I have been a customer of Pioneer Automotive since about 2012 when I moved to the Hickory Creek area. I have always received the best of service which started out with a State Inspection. Over the years the business moved to its larger state of the art facility further down on Teasley across from Guyer High school offering several working bays and a stylish waiting area with the same great customer service and accommodations. They have started back doing State Inspection as of this year! I have been with them for 9 years and they continue to be very relevant for me and my family for all our auto needs. Headlights didn't work so I took my car into their shop. They said the lights were working. I turn the lights on again, nothing. I show them a video of my car at night and you clearly can tell the lights aren't working. They finally agree that there's a problem and say they can replace the bulbs for me. A little while later the lights have been replaced, but I can't tell if the lights work because it's still day time. I wait until night and flip the switch. Nothing. I go back the next morning to let them know and they say "If we let you leave, it was working". So now they're calling me a liar and want an additional $200 for diagnostics that they didn't run when I first brought my car in. No thanks. I'll take my car elsewhere. I'm not trusting you guys if you didn't even offer the diagnostic the day before and tried to brush me off twice in 2 days. They said they would reach out to try to resolve the problem, but it's been a month and I haven't heard back. read more

They nicely quoted me 2500 for parts and labor on a catalytic convertor and 1458 to order and replace downstream sensor. I feel bad for those who don't know any better. I decided to order the part and take my business elsewhere. The OEM catalytic converter ran me about $540 on Mazda parts and the OEM downstream cost me $140 smh the parts were $680!! These assholes tried to run up $3200 in labor cost. Needless to say, I wasted 192 bucks on a diagnostic for them to do nothing. I went to the mechanic up the street who told me to get OEM parts first (02 sensor) and that would likely fix it smh he told me this for free smh Talk about putting a bad taste in your mouth, I hope this place goes out of business. Oh, and they couldn't even drive my car up to the front like a normal repair shop smh I got my steps in but I thought what terrible service. read more

Steven at Pioneer Automotive is the guy you want to talk to if you need help with getting your vehicle checked or serviced, even without an appointment! He was very helpful and resourceful. He communicated well with me throughout the whole process while my vehicle was in service and made sure to update me in a timely manner. He also never tried to sell me anything outside of the service I requested. He and his team did their best to find out what was wrong with my car and ,although they could not find the exact problem, he still offered sound advice and most importantly, he gained my trust and respect. I took my car here to be worked on. I had a coupon for a free estimate. But when they called me, they said it's going to be $1000. And that they had to do a further extensive estimate but they still didn't know for sure what it was. They were going to try something for $1000 and it might've might not work. So I decided to get my car and then they said oh that's $200 for the more extensive estimate, Which they said may solve my problem. So I had to pay $200 to get my car that was still not working properly. Also, They said their mechanics charge $189 an hour, which is way above the state average and local average. I found it much cheaper at other places. I would not, recommend going here. read more

Did not want to pay $2000 for front hub assemblies. That's $350 total in parts, if I buy Moog or Timkens myself, and that has it at $1650 labor- it makes sense to just add hub assemblies to the next front brake job I do. I declined. The clunking I went in for wasn't my bearings/hub assemblies anyways, it was my new left strut hitting my frame after my left rear springs bottomed out. I replaced the strut under warranty myself, and that solved the clunking sounds. No other shops since, has noticed bad bearings, and I don't hear the usual bad bearing sounds, yet I wouldn't be surprised if they're less than great, so I don't want to be too hard on Pioneer. I just would rather have had them notice the issue I went in there to find. So they didn't hit the nail on the head and $2000 is outrageous for hub assemblies on my particular vehicle. They were very thorough in examining my car and turns out I was right there were things that needed to be fixed and they identified something I forgot to mention. Zero stars if possible. Pioneer has a good name around town and my parents have used them for sometime. I've noticed the inconsistency with the way their treat customers. When my parents talk or need assistance from pioneer they get the best treatment hands down. ( my parents are white) and I'm black so when I go in to talk with pioneer I get a totally different result from them. I left Pioneer feeling ripped off. The manager wanted me to get all kinds of services totalling thousands of dollars. I did not get the tire service I wanted,which I paid for, until I brought it up in a follow up call. When I returned to get this service, they wanted to charge me again. My experience: I just went in for a bad car battery their manager tried to sell me on a bunch of stuff I didn't need and tried to make it sound urgent. They changed my battery like I asked, but on top of a $200 battery, I had to pay a $115 installation fee. I literally could have done that myself with the few tools I already had in my car. Based on his interactions with other customers, I can tell he's used to the sales pitches. Beware of the "We don't even make money on [whatever service]" part of the pitch. I heard him say that to every person that went in there for something they clearly make money on. I went in to fix a problem, not be advertised to. They were also out of loaner cars, so I had to wait in the lobby. My assessment: They'll do the work but they'll charge you a lot for it. It would be best to go in knowing exactly what you need beforehand, so you don't spend $100's unnecessarily. If you don't know much about cars, ask a neighbor who does. Otherwise, it's conveniently located and the service was fairly timed, given they had other cars to work on. They were out of loaner cars once I got there. So if you need a loaner car, I'd advise making an appointment first. read more

I stopped by Pioneer Automotive yesterday as I needed to have the air in my tires checked. I asked what it would cost, and Steven said a "Hi Five". LOL! :) A young lady by the name of Madison then proceeded to check all my tires, and added air to those that needed it. The two of them could not have been nicer. 0 stars if possible, I work on my own car and do maintenance. oil Changes are more difficult so I bring it in to get an oil change. 1 day later oil is spilling out at a fast rate. I looked at it and saw they did the old don't tighten the nut SCAM. So I take it back up there and they say they have to do a flush with dye to see what's going on, which is completely not true. All they had to do what tighten the nut. I get accidents happen sometimes but them trying to sell me on something completely unneeded was beyond me. Never going here again, waste of a lot of time and a lot of money. read more

I have had major repairs done for my Mercedes E class. I got a price for the same job from the dealership and it was nearly double. After I got it fixed at Pioneer same issue started happening again after some time. When I brought it back to them, they took ownership of the situation and fixed it all over again without charging me anything. I have delt with shady mechanics in the past who didn't back their work and tried to charge me again for similar issues. So I know how much it means to have a place that will have you bring the car back and fix whatever is going on without additional charges. Took my wife's Honda odyssey in for a simple oil change, was charged $80 because as the kind old lady behind the counter put it "that car calls for synthetic oil". It does not call for synthetic oil anywhere in the owners manual or anywhere I've looked but I was in a hurry and honestly didn't have the patience to argue with them to get the bill down to where it should have been. I was never asked what kind of oil I wanted, was never asked about anything. They just went straight to the most expensive oil they sell. Now I know why they were able to get me in last minute for an oil change no problem. For the most part I had great experience in the past (old Location) ever since they moved to the new location, their prices have gone up, their customer service decreased, and they've charge for things I did not ask them to do. They took advantage of both my daughters when they brought their cars in for a simple oil change. 1. Charged $80.00 for oil change. 2. ask for oil change and charged us to inspect oil and oil change for a total fo $130.00. $80 for an oil change? It's cheaper at the dealership or Kwik Kar. Faster too. We dropped off our car for an oil change at 10am. It wasn't ready until 5:00p.m. On all occasions, they manager offer 50% next oil change. Seriously why would we come back? read more

Took my classic car in for them to determine why the right rear of the car was 1 inch lower than the left rear. They decided that the rear shocks needed to be replaced and offered to replace them at a cost of over $800. I know that the car sits of the coil springs and that the shocks have little to do with the stance when not moving. Plus, I know that $800 for material and labor for simply replacing the rear shocks it way too expensive. So, I purchased coil springs ($120) and shocks ($130) and took them to Bobby Gentry in Denton and he charged $300 to install both springs and shocks. The only positive of the experience with Pioneer is that they didn't charge to look at the car. Nontheless, I won't be taking cars to them in the future. read more

Had one truck serviced yesterday and all went well. But today was told that the total for brakes for the other truck was going to be roughly $773 for our 4runner. My husband told him that was really expensive and couldn't afford that and he was going to make some calls. Guy then told him he could them for $560. Kinda concerning to drop down in pricing that easily. My husband went and picked up the truck and took it to another mechanic in Corinth that is doing the same thing for $217. The will FOREVER be my go to place for my car. Earlier this year I had some issues with my Jetta and they fixed it twice, but unfortunately the engine blew shortly after repairs. It had nothing to do with them as they did excellent work. I was so sad as I loved my jetta (it was very dear to me, as it was my mother in law's car before she passed). A few months passed and I found a cash car ( 2000 Mercedes Benz E320) that I fell in love with. Even though it was an older car, I have not had any issues... Fast forward to yesterday, I was on my way home from McKinney and my car was acting as if it wanted to cut off. I initially ignored it, but it continued, especially when I made turns or would accelerate after a light/stop. I knew I needed to go to the shop, but I had no extra funds for any big repairs. Mind you, I have yet to go Christmas shopping for my boys. I dropped my car off around 2:30 and wished for the best. I got a call later on saying there were lots of codes from my diagnostic and they didn't know where to begin... I worried all night and half the morning about my car and was trying to figure out how I was going to pay for these repairs. Around 2:00 I got a call saying that they cleared everything and my car was ready to go. I went to pick up my car and he handed me my keys and said merry Christmas. I didn't understand. I said "merry Christmas as well, but how much do I owe you?" He said "You are good to go. Merry Christmas!". I almost cried! I am not even sure what they did, but I am so thankful. I thanked them a million times and gave them the little change I had to buy a drink. This is such a blessing!! I car had a over heating problem. I took it here to Pioneer for repair. They said I needed a new water pump so I paid over $650.00 to get it fixed. I told them to drive when done to test it. They said they did. While driving home the car over heated as before and I had to have my car towed home..I called Bryan to let them know and all he said was ok. No mention to bring it back it. Pioneer Automotive just saved me! It was raining outside and my windshield wipers went haywire, and luckily I made it to Pioneer with some Rain-X. They were busy and said they probably couldn't get to my car today, but that they would take a quick look to see what the problem was. I was very upset because I knew I was going to be out of a car and didn't know what I was going to do, and they looked and quickly diagnosed and solved the problem within a matter of minutes! And then I was afraid it would be a super expensive repair but it was only $9! I can't believe everything is okay! After almost being scammed by a dealership, took my daughter's car in to Pioneer to see what was causing an irritating noise. Dealer said noise was caused by brakes and rotors that naturally were not covered by an extended warranty and would cost $500. Pioneer not only saved me money by saying it was not brakes and rotors, but literally showed me what was causing the noise and showed me what my brakes looked like ( good). We have our cars inspected there and they will give you a free oil change every 5th one. 10% discount for Denton ISD employees as well. read more
