The bright colors, 60's-70's vibes, and fun name caught all of our attention. We didn't hesitate before nodding our heads in agreement, we had to go in! From funky clothing and jewelry to home decor, art, and kitchenware, this place just screams hippie wonderland... Take me back to the 70's please! It was wonderful. Towards the back of the building is a mini record store and that's where they hooked me! My record collection is largely oldies thanks to my grandmother. Luckily, they had a good mix of music and I picked out a more recent album I knew I needed in my collection. The staff was friendly, the space was fun, I'll definitely be back!

I stumbled upon Unique Treasures after my most recent pit stop at the Clintonville Farmers Market…read more After walking by as I was heading to and from the car, I was intrigued by the dusty window and old signage. I just knew there had to be something special in there waiting for me! I opened the door and immediately noticed the large amount of inventory crammed into this little store. There was so much to choose from, I didn't even know where to start. No lie! I ended up starting towards the front of the room and eventually worked my way to the back. After browsing around for some time, I discovered everything from full tea sets to old photos, tons of jewelry, some awesome wall mirrors (with a touch of paint they'll be good as new!), records, and so much more! The fella that runs the placed is named Bob and he was so sweet. He has his nameplate on the desk next to the register, which made it really easy for me to know who to ask for when I was ready to check out. I assured him that I'll be back on Saturdays after the farmers market and he said he's almost always there (unless he's visiting Florida, haha). After about 15 minutes of looking around, I found a handful of cool jewelry pieces that I wanted. I ended up narrowing my option down to a really pretty blue pendant that simply needed a chain to be turned into a bohemian style necklace. For only a few dollars, I practically had a brand new piece of jewelry that could go with just about anything in my closet. Absolute score! I can truly say that I'm eager to make this a more regular stop on my weekend trips to the market. If I only looked around for fifteen minutes and found something good, just imagine what I could find with twenty, thirty, plus.

I'm going to have to agree with Ann S-a little disappointed. I love the idea but this "marketplace"…read moreneeded A LOT more vendors to justify the drive and the $5 admission price. First off, the facts. Every month starting in June the Aladdin Shrine Center off Stelzer (near Easton Mall) hosts a "GO-TO monthly market of local, vintage, antiques, upcycled" etc, etc vendors in their main stage area. June 22, July 13, Aug 23, Sept 13 and Oct 19 (thus far.) For me it was too flea market and not enough antique market. The handmade and upcycled items were nice, but there was too much of it. Food truckers were outside in the side parking lot, which was nice: Mojo Tago, Red Snapper Mobile, Mai Chau, and My Place or Yours. Seating for eating was available inside. There was also a bar. Yep, a bar-beer and liquor. They actually had $2 CBC IPA pints. Uh, yeah, keep them coming. Not because I love it so but needed some liquid courage to keep going. The advertised "live music" was a DJ on the stage "turning" hits from 60's, 70s and 80s...."Bartender, two more pints please!" Kidding aside, hopefully the upcoming shows will grow, especially the closer we get to the Holiday season. Check out their updated Facebook page for announcements and photos from previous shows.

Words cannot express how much I wanted to love this. A handful of vendors all in one spot so I can…read moreget my vintage on? Yes, please! But when I have to pay admission for something like this, I expect that at minimum the place that was rented out will be full. That was not the case. The first show I went to was maybe 70% full and while there were different vendors from primitive to upcycled to tables made from reclaimed wood (awesome!) to a guy selling bones and creepy items, it somehow felt like it was not worth the price of admission. Okay, so maybe the first show was new and it needed to find its groove so I'll give it another chance. Well, there were *fewer* vendors at the next show and they added tables for people to sit down and have drinks or eat to make it appear like more space was filled. I don't know that I can justify shelling out admission again if the place isn't at capacity. I might go to the last one since it'll be closer to the start of holiday shopping and hope more people have signed up by then before I make my final decision. I am glad to see the opportunity for something like this in town though but I hope it picks up a little steam especially when you have something like the Scott Antiques Market that rolls around and is free admission and 4-5x the size.

The place is very unorganized with little room to move in places. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but here they are creeping close to the line of demarcation between quint hodgepodge and random garbage dump. The antique shops in Clintonville are of three types. Where Boomerang offerings are post restoration in excellent condition, and the Antique Mall is "what you see is what you get," DML deals in raw nostalgia, pre-restored items of interest to hobbyist or someone skilled in fabrication. Think the houses of hoarders on History Channel's show Pickers. Among the items I seen were signs, bike frames, lots of wood framing and casings, bent up furniture, and a pound-per-square inch of dust. I wasn't interested in anything, i don't have the skill to whip a ancient item into shape. But I can see this being a treasure find for those that do. I must subtract a star for the shape of the building itself an antique. The crown molding of its ceiling was cracked and peeling. Their backdoor was lopsided on the frame and letting cold air in. As a lover of historical architecture this makes me sad and a little peeved. They need to maintain and preserve, or at least make it look like they care. Ugg.
