We initially called thinking we had a transmission issue. They were the only place to tell us that what they'll charge will depend on what they find. That already made us feel very comfortable with that as every other place we called said it would be $130 for diagnostic alone! When we got there and left the car, they called right away to tell us it was an issue with an improperly closed oil plug and not the transmission. They replaced the plug and only charged us for the oil change due to the oil we had lost. They were so kind and willing to explain every part of the process and problem. When we brought up some other issues, they were willing to check and let us know what was up without charging anything for it. They told us that the car was completely fine and safe and that the extra work wasn't necessary which I have NEVER heard a mechanic tell me. That tells you everything you need to know about Allgood. We were just driving by on a road trip but if I lived in the area this would definitely be my go-to for anything relating my car. I bought my first car three years ago and was referred to Allgood by a friend. Ever since then, I've gone to Allgood with every car job bigger than an oil change, and they have earned my trust and respect again and again. Any mechanic that tells you you don't need work when you think you do, is a gem. The first job I went to them for was an exhaust manifold leak. It took them a few days to order the part, but after that, the turnaround was quick and they worked to get the job done before the end of a Friday so I could pick up the car before the weekend. 8 months after I bought my car it threw a check engine light. I brought it to Allgood and they scanned the code (catalytic converter) and explained that I really only needed to get a new cat to pass emissions, the car would be ok without it. I brought my car to Allgood a couple of times to get it inspected before I went on a long road trip, and each time they told me it looked great and didn't charge me since they didn't need to fix anything. The car never quit on me, so I think they knew what they were talking about :) I even brought in the car to get suspension & brakes replaced based on the Toyota recommended maintenance schedule, and the guys at Allgood called me up to say that they didn't think I needed new suspension or brakes - they looked fine. Only honest mechanics will tell you that. Unfortunately, I got into a wreck with my '08 Matrix this summer, so I needed to buy a "new" used car. When it came time to get the used car checked out, I knew who I trusted - Allgood. I called a day ahead and scheduled a time to get it inspected - came in at the agreed upon time and they were ready with a report an hour and a half later. Price was remarkably low as well. Allgood has the best reviews of any auto shop in Denton for good reason. They're wonderful, honest mechanics who will treat you well and explain what you need to know to understand your vehicle. A local shop that does a great service. Robert was honest, fast and very upfront with the repair work. Had a check engine and Stabilitrak warning light on a 2012 Camaro. He cleaned the mass air intake/throttle body that had a lot of dirt and carbon build up and the car is running smooth as silk with all codes cleared. I hour labor for $60. I know plenty of other shops that would have suggested a lot of parts replacements and time... and expense. It's the best auto repair service experience I've had in 30 years. All I have to say is, "Wow!" My daughter accidentally filled her car with diesel. And, after suggestions from multiple vendors, some suggesting to send it to a dealer, I looked to the recommendations of Yelp. The common theme of the Allgood responses were that they were HONEST. They did not disappoint! From all of the internet horror stories, I was expecting an estimate of $1,000 or more. Allgood initially told me that it would probably be around $300-600. When they got it in, they said that after draining the fuel tank and flushing the fuel system everything looked good, even the spark plugs. Car was running good and ready to be picked up. I have a feeling that other shops would have added a lot of little consumable charges, but not this group. $218 later and my daughter was on her way!!! I can't recommend this business enough. They've now gained a lifelong customer. read more

I was having intermittent trouble with my car not starting. It was periodically blowing starter fuses. I am a intermediate-level backyard mechanic, so I did all I could think of (and learn from forums and YouTube) to diagnose and fix the problem. No luck. I took the car to Allgood and explained the problem and my attempts to fix it. They listened, said it sounded like the starter was failing, gave me a quote (parts and labor) to replace it, and said they would check for wiring problems and such before replacing the starter. By the way, I got a quote to replace the started from another local, well-known, shop with a good reputation. The quote from this other shop was $250 higher than Allgood. (To be fair, the other shop has a longer warranty, but I don't think it was worth the extra $250.) So, I dropped off the car at Allgood one afternoon. They got to it the next morning, called me and said they could not find any wiring or electrical problems, and recommended replacing the starter at the quoted price. I said, "OK", and a few hours later, they called and said my car was ready. I am completely satisfied with the work Allgood did. I think Allgood is a friendly, no-frills, no-nonsense shop that is staffed by a bunch of good, honest mechanics. I recommend Allgood to anyone who needs work done on their vehicle. read more

Our son is at UNT and his car began to exhibit signs of a failing alternator. On his way home from work his car died. We requested a wrecker through AAA and had it towed to his parking lot as it was by the time they arrived 1am. We decided to have it towed to the shop associated with the wrecker the following morning as our knowledge of the area from afar was limited and this service was associated with AAA. Big mistake. We received a quote of $1400 to replace the alternator and battery. My son had Auto Zone check the battery before the middle of the night breakdown and they said it was good. My husband questioned that and the quote overall and the individual danced around his quote. We read some reviews about Allgood and contacted them. Ryan was welcoming and friendly and without knowing the other quote gave his general knowledge price which was less than the amount from the other shop. We had our car towed over and Ryan worked it into their service schedule. He performed all the necessary work quickly and followed up stating he would be doing some extra testing as the battery appeared to be good and he didn't want to replace it without need. In the end he was right and we paid nearly half of what the other shop quoted. We were at the mercy of strangers to take care of our son and help him have a safe vehicle to drive home 6 hours away and Ryan was just the right person. I highly recommend this shop, finding it was like finding gold. My situation: I needed brakes for my 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I thought I was going to need all 4 pads replaced, plus rotors (previous shop), along with replacing the Vapor Purge Valve. These guys were completely honest and I only needed rear brake pads, and didn't need to replace the valve. It cost a lot less than the quote I was given at another shop. Picture this: 2013: 7 Months Pregnant, in July, No A/C in the car with 25 mile commute to work each way, 5 days a week in Dallas traffic= no bueno. One hour later, yes, ONE hour later and a VERY affordable and reasonable invoice later...I had ice-cold air blowing from my 2009 Honda Accord and it's still blowing ice-cold air.
