I wish this venue could be planned better. No roof over the seated area, which would be nice keeping the weather in mind. We were drenched with the rain during Sting's concert, and of course l, the policy is "rain or shine". So, honestly, don't see how they are charging more for the actual seats as they aren't far from the grassed area, which is also uncovered, and the price difference in tickets is significant. The seats are small and crammed. Granted, we stood the whole time since it was a concert, but nonetheless. And of course, the parking.. non existent as part of the outdoor space, so it was a nightmare since it's downtown Richmond. If you plan to attend, find a lot in advance and book online if you can find any availability of what's close by. The really close lots can be purchased as part of the concert experience, but it will be an up charge, of course. Otherwise, 15+ min walk from other paid parking options. The highlight, of course, was the concert itself, the stage and the performance were just awesome and amazing, it was Sting!! How can it not be?? read more

Gorgeous venue! The food and drinks are priced high (which is standard for LiveNation venues tbh), but the selection is nice. There's not a bad seat in the house, and the sound is great everywhere! Friends and I attended the I Want my 80's Tour, featuring Rick Springfield, John Waite, Wang Chung and John Cafferty. The venue is really nice, with options for reserved seats, reserved tables, and grass seating. Pro: It's not a huge venue, so wherever you sit, you have a great view of the stage and the sound is great. Cons: If you're sitting in the grass section, you cannot bring your own chair and have to pay $15 to rent one of theirs (seems that should be included in the ticket price). I spent over $22 for a can of beer, which is pretty spendy. Overall, it's a great place to catch a show and they have a decent lineup for this inaugural summer. read more

I am so excited to have a venue close by that can get some decently big artists and not feel like sardines. I have gone to this venue twice! To see Simple plan and Alex Warren! I really love this venue. They had a few food trucks but lines were outrageously long. the merch line would move but it got confusing because the bathroom line is also right there. They have plenty of bathrooms and the line moves super fast but like I said above the lines keep getting confused with the bathroom and merch line. There's only one entrance that I've found. So you have to enter and leave in the same way. MY BIGGEST ADVICE IS IF YOU DON'T LIVE WALKING DISTANCE OR DOWNTOWN TO UBER IT'S WORTH NOT TRYING TO FIND PARKING AND MAKING IT HARD TO FIND A SPOT!!! read more

I'm going to start with my only issue. The only water they sold was Liquid Death in a can. It was $7 for a water. You can bring your own water, check the website for what you can bring. We came to see Dispatch on a Tuesday night. The doors opened at 5:00. First band went on around 6 second around 7:30 then dispatch around 9:00. They played until 10:00 then did an encore. There were a lot of people working. Everyone we talked to was helpful and nice to talk to. There were so many places to buy alcohol. Many different beers, seltzers, and even mixed drinks. They were right where you walk in, at the top of the lawn area, and along the back side. There were a few food options also. The website says they rotate the foods trucks throughout the season. Near the entrance there was a hot dog stand. At the top of the lawn was a food truck and an ice cram stand. Then along the back there were 2 more food trucks. Make sure you walk around to see everything there is to offer. I may be getting old, but the music is definitely loud. So there is no problem hearing the music and having a great time. When you sit on the lawn do sit behind one of the poles that reduces your visibility. read more

Hundreds of people wanted to rent chairs at Sting, and there were not enough available to cover the tickets sold. It was pouring rain so everyone stood in front of everyone with umbrellas. Good: Sound was great on the lawn. There there are two entrances but nobody knows about the second one... so find that one! There were PLENTY of bathrooms! Bad: Beer costs $18-$22 which is over the top absurd and frankly appalling. Also the prices are not listed anywhere, and literally the guy behind the counter would not tell me prices of things without me narrowing it down for him. I just wanted to know what everything cost and I couldn't get that intel. They want you not to know so you will just order it and have to buy it. Obnoxious. So that's a dealbreaker. They oversell the lawn seats and don't have enough rental chairs. There is not enough space for everyone to sit that bought a ticket unless everyone squishes together but since they don't ... if you get there late you're SOL. People were literally sitting in the bushes. Unacceptable. I did not read anywhere on their website where you could pre-order chairs... and I was all over that website: I just read you could rent them when you got there. But guess what, you can't. Because they are all gone. And you cannot bring your own. That's a dealbreaker. They have water stations with verbiage saying "saving plastic"... however if you want to use this station you must bring your own single use plastic water bottle UNOPENED. You cannot bring your own reusable bottle. So this is not actually saving any plastic but causing more. They also are not offering any cups to fill at their water stations People were smoking nearby I couldn't find them but I could definitely smell it. That's a dealbreaker. I bought an extremely overpriced pretzel with cheese and a sausage dog. They were mediocre at best, and the cheese sauce was cold. I was prompted to add a tip... no thank you. I think I'm too old for concerts ... I'm only 48, but I most likely won't go back. The cameras operators sucked for Alison Krauss. They often missed the person soloing and never zoomed in enough. It's pretty but completely disorganized and expensive. Went to Counting Crows and it was utter chaos trying to get in. There's one way in and out, so they need to be super efficient getting people through the entrance line. Very, very long lines to get in made for a long wait to get in. We bought lawn tickets thinking it would be fun, but it was oversold and didn't have enough room for everyone. And then beer was stupid expensive but there were plenty of bars. They need to rethink the lawn situation and try to improve it. They also need to look at their processes and find ways to improve the experience. read more

I've been to about 2000 concerts and this is the worst venue I've ever been to, big or small and everything in between. The ultra capitalistic nature of this place puts a damper on the energy of the crowd and therefore the energy the bands feed off to also get hype/the co created energy feedback loop where we just all get each other hype. Water should be a human right but apparently the people who own allianz amphitheater do not think so. They confiscated our empty reusable water bottles/yeti cups with lids upon entry. Then they refused to give us water at the bar forcing us to walk a half mile to get it from the other side of the venue. They only have one free water station at the front of the venue so this was the only option. One of the employees literally said, " I guess I'll risk it", in response to me, asking him for an empty cup for water, after they literally confiscated our own cups for water at the entrance. Before the show was even over the bar refused to even give us empty 12 oz. plastic cups so we could again, walk .5 of a mile to get it from the single solitary water station at the front of the venue, even though they had confiscated our own reusable cups at the entrance. That should be illegal, especially since they refuse to let us bring our own reusable cups for water. My friend almost died of dehydration because of this action. A 12-16 ounce cider was $24, without tip. About $29 with tip. There is only one bathroom and it is also a half mile hike to get to it every time you need to use it, all the way back up by the entrance. Only about a quarter of the space was filled after set break, for a band that sells out all the time. I can only imagine it's because this place is so inhospitable, rude and inhumane. The authorities will hear about this because this place is putting people in dangerous situations every single day. Never got the yeti cups back either and that's equal to about $150 they stole from us. It was about $20 to rent a chair. Gross and scammy. When a 12 pack of ciders cost $23 it's highway robbery to charge $24 for one of them. When a chair cost $8 what does it make you if you charge $20 to rent it for 3 hours? Gross. Insane. They better change or people will read the reviews and see these bands elsewhere. read more

Parking was absolutely nuts. Impossible to find a spot and we got here over 2 hours early. You then have to walk pretty far to the venue. The venue itself is pretty, but it is small. They were sold out of chairs about an hour and half before the show was supposed to start, but they did offer blankets for sale. Glad we got here as early as we did because the lawn filled up quickly! There were bar and vendor booths on the lawn separate from the main area which was nice. Hopefully they will work out the kinks, but I'm not sure how the parking situation can ever get better. Not sure how they will sustain shows for artists with very large followings. read more

Geez, people are being harsh in their reviews. Came on 7/26/25 and it was a great experience. For parking, you have to understand that this venue is in downtown Richmond City, there is no parking lot but that doesn't mean ample parking isn't available. Firstly - street parking in the city is FREE on the weekend and usually free after 6 (double check signs). We parked on 5th St half a mile from the venue and it was a quick 10 minute walk. Getting into the venue was easy. Read the FAQ's on the website - you can bring in an empty water bottle and they had ample filling stations. There was also a tent and misting area near the entrance. Since it is not a large venue, no matter what ticket you purchase you have a good view of the stage. We were in section 201 and the sound was great, no idea why other reviews indicate poor sound quality. I did have a friend who bought lawn seat tickets and stated it was not as great of an experience because of how crowded it was and people talking during the performance. For the seats, the rows are very roomy. Our only complaint is there is only one bathroom and it's on the side near the entrance, so if you are seated on the other side of the venue, take that into account. read more

The setting for this theater is great. Some old remnants of what it used to be - some sort of factory. If the show is on a sunny day, be sure to wear sunscreen! Bathrooms were decent. Even Dave Matthews made a comment and said "they should move that back gate and give you guys for space to move around. just looks odd from my perspective anyway..." enough said. Richmond had a chance but completely blew it. Not surprised. Just wait for Jiffy Lube or somewhere else to host the band you want to see. The show that I went to was sold out and had it not been, would have been easier to manage however Allianz really needs to take some time to lay some concrete and get better organized. It is sad because I've been to Live nation venues all over the country and all of them have much better walkways and access to facilities than Richmond. Parking is awful even with reserved spots. The line took over 45 minutes to get to the one entrance and probably over 1/2 a mile away. For a small venue, and $350 seats, you couldn't even see the stage because of the elevation on the seated section. Thankfully, the weather was lovely for a late August evening but the trains running behind and alongside the amphitheater (and blowing their whistles) were distracting and annoying! Staff was rude and dismissive - even when saying goodnight! Can't say we'll be returning! Tips....get to your seats at least 90 minutes early; ladies, leave your bags/blankets (they check and measure!) at home so you can get in faster; hit the bathroom early as you enter; and get a seat near an aisle. Our seats were at the end of the aisle but directly beside box seats that were on a sectioned off platform that we could not get out of! No warning when we got our tickets - of course! Ridiculous!! Very poor planning for this venue!! Whoever was handling the cameras for the large screens was HORRIBLE! Blurry video and 80% of the time they didn't show the featured player/singer(s). Only positive...Alison Krauss and Union Station w/ Jerry Douglas were flawless! read more

Not a fan. From parking to long lines to enter to ridiculous concessions pricing, this venue leaves a lot to be desired. Sitting in reserved seats is a tolerable experience, but the lawn is a chaotic fiasco. The venue rents limited HIGH BACK chairs and entitled patrons with chairs will plop themselves in front of you. There are four large poles that obstruct a considerable amount of lawn space compounding the problem. Oh, and patrons on the lawn talk throughout the performance, especially the opening band. I will NEVER sit on the lawn again and will only attend the venue for very special artists. read more

Went to see Boyz II Men and they gave a great performance. My problem was why did I pay a lot of money to sit in the third row only to have to stand up the whole show, never going there again. I did not like this place at all. The layout is all wrong. At capacity, good luck getting a spot in the bathroom. Its all the way at the entrance. You cant bring your own chair, $20 Water is called Liquid Death (thats just weird) Lawn is sliced up into first come first serve spots. Not your typical wild and free amphitheater lawn. Last night I went to see Boyz to Men and had the chance to visit Allianz Ampitheater for the first time. I loved the location on the waterfront and I enjoyed the city vibe with skyscrapers all around. However I found two major issues: 1) ONE entrance seemed ridiculous for a venue that holds 7,500 people. This led to a major bottleneck when we exited at the end of the show. 2) Food: there were only TWO vendors selling food in the entire place it seemed. One vendor sold overpriced hotdogs and food truck ( burgers, chicken tenders, fries, etc) had a tremendous line, was very overpriced and frankly could not handle the crowd. After waiting a bit if time to get to the front of the line, I learned that he ran out of several food items and napkins as well. My burger and fries cost $19! Next time I will definitely eat before I go. read more

The parking lot attendant (no show parking this is just the bus lot) was very rude and almost got physical over people walking thru an unmarked and open parking lot. We bought lawn seats and got there during the first act. There was no room on the lawn to sit because of all the rental chairs, which are huge. Extremely crowded and claustrophobic feeling throughout the venue. I think they oversold tickets. We left before the headliner because of this. Positive is they had employees walking around selling water/beer in the lawn, which was nice so you didn't have to wait in the bar lines. Hope they either get rid of the rental chairs or sell less lawn seats in the future. read more
