I opened the conversation with BOE sales by telling them I wanted to be able to create a route on…read morethe new MFD and have the autopilot follow that route. I was assured the quoted solution would do that. I asked the same question when the tech came aboard to do the install and was told it would do that. When that function did not work, I called about the problem and they sent the tech back to assess. It was subsequently suggested that the new system was not compatible with the old autopilot and they steered me toward purchasing a new auto pilot. I was cheated and never even offered an apology. They took my money and never delivered on their promise. EDIT: "Please reach out and we can tell you how it's done." I have reached out and await BOE's response

BOE did an install for me that worked, but not quite up to what was expected. The system installed worked great, except on rare occasions. Fortunately, the system issue did not limit the use of the boat. The system simply was not working to expectations. BOE stood by their instal, attempting to figure out what caused the intermit error. BOE reviewed their instal, ran multiple scenarios to replicate the error, and engaged the manufacturer. Many companies would have argued the system was working and the interment error was caused by something outside their scope, and did not limit the use of the electronics. BOE did not take that approach. They replaced a key component, which was not cheap, at their expense to ensure the system met expectations. I really appreciate doing business with a company that wants to make things work right!

I am updating my review of Marine Max after having them perform service. They changed my lower gear…read morelube and did not utilize the manufacturer's products. In my case, they utilized a Mercury product on a Yamaha engine. I was very clear that I wanted to utilize OEM products, and in some cases they do use OEM products, but not for me with the gear lube. What really annoyed me is on the invoice they listed the Yamaha parts using the Yamaha name and did not mention Mercury for the Mercury parts (gear lube), I found that very disconcerting as I felt the manufacturer was being purposefully obfuscated. Boats and Outboards are crazy expensive and I only use the genuine manufacturer's parts period. It is not clear to me why they did not use the OEM specified gear lube and they have not returned my call seeking clarification.

Unfortunately, our experience with the service department has been considerably different. During the sale, we were repeatedly assured that MarineMax had one of the best teams of technicians and one of the largest service departments in the country, and that they would be able to quickly address the outstanding items on our delivery checklist. We ultimately chose to purchase our boat through MarineMax in large part because of that service commitment. We purchased the boat on July 17, 2026, and, unfortunately, we have yet to receive any meaningful updates or progress from the service department regarding the outstanding delivery checklist. We have called, emailed, and followed up multiple times, but have received very little communication or tangible progress. Given the number of dealers and the significant inventory currently available in the boating market, we had other options. We specifically chose MarineMax because we were told that the service department and level of support would set them apart. Unfortunately, that promise has not been reflected in our experience so far. Ultimately, we were forced to take the boat to another dealer and pay out of pocket to have the majority of the outstanding checklist items addressed simply so we could enjoy the boat this season. We sincerely hope MarineMax will follow through on the commitments made during the sale and work with us to resolve the remaining items during the off-season. We had a very positive experience with Mitch and the sales team, but the service experience to this point has been disappointing and has not lived up to the expectations that were set when we purchased the boat

Basically I had them remove the Electronic Integration Module (EIM) and replace it with an analog control system from FP Marine. The EIM was failing and there is no replacement but FP marine has a pre-wired system where all the dash controls are replaced. Along with winterization, this project and re-packing the rudders and spring commissioning everything was done with care, on time and within budget. I could not be happier as I have had other "professionals" in the past years do shoddy work, over budget and months past the work complete dates. Stephanie and Mike were a joy to work with and will be hired to do a few more upgrades soon. My wife is thrilled as we were planning on selling the boat in the fall and now she wants to have Seven Seas do more upgrades and keep her for a few more years. Thanks to Frank for doing such a great job with the FP project.
