They are big, often old, dirty, overcrowded, noisy, impossible to navigate, poorly signed, lousy food, uncomfortable seating, you have to be there too long with nothing to do, and on and on, etc., etc. Maybe you can tell, I really don't like airports... and as a result I don't like flying. "Akron Canton Airport " may have changed my mind. I just had the best airport experience I can remember in a long long time. I parked right out front. And a man in a van followed me to my parking space and took me and my luggage directly to the entrance... FOR FREE! Can you believe that? Then when I entered the building it was clean, not crowded, good signage, friendly helpful people, efficient. It was a breath of fresh air. Low stress ,low hassle, airport. Even the TSA agents are friendly! Because it's such a small airport everyone that is there for travel also feels less stressed and no one is rushing around. We flew from CAK to Florida on Breeze Air- and again, low stress friendly flight attendants and even the pilot was funny ! It's so easy and convenient to fly from this regional airport. They have long term parking for $13/day with a short walking distance to the terminal. Lines for checkin and TSA are super short. The gate area has restrooms, a water bottle filler, and a coffee shop. Our American Airlines flights were both on time. Highly recommend supporting this local airport even if the ticket cost is a bit higher. read more

He had a flight with breeze and although I've been to Akron Canton airport before its been a minute. First off we arrive at the airport and we parked it look like the airport's front yard and there was a really sweet fella in a shuttle van that offered to take you to the airport it probably from as far away as we parked was a 3 minute walk but we took a ride with him anyway. He dropped us off and I swear to God this place was empty empty. All we had were carry-ons so we didn't have to check any luggage but there wasn't a line anyway so there's that. We got the security it was not your standard TSA they were wearing different uniforms but they were so very nice and a whole lot different than the TSA people. We got through security and a flash again there was no line. That's when I started taking more pictures and videos. Walking through the airport there might have been one or two people when we finally got up to our gate apparently breeze airways was the only one flying at that time. There is a dozen people at the bar. We sat down at the bar had a few drinks while we were waiting for our airplane everybody couldn't have been nicer is such a different experience compared to Cleveland Hopkins. 10 out of 10 will fly again. I can't believe I've never reviewed my favorite airport! I love it here so much. It is clean, easy, and efficient in-and-out. Parking is very easy and inexpensive. Everyone who works here is kind and accommodating. I would even venture to say it is my favorite regional airport (and that's saying a lot since I am a flight attendant by trade and see a lot of airports). I especially love when they have the Halloween event for kids. We've gone a few years and my son enjoys it every year. Akron-Canton is truly a better way to go. Now please bring back flights to EWR (or IAD would do as well) so I can have an easier commute to work! read more

Flew to Charleston on a direct flight with Breeze Airways. My first experience with both CAK and Breeze. While it was a little longer drive to CAK than CLE, it was WELL worth it! I couldn't believe how close we parked to the terminal. We were traveling with a five month old and it was easy peasy. TSA was quick, thorough, respectful and actually decent! Wow. Security with respect! Love it! We were two hours early for our flight, and we found the observation deck. Relaxed, got the baby ready for the 90 minute flight. No rushing. Very clean airport! Decorations were great! There was a play area for toddlers. Noted for the future. Highly recommend for your travel needs. I can't believe that I've not flown out of CAK before, but definitely will be in the future ! read more

Small town America at it's finest! So easy to navigate this small airport. Very clean and well organized and everyone was so friendly, event the TSA agent! When do they have a sense of humor? I was flying American Airlines and their desk was closed at 1130a when I arrived for a 140p flight. There were no signs indicating when they would open. That's more on AA though, I can't fault the airport. IF you have a rental car to return, there will be no attendant, everything is automated. Simply park in an assigned location, take a photo of your mileage and gas level and then walk inside to the Car counter. They now have bluetooth technology that can locate the vehicle in the parking lot. They will verify the mileage and gas level with you and then give you a receipt. Easy Peasey! read more

If I could leave a minus 0 for the driver of the parking lot shuttle service, I would. On Feb. 5 my daughter and I returned home after a business trip to Palm Springs where she had a photo shoot . We were exhausted from the long trip back to Akron after a delay in Chicago from the weather. Our flight arrived at roughly 8:00 P.M. When we retrieved our luggage from baggage claim, we made our exit thru door 5. There was a parking lot shuttle waiting and there were other passengers seated. The driver had collected the yellow tickets that showed where they had parked their cars ...we were not given a ticket from our pickup , but we remembered that our car was parked in 21-I. The driver never offered to help us with our luggage. He sat and watched my daughter struggle with my luggage and hers. I have severe Sciatica, When we reached our car, the driver , once again SAT and WATCHED her struggle with pulling our luggage from the shuttle. DId he treat the other passengers the same? NO...he assisted with theirs and chatted with them as he did so. I called to report the incident ...gave the same info . I was ASKED if I had requested the driver to assist us with our luggage. In all actuality, no. The other passengers who he assisted didn't "ask" to be helped either. Our parking fee was $ 75.00. I am still waiting for a call from the supervisor....... read more

CAK is a small airport that is easy to navigate. I anticipate traveling here frequently for business, and I wish there were more convenient, nonstop flight options between Savannah. Currently, the only nonstop service available is through Allegiant, and their service is quite limited. read more

This airport is one of my favorites and it's right in my backyard! From my door to my gate it was 25 minutes, this includes parking, checking a bag and TSA. It was roomy and not crowded and it was clean. There are not many restaurants to choose from, but we didn't have a long wait so that was fine. There is a kids play area for those traveling with young kids and even a sensory room for those that might need it. It has been a while since I had flown out of CAK. Akron-Canton or CAK on your boarding pass, is a small, easy to navigate airport. There are no ticket agents until two hours before the first flight. If you arrive the suggested three hours before your flight as we did, you'll be standing around for an hour. We had a 1:00 PM flight and our travel day was projected to be heavy with travelers. It was advised to get to the airport early, so we did. We arrived around 10:00 AM, then stood around with exactly three other people for an hour. Not a damn thing opens until 11:00 at CAK so getting a snack or beer was out of the question. At 11:00 when the ticket agent arrived, everything was quick and smooth. The agent was pleasant and cheerful. She checked our bags, etc. and we were on our way to security. Let me tell you, when there are only about 10 people total going through security, it is a breeze. And...this will probably never happen again; Becky and I were the first people to go through the security line! First! Best security ever. The TSA guards were professional. They were polite and funny too. We've encountered too many TSA security personnel who seem to hate their jobs and pass that hatred along to travelers. Not at Akron-Canton. They were great. Once we were past security and into the terminal we found that there weren't many food/beverage options. We did find Great Lakes Brewing Company and grabbed a couple of seats at the bar until boarding time. read more

Been a here a few times and never seen this place crowded and busy! This airport does have a rural feel for sure! The few staff I have met seem delighted there are a handful of passengers coming through! The airport is clean and really well kept! The access to arrival & departure curbside is easy. I noticed the the TSA security is also very pleasant to work with! I was surprised to to see TSA pre-check lane but certainly a plus. The airport parking lot is massive for a smaller airport which is a plus for sure! This is a great Airport, it doesn't make me nervous like LAX. I flew into this airport about 10 days ago and rode the escalator down and there were my grand babies running to me. Made flying worth it, to see their faces. I like flying into this airport, it's clean and easy to navigate. I had my suitcase within 10 min or so after arriving. I compare this to Meadows Field in Bakersfield. So easy, and no stress. Heading out this morning after a wonderful vacation with the family. Check-in was a breeze, security took a whole 5 minutes, if that. Airport is clean and employees were nice. At gate 8 is Arby's and a Brewing Co. So if you need something more, get it before you come upstairs. read more

The security line is amazing compared to big airports (Hartsfield-Jackson) and the terminal is clean and comfortable. The only negative is the lack of restaurant options. There is one place to eat in the airport and while not bad, has a very limited menu. No need to show up here two hours before your flight. read more

I love the easy access parking, quick check-in and TSA security check is a breeze The one thing they could improve on is the food options that are offered at the 1 restaurant on the premises but they are currently working on improvements To me this airport is also very welcoming because of the fact I am here 8 times a month over the past 3.5 years so I feel like I have made friends with some of the airline and security staff. This is one of several hidden gems in Stark County Ohio. I'm almost afraid to give it so many stars, because I don't want a million people flocking here and making the lines longer! CAK has the majority of the amenities offered at a larger airport, however the lines for security are a fourth of what you experience at CLE (the next closest airport). Parking is close and convenient, and ticket prices are typically the same cost, or less expensive than other airports. read more

This place makes traveling the least stressful thing you could ever go through. Something about busy airports and the crowds of people just make a stressful situation even more stressful but not at CAK. It first starts with the parking. I parked in the lot, and the second I opened the door of my car to get out, the bus was waiting for me right behind my car. I got in the car and was handed a note. It said who picked me up, the lot my car was in, and even the exact placement of my car. The driver spoke to me like we've been long lost friends and dropped me right off at the gate. Then, the ticketing, everyone was so nice. People chatted with you, asked you how you were doing, and even helped with my bags. Security was fast, even though the TSA agents were cracking jokes and making it fun to get through a line that is usually stressful. There are a few areas to eat, but they do have Great Lakes Brewery so you cannot go wrong. To top everything, even the great customer service, flights are so much cheaper flying out of CAK then CLE. If this is a close option to you, I highly suggest it. Such a great experience and will for sure be returning! read more

I love Akron-Canton Airport. It may not have all the bells and whistles or amenities of many larger airports but its small size makes it very easy to find your way around. There is only one terminal with 11 gates to support its two runways. There are a few restaurants (Subway, Cinnabon, Great Lakes Brewing Company, Buckhead Grill and Arby's) and CAK Marketplace which is your standard airport convenience store and gift shop. There is also pretty decent free Wi-fi and plenty of places to charge up your devices. Employees are great. Everyone is friendly, helpful, polite and efficient. Even the TSA personnel are friendly and engaging, they make passing through the security checkpoint relatively painless. Akron-Canton Airport is the nearest commercial airport to my parents' home though Cleveland Hopkins International Airport isn't that much farther. Every time I call my mother to tell her I'll be flying in for a visit, her first question is which airport I will be using. When I say "Akron - Canton" I can hear the relief in her voice followed by her saying something like, "oh good." I get the same reaction from my father. It's an easier drive but more than that it's just so much easier to pick up or drop off someone at Akron -Canton than at the larger airports. read more

I love that this airport is so close to my house, it's small enough to easily maneuver, but big enough to have Delta flights. We've rented cars from various companies based out of the airport and have always had great service, the airport employees are always friendly and helpful, and it's always been a pleasure to fly in and out of here. My daughter attends college in North Canton and, as such, I have had a chance to use this airport three or four times over the span of time she has been there. This facility suits me very well. I love small airports as the ease-of-use factor cannot be beaten. In the case of this diminutive gem, it is not only easily navigable, it is also conveniently located with unusual features such as door-to-door parking service. Serving the Canton-Akron area, it also siphons off passengers from Hopkins who prefer the reduced hassle of CAK. I have been able to get many excellent flight deals from here the times I have used it. The airport hosts five airlines who fly to roughly fifteen or twenty destinations. The passenger load peaked in 2012 at just over 1.8M though in 2015 it had dropped to about 1.5M. That compares with Hopkins which serviced about 8M passengers in 2015. The location right off I-77 cannot be better placed with respect to convenience. The pick-up and drop off is hassle free and there is a decent amount of parking with diligent shuttle drivers who offer to take you directly to the terminal from your vehicle. The check-in area is well managed and the baggage claim also runs smoothly and is well kept. There is a nice little shop outside of security to get a coffee while waiting on an arriving passenger. The security is well managed and the TSA agents are, generally speaking, polite and friendly. Behind security there are a couple of shops including an Arby's. The waiting areas in the new part of the airport (up the escalator) are nicely done with an open spacious feeling. The areas in the older portion are a bit more cramped but well maintained. In general, I am quite happy to fly from this airport. It is easy to use and quite navigable. The staff are friendly, security is straightforward and the gates are easily accessible. The number of services are enough to make the wait for a flight less cumbersome. I far prefer CAK to the hassle you have to endure at most larger airports. read more

This is the best kept secret of Canton. If you don't have to check a bag you could literally walk in 30 minutes before your flight and you'll probably be ok(although I don't recommend that) The staff is amazing helpful and friendly, if you park the shuttle driver will follow you so that they can bring you to the terminal. Once you get through security there is an Arby's available, to include breakfast. After 11am they open the 2 bars where they have both Great Lakes and Royal Docks(a local community micro brewery) at pretty good prices. They are currently building on an expansion to the airport, while I'm excited about the potential new routes I truly hope that they maintain their small town airport feel after the expansion. The only issue I have and why I lowered it to 4 stars instead of 5 is the ground crew, many times I landed late at night only to find the ground crew not available. We had to wait sometimes up to 40 minutes waiting for the ground crew to marshal us in. One time the captain got on the loud speaker telling us the crew was driving to the airport and about 15 minutes out(I guess our arrival was a surprise) But other than the ground crew being available late at night I recommend this airport over Cleveland. read more

I had a flight with Breeze airlines and from the moment I stepped in to this airport it felt very peaceful. The staff is all very welcoming and friendly and the TSA line was short and moved quickly. There's a business lounge inside for quiet to get your work done, a kids play area, and a place for your pets to visit while at the airport. I also want to take a moment to mention how clean the whole airport was I was really impressed and while waiting for my flight I heard another person say how clean they thought it was as well. It wasn't super busy at all and just was very comfortable to be at. It's also very convenient to be at and the staff on the flight was very kind as well. 11/10 recommend! The only thing I will say is I paid almost $5 for a water but you are at an airport. My flight offered water so I would check first to see if you will receive a drink on your flight.
