal with all the stress and time lost. While Allen did eventually make things right, it doesn't erase the terrible experience I had. I would have been happy to pay for proper, trustworthy service, but instead, I was met with a greedy company that only cares about making a profit. I would never recommend Allen to anyone. My advice is to find a local shop that provides upfront quotes over the phone and doesn't try to pull a fast one like Allen. They may have resolved the issue in the end, but it doesn't change how poorly I was treated throughout the process. Shoutout to American Plumbing and Sewer--Lanney and Amy were great and helped me navigate this difficult situation. Absolutely HORRIBLE!! A couple years ago we spent well over $40k to have Allen Service fix our sewer line on a main house and two ADU. It was a very extensive process, including the City of Loveland. After the long, stressful, expensive process, we were told that everything would be great and everything was working perfectly in all units. We were given a warranty. A few weeks ago, one of the units was having sewer issues so we called them back. The tech came and agreed that it wasn't done correctly but Allen's Service was under new ownership so there was nothing they could do but give us a little discount to fix it. The tech, Travis, said they would dig it back up and try to figure it out for $20k. They also told us they could jet it for $1000 or use the auger for $2500. The warranty meant nothing. On their website they try to build customers' trust by saying they've been in business for 60 years, however; it's clear they change owners often and with each ownership transfer they become a "new company" that feels no need to uphold warranties. Under no circumstance would I recommend Allen's Service. read more

To Whom It May Concern: Do not use Allen Plumbing and Heating, it is a terrible company in Fort Collins and they are not trustworthy. They are disrespectful and rude, pushy, and did not follow through, and they use unethical financing, scare tactics, and bait and switch tactics. Here is what I experienced with them: 1. Last year we had issues with a clog downstairs in our in our old town home, and could not do laundry. Allen representatives were pushy and said we needed a new "clean out" on the exterior of the house. However, we had a perfectly usable "clean out" with easy access to the basement. They used scare tactics and went over all the worst-case scenario options stating that we had excrement floating under the house and we needed to take action immediately. They then looked to see where the city's pipes entered and exited from the house and the Master Plumber said he absolutely knew it was in the backyard. The city was doing work on our streets and they were able to let the master plumber know that he was incorrect. However, this master plumber continued to show extreme arrogance and pushed us more and said that it was necessary once the "clean out" was created outside to have a flush out as well as a new pipe input (requiring they dig a trench) on the side of the house to get rid of the waste underneath the house. They said that if we didn't get a new pipe on the side of the house, the pipes would continue to plug up since we had "bellies and dips" that needed to be fixed. They pushed financing and we agreed to find out what we qualified for. Once they knew how much we qualified for, they said that was the same amount it would cost to do all of this work. This was an incredible amount of money beyond $28,000. Other companies were not this expensive for all of this work. All of Allen's options were very expensive and they bragged about their Master Plumber overseeing everything. In addition, they then showed us that once they were able to open the "clean out" and flush out the pipe, we would need to start the work on the side yard. We only agreed to an exterior "clean out", and flushing the current pipe out. 2. They dug the ground and created a "clean out" and they said they would flush the pipes. We had to contact them several times so that they would come and follow through with flushing out our pipe and use a camera to check our pipes. In the meantime, we were not able to do laundry for weeks. They contacted an excavator to open up our pipes and check for boring and they hired a company out of Greeley. They pulled a City of Fort Collins permit. This permit was opened but it was never closed and it was Allen's responsibility to have the City of Fort Collins investigate and request the permit be closed. In fact, this permit is still open as of today, October 9, 2023. 3. All in all, after many calls, they flushed out the pipes and used a video camera to check the pipes. I requested a copy of the video but they did not provide it to me, even after being billed for several thousands of dollars. Now the City of Fort Collins is requesting that Allen finalize their work with them and we are at risk of having to pay several more thousands of dollars. 4. We are more than dissatisfied with Allen and we will be taking them to small claims court. I will share this letter with the Better Business Bureau, and all social media outlets such as Facebook, Yelp, Google, etc. for overcharging us for the work they did, for taking several days and weeks to address our clog, for not allowing us to have a copy of the video that they took, for baiting and switching us with unethical finance tactics, and for not responsibly closing the permit with the City of Fort Collins. To sum up, we spent more than approximately three weeks unable to do laundry after already signing the financing paperwork, and their work was not completed. I regret ever working with Allen and I highly recommend that anyone needing plumbing, stay as far away from Allen Plumbing and Heating because they are the worst company in Fort Collins. Allen service wanted to charge $620 to replace our garbage disposal - with a unit we had already purchased. The technician knew the price when he walked in the door, and when he told us what it was, we said no way! He charged us $89 fir the service call off telling us the price. I called Allen service and they said they do not give prices over the phone. While I understand that, the technician knew the price before he walked in the door, so why couldn't we have been told it as well, even if it was said as an estimate. Original complaint : Don't waste your time on" preferred customer" its a waste, and they won't prefer you at all. Matter of fact, they will disrespect you at every turn. Unbelievable lack of service and response. I've called numerous times asking to speak to a supervisor to get warranty information for my home that has had 3 backups in a year. In June of 2022, we contacted Allen service as our pipes had clogged and caused a backup in the basement of our home, causing major damage to my 10 year old daughters room. They told us it was caused by roots in the pipes outside our home that relining our outside pipe would solve the issue. 22 thousand dollars out of pocket later. As the project ends, they promise I will receive a final video , receipt, and warranty information . This never happens. Fast forward 8 months, and a backup happened again, flooding my 10 year old daughters room with urine and feces , again. We call Allen service, and with our preferred customer, they can come over 24 plus hours later and charge us almost 600 dollars to unclog the pipe. At this time, they promised that the excavation supervisor would call to come out and do a video to discuss options. This never happened. 3 months later, and it happens again! The same issue they promised to fix for 22 thousand dollars in June of 2022! This time, they don't charge us based on the warranty from the last visit. They unclog the pipe, and it is outside the house . They promise that the excavation supervisor would call and come out to do a video consult again, but of course, they never call . A week later, I call them asking to cancel my preferred customer and they say , " we will make note on the file about canceling preferred customer " and have a manager call, again this Never happens. They didn't cancel as requested or have a supervisor call , again. I feel like they are forcing me to call the B.B.B. to get a resolution. Update : I contacted the BBB and here is Allen Services response: Thank you for taking the time to speak with us and bring this to our attention. As a company, we are committed to providing excellent customer service and high-quality workmanship. Unfortunately, we fell short of this in your case and we sincerely apologize for our poor communication and workmanship. Please know that we're committed to making things right for you. After our conversation, we sent our supervisor to inspect the line and discovered that the liner was missing from the home to the cleanout.To quickly resolve the issue, we sent a professional to your home to jet the lines and remove any roots causing the backup. We are currently working on a solution to complete the lining from the house to the cleanout. Rest assured, that we're taking all necessary measures to prevent a recurrence. Our goal now is to regain your trust: but we understand we have to earn it. We have not lived up to the standards we set for ourselves and we are truly sorry. I requested an appointment and drove an hour to meet the technician. Waited during the 4-hour window they gave me. Called twice to confirm they would come and then at end of day, I called to see if they were coming and they said, "oh no, sorry technician got stuck on a job and we can't re-schedule until day after tomorrow". If I wouldn't have called, pretty sure they wouldn't have bothered to call me. I had a pipe break for my kitchen faucet and while repairing that the technician broke another pipe further into the wall. He blames it on me and says it just went from a $400 repair to $1000 - $2000 repair. I could hear it break when he was pushing on the connection. Initially paid $1,500 for unnecessary work to fix a breaker issue that ultimately, wasn't fixed. I was quoted a further $2,000 to fix the initial breaker issue with the potential of going up to $5,000 for "worst case scenario". After doing the math, Allen Service charges around $650+ an hour for labor. End of story, I fixed the problem myself after spending $85 in parts and a little under 2 hours of my time. I thought the techs were really nice people though and I don't blame the original tech, we're all human, mistakes happen and even though the work they did wasn't needed, it was still well done. But, I feel that the additional work should have been quoted at no cost since the original work didn't fix the issue and that decision rests with the folks who run this company. After having good service with Allen before I figured I would reach out for a quote. I originally scheduled an appointment online to have Allen come give me a quote on a whole house humidifier. They called said the time and day I got online won't actually work so they needed to rescheduled. So they did for a week later. The day of the new appointment I took off work so I could be around. In the afternoon I got a call from a Grand junction number, they left a message, saying they are calling for me, then the message cut off. I didn't call back because I figured it was some sort of telemarketer. Then alittle while later my wife got a call saying since we were a no call no show and we needed to reschedule. So they rescheduled for the next day. Again I was at home all day. Finally later in the afternoon my wife called to check on the status, the dispatcher said the technician tried calling both numbers with out success. But neither my wife or myself ever got a call, she asked the dispatcher to have a manager call her, none did. I was so confused and they sent a well dressed man to sell me on a new furnace. it was very Formal and he convinced me to sign with the company for a new furnace. I thought I passed when he said it would be $15,000. for a new one. so I signed and paid $5,000. cash to get a new one. Now I'm in Hawk for the remainder of the total. they must have seen me as a dummy and a female who fell for it. then I mentioned my kitchen faucet was no longer working and again sent a young worker to install a new one which ended up costing a thousand. I thought what else can go wrong? well my sewer line in the basement overflowed and I idiot called them. they said they had to go through the toilet downstairs and check the line. I stupidly said ok from the urgency and they charged me $691. and because 5:00 came around he said he had to return the next day to finish the job. I have read the bad reviews here and am baffled. (They have great Google reviews). Last year I had 2 hot water heaters replaced by Shiloh who was awesome, thorough, knowledgable, and explained everything to me. Around that same time I had a clog and garbage disposal issue...their was nothing wrong with the disposal, it was all the clog, fixed easily, honestly and affordably. Today, Mark Hatfield came out to do full inspection of all my heating units (I have 3), as part of the white glove service I am signed up for. He invited me to watch the inspection and learn if I wanted. I did, and was so impressed with his knowledge, I learned a lot, he patiently answered all my questions, took time to give recommendations based on findings, but wasn't pushy or trying to upswell anything. So, I was called a liar by the Allen Services plumber in charge of my project. All of a sudden, what I was working with was a FORENSIC WOOD SPECIALIST, not a plumber. He could tell, wow, I was so impressed, from one glance, that the corner of my house was NOT clipped by their little digger. No way. No how. And the rainspout was all bent and mangled by THE WIND. Also, I had to get the ENTIRE project redone by another company. In fact, it's probably because of the work they were doing that the other line failed. Never mind. It's fixed now, but, folks, steer clear of this company. Although MANY of the people working there are good and honest, it just takes one bad apple to spoil the entire bin. read more

This is one of the worst, if not the absolute worst service companies in Fort Collins if not all of Northern Colorado. They charged me 700 dollars to repair a toilet. The so-called service technician had to take a smoke break while he was at my house and told me that the prices vary according to the service. He totally scammed me. They also installed a new water heater and charged me an exorbitant price for that as well. One of the guys who installed it gave me a bunch of dirty looks while he was here and wouldn't even speak to me. Then they let the old one sit in my driveway and leak rust everywhere and there's been a permanent stain there ever since going on something like 2 years now. I paid for that in installments too through a loan and the interest rate has been ridiculous. I've had multiple service people in the house since who are now independent and used to work for Allen Service who told me they target people based on their age and neighborhoods that they think they can scam money out of because they work on commission. One guy even told me he saw guys make bets before going into people's homes about how much money they could get out of people before leaving. They are horrible rotten no good scammers. Do not believe their liar reviews on Google. Google does not review those and they can manipulate them to be positive. The woman who answers these comments on Yelp is full if it also. She writes garbage replies, and never calls you back or does anything about any of the complaints you see here. On 08/13/2024 Allen services come to our condo in Fort Collins Colorado to do an electrical inspection. He did the inspection and did not find any major problems, just a fan in the bathroom was making a noise, and he thought it could be rubbing up against a wire and could cause an issue. I thought he was quoting me for what it could be if there was an issue. All he had to due was use my WSD40 an gave it a spin and the sound was back to normal. The cost was $220.00 to remove the cover look at the fan then use my product to correct the issue. I though the cost was a little high for this but he kept saying you are paying for our knowledge and professionalism. I asked where I could send my bill for using an ounce of my WD40 and he just played dumb and kept saying you are getting professionalism. I am sure the tech has no control over the cost as it is supposed to all be on there iPad. I just asked that I get a detailed itemized invoice to see what all the cost was for all I got was Service # CER.0.50.0000 Description Electrical Repair. this tells me nothing and is not detailed as to the cost per hour or what it cost to use WD40. I was only going to charge them $500.00 am ounce so they can fill what is like to be gouged. Do not use this company.
