I came to the Sunday special where it is approximately $8.50 at 6pm to bowl all night, which in my opinion is an absolute steal. We were able to play about six games with four people for about three hours! Tons of fun! They also have food and bollards here, however I did not elect to partake in any of it. I'd recommend your own socks because the ones they charge you for isn't that great. The bowling shoes are also don't have a lot of grip to it so you might slide a bit while bowling. The bowling balls also wary a lot in hole sizes and they seem worn out but that's just nick picking at this point. My biggest compliant is that it is HOT AS BALLS! I was literally sweating since the first round of bowling. None the less, i can't complaint too much because it is cheap and a whole lot of fun! read more

We tried to book lanes for Saturday, January 31st on Thursday, January 29th. I called and was told I would get a call back on Friday as the booking people were unavailable. No one ever called me back. When we arrived Saturday I told the "cashier" and she was very dismissive of me. We got 2 lanes and bumper pads as we had 2 young first time bowlers. There was a problem with one lane... it kept stopping after the first roll.... Told girl at desk, again, not very helpful. Finally asked a different girl and s guy tech came over and announced "There is a problem" no kidding.... We had to change lanes. Second lanes were ok but we had no bumper rails as they didn't have them. It was nice to have the score start over when we changed lanes!!! read more

Don't get me wrong ... we had a blast with our Groupon coupons but the lanes were terrible ... we spent a good 20% of our time resetting the pins because either (1) the ball wouldn't return or (2) it would only set 9 out of 10 pins, requiring another reset. Also, the shoes were 75 years old, the finger holes in 90% of the balls are the size for children and the hand blowers on each lane didn't work. I was shocked to see a bowling league there when we left ... I never thought anyone with a modicum of bowling experience would choose to bowl here. We used a Groupon coupon but without that??? $35 for ONE HOUR of bowling and that doesn't include shoes. So, for two people to bowl for two hours would be $45 (fee plus shoes). Ridiculous! read more

The website said they were open till twelve, when we showed up at 8 they said they close in an hour. They charged us for the full two hours even though we didn't get our time. The website also said that the shoe rentals were included in the $20 a person price, the shoes weren't actually included and we ended up paying an extra $12 ($6 per person) for the shoes. This place is completely run down. Upon entering we had to wait 5 minutes at the front desk before anyone would come greet us to let us get our shoes and pay for our games. When looking the through the ball selection we couldn't find any in the size we use, a 10lb. We decided to just roll with it and go up to an 11. When getting our game setup on the lane, it wouldn't allow us to put in both players so we had to go back to the front desk to have them manually add our second player. after finally being ready to start playing, I bowled first and the ball failed to return. I bowled the rest of my frame hoping both balls would return and that it had just gotten stuck. Neither ball returned and instead of continuing to fight with this all the issues we decided to just call it a day and ask for a refund as we had only gotten 1 frame for 1 player. When asking for the refund the manager got attitude telling us it was our fault and that certain lighter balls get stuck in certain lanes and we should have come to let her know instead of asking for a refund. After all the issues it wasn't worth moving to another lane to us. She also wasn't willing refund anything other than the 2nd game. Not a welcoming place and completely run down. read more

Area that I would suggest improving is more bowling balls and more new balls. A previous Yelp review mentioned that a pin would just drop occasionally, not very often. This place absolutely sucks! You'd think with how poorly maintained this place is they were have customer service skills. They wouldn't let us have two lanes for a group of 6 and there were multiple lanes open. Smells like feet and very unclean. Our lane kept messing up and dropping pins everywhere. Family kind of place! My young daughter and I come here pretty regularly. They hold leagues and tournaments and such what seems like every weekend. they have a small food selection, typical bar snacks, and a bar that must open later in the evening as it has never been opened while we bowl. The family that runs it are nice people, no complaints. The three stars are for a few reasons: maintenance of the facility, both inside and outside, needs some attention. Stained and molded ceiling tiles, broken tiles, broken chairs, and broken lanes. The outside just looks like it needs a good cleaning and maybe some new asphalt, which is expensive, I get it. Some of their rules, although serving a purpose of some kind, should be looked at a bit differently. One example, is re-usable cups and water bottles like a Yeti cup or Shaker bottle are not allowed in the bowling alley, even if you ask to fill it here from something you purchase. Not very eco-minded. Small issues overall. I know I'll continue to attend here as long as the prices stay reasonable! read more

Had a great time bowling at Alley Gators. The staff is very friendly and the service is prompt. We got the 6 pack, 6 bowlers for 2 hours, shoes, popcorn and soda. We also got several ice buckets of beer. Great safe family night out. read more

the management here is extremely rude and does not care about their customers. We we're out on a lane that kept dropping pins, leading to inaccurate scoring. they would not move us to another lane because an employee was messing around on one and the others were saved for league bowling happening 3 hours later. When speaking with management about the issue they offered no resolution or compensation for the fact that we did not get the service we paid for. Called corporate and Dan is just as rude. read more

I went here last weekend and it was a lot of fun. I got a groupon so the price was very reasonable. The atmosphere was very nice, a lot of familys having fun. Is it outdated? Yes, but it is a bowling alley and it didn't bother me one bit. The place was clean and lanes were kept in good shape. I will be back again. read more

The bar is the actual star here... yeah, there is bowling and such - but the real fun is in the bar. There is a pro shop too, Rusty runs that. He rocks. Thursday night is trivia, they do a poker night and a karaoke night, there is a pro shop and one of those digital networked jukeboxes... But really. Its all about the bar. I think we might have gone for the third ball at the same time once. 7. They didn't like that very much. 8. Look, this isn't the type of bowling alley you bring your kids to. 9. Bowling alleys dont have to be all bling to be a good center, but customer service and atmosphere does . Started as soon as we walked in and i talked to the guy behind the desk. for some reason he decided he couldnt help us and asked another guy to help us. He seemed ok , but the music was so loud i asked him to repeat what he had told me. He literally said " ehh, dont worry its not important". so i asked to pay for 8 games ( 4 each) and he started talking low again, mentioned the possibility of having to move us soon to another lane to oil for the league. I agreed that would be fine. at least that is what i think he said, and he would not speak up or repeat himself so i can understand him. But the total for 8 games was $34.xx!!!!!! and that is no shoe rental as we had our own equipment. waaaaayy to expensive for a place that looks like its a fisherman's market who is a gator fan. so we started to get set up and yet again i had to ask him to make it for 2 people.sheeesh wth is up with this place? we get half way through our first game and the headache we had was unbearable due to the fact they rigged two crappy speakers to blast beyond acceptable volumes. we finished our first game and asked for a refund of the other 6 , then left. nope , will not go back ever. read more

Friendly atmosphere for sure. Place is run down though. Had a leaking roof apparently so no bumpers worked for the little guys. And the ramps for little guys to use to help aim were all broke in some way. The lanes seemed warped due to the leak also. The shoes were old and not well kept. But worst out of everything was the big girl behind the counter that served the popcorn, she licked her fingers after getting a order and then ran her hand thru her hair. No gloves are used for the food service which I think is only popcorn. 2 other customers there saw her do pretty much the same thing at different times than me, so it's a habit for her. Groupon made it worth our money being as it was 2 hours for 2 adults and 2 kids, including shoes, for only $25. read more

I will refrain from giving one star because the beer was good and I did not try the food, which may be phenomenal for all I know. I went in a large group with family and the first incident was that the shoes I was given were separating/ had a huge hole in it. I asked for another pair in my size and it was the same deal. I had to go up a half-size and they still were the worst condition shoes I've ever bowled in but they weren't too bad. Most balls were in good shape a couple had indentations but overall the bowling itself was fine. The main issues really were the shoes and the fact that the man running the bar needed to see ID for every person drinking including my parents who are in their 50's. Beers must be kept on a table in a carpeted area away from the lanes which makes perfect sense but is a little inconvenient. Just feeling watched really detracted from the atmosphere. I am and always was a serious bowler. I've worked in bowling lanes in my earlier years. This place has 32 lanes and the few times I've attempted to bowl here, 8 of the 32 lanes were out of order. I've seen buckets on the lanes to catch water leaking from the roof, one month to the next. The lanes are not properly oiled on a regular basis. I would ashamed to own this center. The owners obviously care nothing about the conditions I described. If you family are not a serious bowler, you could bring your family here for fun, since you wouldn't care about what present here. I won't ever go to another bowling alley in Gainesville after visiting Alley Gatorz. I enjoy bowling, but always felt like it was so expensive after shoe rentals and games; not at Alley Gatorz. Almost every night they have some crazy special where bowling costs close to nothing! Wednesday nights: 50 cent night: you pay a $5 cover and then everything is 50cents games, shoe rentals, 10oz beers, hot dogs..its a great deal. I go bowling once or twice a week now. That place was the worst bowling experience we ever had. First of all, the other visitors looked like homeless and many of them were drunk. I will never recommend to go there with your family. The kitchen looked disgusting and I would never order anything to eat from them unless I want to have stomach problems. The Pepsi that we bought tasted quite strange and terrible; it seems that it was mixed with tap water. We bought four bowling games but the games stopped every 20-30 minutes saying that our time was over, we had to call personell every time (around 4-5 times for that issue) to continue playing. We could not finish the fourth game, since after it stopped again and we went to the front desk and the girl told us that we had finished our fourth game, although we just started playing it. We argued a little and then just left. I will never go again to that place. read more
