The midwives and nurses are knowledgeable, compassionate, and very very good at what they do. When I was deciding where to have my baby, I chose the birthing center because of the low intervention model (I usually get real anxious when it comes to hospitals and medical procedures), support for a non-medicated birth, and beneficial practices like delayed cord clamping, not washing baby right away, and skin-to-skin. It seemed very homey and calming and I liked that the birthing center was in the hospital (as opposed to a stand alone center), so if an emergency happened, I could get immediate care. The center has four birthing suites: spring, summer, fall, and winter. You can pick which one you want; the layout and color themes are slightly different. However, every room has a shower, a tub you can labor in (though you can't do a water birth), a big bed where both you and your partner are encouraged to snuggle baby after the birth (I think it might be a queen), and various labor stuff (two different kinds of birthing balls, a rope thing hanging from the ceiling, etc.). During birth they have nitrous oxide available for pain relief. You typically get to go home the day of the birth if everything checks out or you have the option of staying in a maternity recovery room upstairs. I had a great experience with all my prenatal appointments and recently had my 6 week follow up. I never feel rushed; I feel heard and respected when I come with my long list of questions (it was my first pregnancy). You get to have appointments with each of the midwives throughout your pregnancy so that whenever you deliver, you'll already be familiar with whichever midwife is on call at the time. So I ended up having my baby on the regular labor and delivery floor because we were high risk and the birthing center can only do low risk births (baby came early at 33 weeks). However, the midwife on call, Maria, still came to attend the birth. Her presence, support, and coaching were invaluable during labor! I wouldn't say I felt calm per se, but I definitely felt less stressed and more confident knowing she was there. I was still able to deliver baby vaginally and without pain medication, which I attribute in large part to Maria's support and the natural birthing class I took through the center. If/when my spouse and I decide to have another baby, I would definitely choose the birthing center again (and hopefully be able to actually give birth there)! Oh and one last thing, one of their staff is a certified lactation consultant, so you can ask Amanda any and all breastfeeding questions you have. She runs The Lactation Circle (TLC) every Thursday morning where you can come with your baby and do a weighted feed (so you know how much your baby is eating), get help with baby's latch, and just hang out with other moms and babies. It's another amazing support and resource the birthing center offers!

For my money, I don't think anything compares to a professional massage…read more I had just gotten over a serious illness... bronchitis. I thought for sure, I was going to die. The week after, I committed to getting myself healthy. I needed a serious detox... including a juice cleanse and a full body massage. It was going to be my first massage, I knew it would be amazing, but I was still nervous. My massage therapist was really calming (kinda like my OB/GYN- no joke!!). She talked me through everything and informed me that if I was still sick, at all, it was a terrible idea to get a massage. Apparently, when you are rubbing your muscles, especially if you've never had a pro massage before, all sorts of toxins are being released. It totally makes sense, if you think about it. Toxins get absorbed into your blood and those crazy things are coursing through your entire body and getting settled in where they can. Heavy! I had, however, completed my regimen of antibiotics and had gone to work (waiting tables) so I felt comfortable enough that the sickness was out of my body and that the massage would enable me to flush out the yucky residues that all of those drugs (syzzurp) had left behind. I was right! So she set me up in the room and discussed my level of comfort. Can she touch me there? Do I need to wear a bra? etc etc. Now, I've nude-modeled for figure drawing classes before, there's no shame in my 200-lb game. So I let it all hang out. (Sorry for ya). She turned down the lights and put on some comforting muzak and commenced the rub down. It was amazing. Sadly, all I could think about was the toxins being released from my muscles....I mean, my brain didn't stop working at all! I felt like such an idiot because I couldn't simply clear my mind! Next time, I'm going to drink a Sleepy-Time tea or have some Calms Forte (homeopathic anti-anxiety supplement). I highly recommend you do too. The hour flew by so quickly. When the massage was over, I felt a little light-headed and just wanted to lie down. I followed her directions and drank a cart load of water and ate a super healthy lunch afterwards. Make sure you do both, as you need to flush out said toxins. That afternoon, I felt exhausted and had to take a two hour nap! The massage is seriously therapeutic BUT hard (and good) on your body!! The next day, my shoulders were a little tender to the touch but I felt soooo good. The one hour massage is a game-changer and definitely crucial to EVERYONE. I highly recommend going at least 4x a year. SO worth it.

The front desk worker is super sweet and Rachel has really taken the time to listen to my concerns and find a solution for them. She offered me medication to make my IUD insertion easier and less painful and I really appreciated that because I wasn't offered they at my old OB. The medical assistant was so sweet in making sure I was doing alright during the procedure itself and again, made me feel cared for. You don't have to wait months and months to get an appointment and you can schedule one through my chart which is something I was looking for when looking for a new provider. Overall great practice with a wonderful NP and medical assistants!

I was a patient at this clinic for about a year when they prescribed a treatment I hoped would be…read morepreventative. They were aware of my underlying conditions. I believe they made serious errors in both the method of treatment and the dosing. Errors of this nature would destabilize anyone, but with my underlying conditions the effects were devastating. When I reported severe symptoms with the original treatment method I received no guidance so I requested a change. I think they should have adjusted the original delivery method and that they should have known the new treatment method would be inappropriate given my secondary conditions as it comes with a known, significant reduction of dose bioavailability. This factor combined with my coexisting health condition lowered the dose absorption significantly. I believe they should have known this sharp sudden reduction in bioavailability would severely exacerbate my other pre-existing conditions. After transitioning me to the second method. I reported more severe symptoms. Despite my distress they refused to adjust the treatment for weeks. When I called urgently seeking assistance, nurse Erin Hendricks yelled at me and hung up. I found her behavior unprofessional and her statements inaccurate. I think she's unsuited for this profession. Instead of looking for a solution, they claimed my symptoms were unrelated to the treatment, which in my experience contradicts well‑established medical science. I needed stabilization, but when I declined a recommendation I found to be ridiculous, unsafe and impossible under the circumstances, they dropped me as a patient leaving me to suffer with no medical care for a physiological crisis I believe they caused After they dropped me, they finally raised the dose to the level I had requested, which seemed to acknowledge part of their mistake, but the treatment method was still wrong so I continued to struggle with severe symptoms. In my opinion a competent doctor would have run labs, managed symptoms and referred me to a specialist. After they ended my care during a medical crisis they provided no emergency coverage and no support. I felt completely abandoned. Lab tests ordered by a new clinician confirmed this change left me with almost no effective level, I trusted this clinic and NP Kristen Wald to prescribe the treatment method and dosing but it seems they failed to consider my underlying conditions and plan treatments around my specific needs. In my opinion, a competent provider would have been more cautious given my medical history. They're supposed to plan treatment around the individual needs of a patient. I counted on them to make the right choices for my situation and guide me through the process. In my eyes, they failed miserably. This treatment can't be stopped abruptly without medical guidance. It took several weeks to re-establish care. I was functioning optimally prior to this nightmare, prepping a business launch but am still dealing with lingering symptoms and have a long recovery ahead. For 16 weeks I suffered severe 24/7 symptoms. This completely derailed my life for five months. Last year Pam Campbell gave me inaccurate information on the results of a painful, invasive test. She said the biopsy was "benign, but the lab report stated there was insufficient tissue to test which, for me, raises concerns about whether the procedure was performed properly. When I asked about the discrepancy I was told she "misread the report." I believe a child could have read that lab report and understood what it meant. I now wonder if the procedure may have been unnecessary in the first place as they never suggested a re-test. In my opinion this practice has been clinically careless and incompetent. I also believe they've been administratively misleading and unreliable. This should concern anyone seeking care here. It seems they have forgotten their oath, "First do no harm".
