My husband and I have been patrons of Alexander's Jewelers for almost 10 years. Although chain jewelry stores have their place, I love that Alex and his staff are able to provide unique, almost - if not entirely - one of a kind pieces. His staff helped my husbande and I create our own ring by pulling elements together for the perfect outcome. Even with their uniquue pieces, they're prices are reasonable. Here's how you know Alexander's has good stuff: you have to ring a doorbell and be buzzed in by a security guard. Alexander's has a nice selection. They cater strongly to men, selling high-end, pre-owned watches. You really wouldn't know that most of the watches were pre-owned though. They're in very good shape. Watches are their specialty, but they also sell (new) jewelry for men and women. If you can't find something that suits your fancy, they will work with you to custom make a piece - for a price, of course. The owner, Alexander, is a Russian immigrant. I can't tell you how many times I've stopped in and gawked in awe at all the beautiful jewelry throughout the store. Shane, the manager, is a fellow Bobcat (Ohio University alum), and he has always welcomed me into the store even though I'd never made or even sniffed close to a purchase. Well, shockingly tonight was the big night that I stopped in and actually made a huge splurge....and man did it feel and look good!!!! A solid store with friendly staff and unique items. Breitling, Tag Heuer, Rolex and all the standard watches, plus less commonly seen brands like Oris, Baume and Mercier, and Zenith are all on display and many used (but great quality) items are also available. In addition to the watches, the store features a nice selection of Teno's titanium products, Cartier rings, and other high and medium range items. Best of all, they don't badger and pester you when browsing....clearly they have never been to Jared where that is the norm. read more

I took my ring for resizing in the Columbus, Ohio branch. When I took it in, it had a blue sapphire in it, and when I picked it up after it was resized, it had a London blue topaz in it. The quality was visibly lower, and it was nowhere near as sparkly; it even had some visible cloudiness where there used to just be sparkle. I was incredibly frustrated at the obvious theft, and I will no longer be using this business. read more

Fast, friendly, great value. Just stopped in for a new leather band for a Hamilton and a wonky bracelet on my Tag. They fixed the Tag bracelet in minutes, I got a great new band for the Hamilton, all for a great price, and the staff was very helpful. Also: they had a great selection of Panerai (as will as Omega, Breitling, etc) at what looked like great prices. So pleased with the service here & even got brownie points with the in-laws! :) My mother-in-law had an antique pendant that other jewelry shops didn't seem to want to try to fix. I had heard excellent things of Alexanders & thought we'd give one more jewelry shop a try to repair this old pendant. Lee was amazing! So friendly & confident it wouldn't be a problem to repair. It took about 3 weeks to get back, but hey-no one else would even try. When I returned to pick the pendant up, I brought a watch band in to have checked out. (I had also taken this to another jewelry/watch shop & was pressured into replacing the whole watch & not just the band.) Alex was able to help me replace the band & the glass face of the watch & not try to talk me into buying something I didn't really want or need. I have nothing but great things to say about Alexander's! Great customer service, product was amazing, and everything was done in a timely manner. I recently bought a large turquoise and silver ring off a boutique on the west coast and was upset when I found out the ring was actually exceedingly smaller than the description of what I had paid for. Originally I had bought the ring thinking it was a size 9 and would take the ring to be sized up to an 11. When I took the ring to Alexander's they informed me thy the ring was actually a size 6 3/4! I was told there would be an extra cost due to such a large difference in my size need.. Totally fine with me, I understood that perfectly because they would have to add more silver to the band, etc. Today I picked up my ring (as scheduled) and instead of charging me the extra cost in the sizing they only charged me the regular price! Alexander may provide better service to their Rolex shoppers, but they screwed me when I brought my Seiko in for a repair. My watch had stopped, and I took it in to see if they could fix it. The guy at the counter told me he could fix it for $50. He said they would replace the internal movement. He looked up the price of the repair and told me he'd made a mistake. The repair was supposed to cost $100, but since he'd already told me $50, he would honor that price. He said a new movement would last for another ten years. I don't think he did squat, because 3 months later, it was dead. Since he was "giving me a deal" on the repair, I never thought to ask for any paperwork or real receipt. I wouldn't trust this guy if I were you. read more

Alexander's is just OK to me. We were in the Short North and my fella happened to tell me that his watch battery was dead, so in we went. We were told that it would be 15 minutes, so we waited. After about 20 minutes, the woman told us to "come back before 8." We went back about 2 hours later and waited....and waited. I guess only the "watch guy" can give you your watch with a fresh battery. It was quality work, just a little silly with their processes. read more

The initial customer service my husband and I received while purchasing jewelry was great, however all the follow-up service since for maintenance has been consistently poor. I've taken my engagement/wedding ring in for service for 6 years now and I've had issues nearly every time. 1. Everything seems to take excessively long. Having my ring cleaned and the prongs checked most recently took roughly two weeks. 2. Dipping white gold in rhodium is a standard method of improving the appearance of white gold, but they didn't cover my yellow gold setting prior so when I received my ring back it looked like a completely different piece of jewelry, not that one that I love. They buffed off the rhodium plating but it was a very distressing situation until they explained what had happened. 3. My husband picked out a pair of earrings with yellow gold and received white gold instead. It was a time-sensitive gift and they offered a discount, so he took them instead of waiting for the correct pair. These are just a few examples. I've grown so weary of encountering issues every single time I interact with this business. I will be servicing my jewelry elsewhere. read more

About 15 years ago my dad gave me a Rolex a few years ago it stoped working. I took it to a Rolex dealer in Columbus After being told the cost to repair it I put it away and did not fix week. This past fathers day I took it out and it was working (my dad died six years ago) after a few weeks it stopped. I was told by a friend to take it to Alexanders. When I droped it off i was impressed with the store and the owner. A week latter I pick up the Rolex the cost was over 80% cheaper than the what the other Jeweler wanted. NICE VISIT WITH KNOWLEDGEABLE STAFF! I came in today to check out their selection of watches. I like a really nice watch that has a rectangular face and only four numbers on the dial. I don't purchase fashion watches (made by popular designers) because I wear watches for function first and foremost. I did have one beautiful watch that I tried and it was perfect. However, I just was not made by my favorite manufacturer, Longines. I have a Longines that is almost 30 years old and functions like it was purchased yesterday. I think that it is very strange that the battery has only been changed three times since purchase. When it comes to pricier pieces I think that it is common and natural to think about is tried and true. Even though the watch was beautiful and a perfect fit, I could only focus on the fact that it wasn't a Longines. Nevertheless, I really had a nice time in this store and appreciated the sales associate who was very knowledgeable about specific watches and their history. Although much of his conversation was with my husband, (because my head was down most of the time), I still caught the conversation. This is the difference when shopping with JEWELERS as opposed to jewelry stores. You will just have an elevated experience and gain a bit of knowledge in the process. I love this place. The people that work there spend a lot of time with you, and they remember you by name (even if you don't come in a lot!) I've done everything here: had appraisals done, bought things, had things ordered in, and had a repair done. Everything was top notch, done in a timely manner, and always with a smile. i could sit there and talk to Shane (on of the employees who is always there) for hours, he's so fun. I had a ring resized here and it took 2 re-dos to get it right. I don't mind that I didn't have my ring for a month after I got it... I'd rather have it fit right. My problem was that the third time I was in there the lady was rude and commented on them spending more money to resize than my fiancé spent on the ring AND the last and final resizing they never called me when it was done and the ring came back bent up with imperfections that weren't there before. read more

Alexander surmised that all it needed was a replacement battery, and was able to get it switched out within 30 minutes. While I browsed the other watches on display, he and his staff were courteous, helpful, and knowledgeable about their wares. I came in here a little over a year ago to have the battery changed on my 20 year old Tag Heuer watch. I later learned that they are not an authorized repair location or retailer of Tag Heuer, they also never claimed to be- that was my own oversight. Previously I've gone to a non-Tag authorized location for my battery changes and everything was fine. This time in addition to my battery, my clasp was popping open too easily as well, they fixed that very well but the band was a bit big afterwards (I don't understand how that happened, but they did a fine job, guess it's part of the tightening procedure?). They said they could replace the crystal face on the watch for about $50, I'm glad I didn't because I recently learned that all tag's have a sapphire face, not a crystal. But the real reason for my review of a visit I made slightly over a year ago is that my watch began to run slow a couple of months ago. Typically, my watch can easily go 2 years between a battery replacement, this replacement only lasted precisely one year. They were courteous and helpful and reasonably priced- but I don't think I will take my watch back there given how briefly the battery lasted, they also had to keep my watch for a couple of days whereas other places have been able to do it on the spot. So I gave them 2 stars, yelp literally describes "meh, I've experienced better" as the phrase for a two star place, which is how I feel. It's suitable, but I've experienced better. After searching all over Columbus for the perfect engagement ring, my fiance and I ended up at Alexanders. While most places were either super pushy(Jareds, just saying...) or trying to hide prices from me (like hello I'm marrying the guy, what's wrong with me knowing the price?), Alexanders was different. We worked with Gabrielle and informed her that we were in college and wanted something affordable. She showed us a beautiful Fana ring that ended up being the one. She also informed us that Fana did free custom designs, so we were able to draw up and design the perfect ring with a stone added to each side. Once we picked out our setting we were able to choose our center moissanite. Most places turned up their noses at us for even mentioning a moissanite over a diamond, but not this place. Not only were they willing to put one in our ring, but they also were able to get us the best brand of moissanite out there.
