The office experience is very poor. Be prepared to call several times just to get a person. Voicemail is often full and if you are lucky to get through, they put you on hold for 15 minutes until the system reroutes the call back to voicemail which is full. I have been contemplating giving an updated review but feel too strongly to not. When we first started with them, it went really well. The first review, I meant it. They gave my daughter too much peanut treatment for her "challenge". As her face is getting puffy and I am trying not to lose my cool, I asked sarcastically if they were going to give her meds?? Dr. Moss goes, "do you have Benadryl in your purse?" I looked at him in disbelief and quickly got my Benadryl and gave her two children's Benadryl. After 30 minutes, she STILL wasn't getting better. I went to the nurses station and let them know she wasn't getting any better. They gave her an adult Zyrtec and told me just be patient. As I am fuming, they don't even come to check on her until I opened the door wide open and flared at each person who walked by. This is not the only issue. They were fantastic before covid. NOW, we have YET to have an appointment go ON TIME. They are LATE every time with HORRIBLE service. Every person is disgruntled or seem as if they don't want to be there. Their customer service went to hell. I do not plan on going back and looking at options to report to the military. If they go back to how they were, that would be great but the last year has been a nightmare with them. read more

So rude and they (Karol) told me the wrong website, "it's dot com", but was so condescending as if she said it correctly...was actually .net to print out new patient paper forms. My primary care sent us here for an allergy test. Can't imagine what the medical staff is like if they're admin has no damn empathy or customer service...I don't even feel comfortable going anymore.. read more

Doctor Moss was recommended by a co-worker when I first moved here a few years ago. I did have a few years in the middle of this round of treatment, with another Allergy Doctor that continued the regime Dr. Moss set up before returning here to VA. Catch all that?? ;) "The Good" - The fact that I no longer have some insane allergy symptoms. The shots work, plain and simple. - Dr. Moss is a cool guy and will take the time to explain the "why" as well as the "what". Both of which are very important. - The staff fulfills the roles needed in a doctors office. Although it is a professional environment you can tell that not only do the people that work there enjoy their jobs and what they do, they also care about the people they take care of. Some of the roles include the "enforcer" but even she is cool. - I know it is not a process that will take a week, or even a month, to correct. The Doc, is not only very clear about what the treatment entails he reviews the big picture which is very thorough and appreciated. - If I have a 1:00 pm appointment, I am seen at 1:00 pm... not 1:05, not 1:10, that is the same respect I expect from any doctor, if I am on time you should be too. "The Meh" - The office is located in a small professional center off of the municipal road in Chesapeake. The first time I drove up I thought "Oh Lord...". File this under Do not go off of first impressions. - Parking. The Chesapeake office has a partial dirt lot and partial paved lot. Not a big deal but some people may be put off. - This goes under "Meh" because you get needles in your arms. I know it will be good in the end... and yet the needles. - Why only four stars... I am not a fan of Doctors... and there is not a lazy boy in the waiting room. If that day comes, Five Stars... easy. ;) - Because this Doctor is good, the initial get in the door appointment for a new patient was one month out. "The Bad" - Nothing bad to comment on, if there was, he would not be my doctor. read more

Then after I authorized ordering the serum, they said I was NOT in network and I have to pay them for overpriced OUT OF NETWORK serum I could have gotten from an honest in network doctor for less money. read more

My son and I both come here. I get allergy shots but I'm switching him elsewhere because I cannot handle the office staff which has changed since I started. They are ALWAYS behind schedule and the front desk doesn't seem to understand that the patients time is valuable as well as the provider. They ask you to show 15 minutes early, always running a minimum of 15 minutes behind which isn't pleasant for a child or convenient if you have other things going on in your life. Two weeks ago, my legs started covering in hives and they lasted for a few weeks. So ,I tried to set up an appointment as soon as possible with Allergy & Ashma Specialists location in Chesapeake. Last time I was at Allergy and Asthma Specialists, it was in Norfolk and with Dr. Moss. This time, the earliest appointment I could get was with Dr. Koenig That was my first mistake! He asked me a few questions about my family history. That was about IT! He didn't bother to look at my hives or answer any of my questions. The whole time, I could feel that he was trying to get my out the door as soon as possible so he could see another patient. When I asked for a prescription and some medicines for my hives and he didn't want to give my any prescriptions. He ended up telling me that I could just take OTC zyrtec about 3 times/day to prevent the hives. I guess he forgot the fact that if one was to take 3 zyrtec tablets a day, that person would be drowsy as heck! So, my appointment ended after 5 minutes. I got a prescription for OTC zyrtec and that was it. All in all, I paid $30 co-pay for NOTHING! I could have diagnosed myself! read more

Great Doctors! Very attentive to your needs as a patient. Yet, the scheduling and nurse staff is lacking. Very unprofessional and have tones like they wish they were anywhere else than sitting down assisting you. It's a shame, bc the clinical care is awesome. read more

Been coming to Dr. Pendell & Dr. Moss Sr. for almost 20 years now. They do awesome work with all their patients and really have the good of their patients in mind. The Chesapeake office is manned by an older staff and is therefore somewhat slower than the other branches, but none the less effective. We appreciate their service! read more

Sadly, this Allergy & Asthma Specialist Office has gotten worse over the years and especially since they moved to their new location across from DePaul Hositpal in Norfolk. This is the third time I've gone and the office was closed without any notice from the office to me as a paying customer. I was told long ago it was because there was no doctor on sight. When I asked why I wasn't notified of the closing they said the notice of the closing was on the door for a month, but I get my shots every 8 weeks and so do many other customers. They said I could check their website! Really!? How about since I'm paying that you have the common courtesy to text, call, email your customers like other businesses. They said they do but I received nothing and apparently neither did the other people standing in the hallway as shocked as I was that the office was yet again closed. Don't say you don't have my information because if I owe you a dime you seem to find me. The customer service here is deplorable! Oh, and if you miss your shot you get chastised by the nurses; where other customers can hear the conversation....HIPPA violation! Then, they want you to catch up on the shots you missed. So, let me get this straight...the office closed no fault of mine, my shots are late, now I have to inconvenience my work schedule to come back twice and pay double copay's to get caught back up because your office was closed. Oh wait, then they run out of your serum so you can't take all your shots and you have to come back and pay another copay. Why not order your serum when you notice it's running low and not have your clients inconvenienced again to come back to finish shots and pay yet another copay. You do the math! I think I've probably seen my doctor twice in 5 plus years. I don't know what happened Dr. Moss but you should be appalled in how your customers are being treated. I understand things happen but a little customer service goes a long way in keeping clients. I only stayed this long because I was told I'd have to redo the allergy test again if I changed doctors....well, I'm ready to subject myself to the horrid test again! read more

I have been a patient at the Chesapeake location of Allergy and Asthma Specialists for over 20 years. Sadly, I would have to agree with other reviewers that have observed the overall quality of patient care decline in recent years; most notably during the current COVID-19 pandemic pandemonium. It was during this time that the practice decided it was best to discontinue all allergy injections and close all offices to "foot traffic". How can denying needed immunotherapy to patients at the beginning of the Tidewater pollen onslaught (to name just one example) be rationalized? Without the needed therapy, allergic reactions are likely to "flare" as even they stated in their multiple emails trying to figure out how the practice would handle its patient care (with confusingly different information in every email). Surely, I, who does not have an M.D. after my name, do not have to impress upon the decision makers at this medical group that allergy inflamed airways only make people/patients more susceptible to any respiratory infection including COVID-19!! Their answer (per a phone call to one of their offices) was to do the usual route of antihistamines, nasal sprays, etc. until some undetermined time in the future when the offices reopen. By the way, there are individuals who have reactions and/or drug interactions to some of these antihistamines IF ONE COULD EVEN FIND THEM AT THE STORES NOW! One other questionable point they tried to make is that patients would be unable to practice social distancing in their waiting rooms. Don't get me wrong, I'm all about social distancing at this time, but to say that about the Chesapeake office is verging on ridiculous. This office recently moved from a very small office to a sizable new office location with a SIZABLE waiting room area. Surely the office staff could rearrange the waiting room chairs 6 feet apart to allow for patient distancing, right??? When I tried to make that suggestion to the office staffer on that same phone call, that individual abruptly responded that they were not taking any suggestions. My, my, my, how things have changed. Finally, it is shameful to think that many people will suffer needlessly during this time without the proper immunotherapy. Even the vet down the street from my house is offering curbside service! Maybe the allergist should talk with the vet!! But, hey, happy for our fury friends!! read more
