But if you can catch a ride on one of the trains it truly is a rare lifetime experience. However, finding the station is tricky, although the site clearly states it's located on Ridge Rd. there are no signs labeling the street at either entrance/exit. If you're coming from Kent you'll want to look for 2 bridges ( one has brightly colored paintings at the base & a sign that reads "hotel parking") & drive around the curve to find free parking. If you're coming from the Northside District near Lock 15, it's directly behind the Northside Marketplace. For the most part, the station is clean and the staff are informative & welcoming. They have a basic knowledge of what's available in the area and can provide you with a number of local activities. However, this station only has porta potty's that are locked during the off hours (the ticket agent explained this is due to vandalism by the locals) & are often disgusting! The trash cans are often overflowing & there's not always enough parking. If you can, DO NOT park on the side under the bridges near the woods!!!! There are homeless people camping there. Also, another disadvantage is that there is no indoor seating or signs directing you to the right car to get on. Although there are volunteers, there were two similar trains running on 10/20 & no one knew which on to board...too much confusion & not enough organization!

As we were getting off the train, we had hard time handling the luggage from the train to the platform. The lady working at the cafeteria helped us and several other passengers. We were touched by her kindness and admired her thoughtfulness. We waited for assistance, but no one came. We managed to pull our luggage for a short distance, and then the electric golf cart driver came to help us with our heavy luggage and took us to the main building. We did have very good boarding experience and the red cap agents were very helpful and kind. Hopefully, the wheelchair service will be much better in the future.

When this area was flooded with people on the regular. When Pittsburgh's population was higher. The station is set up where you can transfer to any of the three lines. That basically all go the same directions. It feels grand, it feels ready, but ultimately it feels underused. This station almost feels like a movie set or an attraction at an amusement park. Probably one of the cleanest stations I have ever been to. I really hope that Pittsburgh is able to finally get the T to look more like a T than a Who from Whoville. I also find it funny that the Steel Plaza Station doesn't really sit under the U.S. Steel Tower. But it is what it is.
