How did I end up here?…read more Having dinner with some associates, I was eating as I normally do yet one person noticed my eating habits and asked me what was wrong. My response... Oh my tongue just feels a little funny so I'm taking a break. Immediately, everyone at the table was in shock and said I must be allergic because you shouldn't have to "take a break" from food. Well heck I've been "taking breaks" for years and I've always taken allergy pills over the counter but thought that was normal. At the behest of a concerned colleagues and family, I went ahead and made what I thought was an unneeded appointment here. What's so funny is three people who do not know each other whatsoever all recommended I go see Dr. Ruiz. That's not just a coincidence but a cosmic sign of intervention that was needed and this was where I need to be. I'll jump right to it ... the staff was ultra-courteous and professional. Dr. Ruiz was so nice and explained everything. I told him about my symptoms and things that were going on. He explained the how, what, when and why then we went on with the tests. When it was time for test kit for allergies wow I had things going off like fireworks! Great news, I am not allergic to any foods. The swelling I've been feeling in my tongue and the change in body temperature was only my body overreacting thinking it was one thing yet it wasn't. Dr. Ruiz said that was the only way I was able to take a break and go back and if I were truly allergic there would be no returning to that food and I probably would've passed out a long time ago. I'm of a certain age where I wasn't affected by the peanut allergy so I'm safe. Allergy testing is not just for kids. Don't be like me and suffer in silence, go see someone to make your daily interactions with the environment much more pleasant; and you won't have people at the dinner table staring at you with looks of wonder.

The main office is located in St. Louis but Dr. Daud routinely comes to Sullivan, MO to see…read morepatients there. In Sullivan he sees patients in the specialty clinic on the Missouri Baptist Hospital Campus. COVID Protocol: Masks are required whenever staff is present. I was referred to Dr. Daud at Suburban Chest and Sleep Specialists after a hospital stay at the end of last year. I access my medical information online and was pleasantly surprised that I could enter all the information that is required before a first visit through the online portal. Setting up my appointment was equally easy. I was asked to arrive 10 minutes before my appointment to fill out insurance forms, etc. I arrived early. The specialty clinic is shared by multiple doctors and the reception desk for Dr. Daud is down a hallway, away from the waiting room. I was given a medical questionnaire, several pages long. I explained that I had already filled out the information online and was told that "Doctor likes to have something in hand and likes to refer to the questionnaire when talking to you." 15 minutes later I was finished filling out the paperwork, two minutes after that I was in an exam room and had my vital signs taken by a Nurse, explained the medicines that I am currently taking and the reason for my visit. The doctor came in after a short wait, asked why I was there and then briefly examined me. He then asked me pretty much everything I had filled out online and in the questionnaire (which he did not have with him). He did explain next steps and asked me to make an appointment three months later. For a variety of reasons the second appointment didn't happen until today (six months later). I explained to the doctor that I was able to complete one of the tests he wanted me to take but not the second part of it since my Insurance company refused to pay for it. The doctor didn't like that but decided to outfit me with some medical equipment anyway, without having undergone the second part of the test. On this, the second visit, he did not examine me, only asked a few questions regarding the test and asked me to make another appointment three months out after I had used the medical equipment. While I'm overall pretty happy with the services provided I have some concerns. The doctor did not examine me in any way during the second visit, yet his notes (which I am able to view online) state that he did. Having to fill out the medical questionnaire twice and then having to reiterate the same information again is a waste of time. I also would have liked to hear more about alternative ways to alleviate my condition without having to do hours of research at medical libraries and the Internet. Overall it's a solid three stars and the fact that I don't have to drive an hour each way to see this specialist is an added bonus.
