It was my first time to see a show here. Getting a ticket online was hassle free yet I think getting a ticket through the phone costs less. Check in was quick and I was assisted to my assigned seat for the show. The earlier you buy tickets, the better seats you get. My reservation was at 1:30PM for the meal before the show that started at 2PM. There's a minimum of $15 for food and drink per guest. Got the spinach pesto tortellini and added chicken. It was okay; I think it's overpriced. 20% service charge is automatic; service was not bad but neither is it excellent. I enjoyed Patti Austin's show. I might come back for other artists. read more

Had a great time here at the Prince tribute show. It was a wonderful show and it was different than I had expected. I had been worried it was going to be more like a concert/club and those days are past me. I was relieved that it was a restaurant with no bad seats. The show starts at 8 so I would get a dinner at 7 or 730. We got there at 6pm and got to visit for the time. The food was unexpected. It was very well done and well above the pub food we had expected. My burger was on nedium rare and a good size. The dip and sprouts were solid and the dip had a strong garlic taste which we loved. Great all around and I recommend giving this a shot. A bit sad I missed the Police cover band. read more

The Tin Pan is a dedicated listening venue, which is important to me. Unlike seeing bands in a bar with a crappy PA system, the Tin Pan puts focus on a good listening experience. Seating is assigned with ticket sales, so early tickets get the best seats. Most, not all, seats are very good. I wouldn't say there are any "bad" seats, but it depends on how the band sets up their gear whether you'll get a good view or not. I've seen a wide range of music there, all good, and some shows have been truly outstanding. The Small Glories, and the Storm Large shows were fantastic! Ticket prices are more expensive than seeing a bar band, and they expect you to buy dinner or a couple drinks. It's not a cheap night out, but it's much less expensive than a major touring act concert in the $150+ range. I will caution that the food is OK, not great. I've had better "pub food" in bars, but I go to the Tin Pan for the music. I would give 5 stars if the food was better. read more

First and last time at the Tin Pan. We paid $50 a piece for NYE tickets at the Tin Pan. The band (The Jangling Reinharts) were fantastic!! Tight band and amazing lead singer. The food and service, however- were awful. Our server was like a literal drill sergeant. Wanted us to order immediately (and kept asking) so she "could get ahead of the rush". (the whole room was going to be there for several hours and this was the only seating of the evening. NO need to rush us!) We watched her all evening stomping around looking super pissed off. Not one smile or pleasantry the whole time to us or any of the other guests she waited on. Quite off-putting. Meanwhile we saw servers in other areas being friendly and having fun while managing just fine. It was NYE after all! Try to lighten up a bit Sheesh! She was SOO intense. The food- Just yuck. And WAYYYY overpriced. (Limited menu offerings for NYE) The southwest chicken egg rolls were OK, as was our warm brownie sundae at the end (pretty hard to screw that up lol) - but the entrees were on par with Denny's quality. But at least at Denny's you get an actual plate! Not a beat up metal cafeteria tray- WTH??? Silverware was also old and beat up. Whiskey cream pasta was extremely overcooked, oily and bland AF. BBQ chicken pizza was cold BBQ sauce, cold chicken chunks, big chunks of raw onion, on a flatbread. We ate most of it as we were super hungry and on NYE you're just happy and grateful to be alive another year - not a time for complaints. And we certainly did not want to engage our server any more than necessary. read more

My buddy and I went to The Tin Pan for a concert last night and had a wonderful time! I reached out to venue staff prior to inquire about audio recording as the band has granted me access to do so. Kelli was very friendly and had everything all arranged when we arrived. Jesse was helpful when we checked in and our server, Bella was awesome!! Great parking, easy seating and fast food service. Great staff and friendly and attentive servers. Good mocktails. The show was wonderful! The food left much to be desired. They require a $15 minimum of food and drink per guest plus 20% tip which the tip is no problem, we tip that and more if the service is great but I had saw some other reviews on food so I was cautious. My hubby got chicken tenders and fries with Sweet Chili sauce and I got loaded fries. What you see is what was finished. The atmosphere was great and the vibe was nice. We'll definitely go back. The food was horrible, order pasta think they dumped a jar on some noodles that were not done and threw it in the microwave... the service - wait what service!!! A hidden gem in a Henrico strip mall! This was my first time at Tin Pan. My husband and I attended Jonathan Coulton last night and it was fantastic. Parking was super easy. The sound was good. The crowd was exceedingly nice and engaged. The food was surprisingly good, and the wait staff was very attentive. We were seated at a table with a very nice couple from Ashland. While we don't usually like "assigned" seating, it was a very pleasant experience. Even though we were towards the back of the venue, we still had a great view of the stage. Everyone was happy to be there and JoCo put in an amazing (as usual) show. Since we were part of the later seating, they had run out of the french dip. We both had the chicken sandwich and fries. Our food came out hot with generous helpings. While they require a $15 per person food purchase (with gratuity included) I thought the food and beverage selection were a great value. Saw our first show last night at the Tin Pan and we're pleasantly surprised Older venue, not in top shape, though it was clean ( older sometimes = dirty, not the case here) Bathrooms showed the most age. Only 2 stalls in the women's room, so expect a line. Smaller capacity ~ 200 so it's more of an intimate evening with the performers which is nice. Sound was good which is important for a music venue. Very loud if you are close to the stage. Took my fiance here for a date night when Glenn Jones was playing. I don't understand how the seating works. There should be an option to purchase seats when you buy the ticket. So I recently attended a deputy Dan concert. The ad I responded to mentioned dinner with different seatings. I assumed the price of $40 ticket included dinner, I usually see the band play for $10-20. When we got there the room was packed, I mean to capacity, or more. We were so crowded the wait staff had a hard time getting around. Crowded! Then we notice that the food was not included? I ordered a burger which took so long to get, and over cooked, I thought they were out chasing a cow! When I asked the waitress where our food was she could care less, she told me that she was hungry too?! So the food sucked the room was too full and there was no dance floor! Tin Pan has UPPED THEIR GAME! To be clear, they've ALWAYS been a GREAT place to catch a show! Ive seen several there in the past (such as Meshell Ndegocello, etc,) and the SOUND quality & seating options have CONSISTENTLY been EXCELLENT. Not a bad seat in the house, a GREAT 'hidden gem' spot for an intimate show IMO. The area where they've UPPED their game is in their FOOD! In my past visits (last year) the food was 'fine'...not bad really, it just wasn't a 'main attraction'. **HOWEVER**...RECENTLY, my siblings & I took my Ma there for Mothers Day, and EVERY DISH we got was DELICIOUS. I mean it, from the Brussel Sprout appetizer down to the grilled Salmon & Mashed potatoes...ALL of it was 100% ON POINT! I just got off of the phone with my Ma a minute ago and she's STILL raving about the food. She literally said "I thinks thats the BEST Salmon ive EVER had at ANY restaurant!" So...if you haven't been there in a while, id say, make a trip over to Tin Pan and give it another go...and heck, if you ask me, you DONT even have to wait until there's a Show going on because, in my opinion, that Salmon was INDEED good enough to qualify as a 'Main Attraction' all by itself! First of all, I really like Tin Pan's concept for a listening venue with its wonderful location, but I was disappointed with our recent experience. The menu for the show we attended was not the menu on their website. Apparently, when they have a smaller turnout, they offer an abbreviated menu which did not have the items we wanted to order. The Tin Pan website did not warn of of this possibility nor were we emailed a notice prior to the show. This is not good customer service. One other complaint - the room was too cold. I was glad I wore jeans, a long-sleeve top and a puffy vest, but I was still cold. read more

I've lived in Richmond all my life and never heard of this hidden gem until I became an adult. I went for my birthday and came to hear a live band. The place is know to have great live music & they offer food and drinks. The music & sound was amazing and I sat right beside the stage and could hear & still interact with my friends. The only thing I had were the fries and the people that know me know I love some fries. The fries tastes amazing even though they were not that hot so I can only imagine how good they would be hot. Our serve was on point. It was busy but she didn't make us wait long from the time we sat down until the time we left. The only reason I'm giving it a 3 is because I didn't like that I had to order food & a drink. I like having that be my option but other than that, I would definitely say check them out especially if you are into live entertainment. read more

We have been to the Tin Pan several times but this is my first review. The acts we have seen have all been incredible. Last night we saw a Christmas with Elvis show featuring Matt Lewis. Another great performance. The venue is clean, the food was good. Unfortunately I didn't take any photos of our food. We had the French dip, chicken sandwich, and a couple salads. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The service was good and the staff was friendly. My only complaint is that I would like to choose my seat when I buy my tickets. It seems like people "in the know" request what they want and less frequent attendees get stuck at some less desirable seats. No real bad seats but definitely some are better. Looking forward to seeing more acts at this venue. Prices are reasonable and parking is easy and safe. read more

I'm giving this place four stars because I really like the intimacy and the concept of a dinner theatre. It's important to note you will most likely be seated at the same table as strangers, or your table will be very close to other tables. I had a really memorable experience here, but mostly with the music. I didn't feel like the food was anything special, my tortellini was tortellini. I also didn't love the inside decor it feels a little grimy. The seats got a little uncomfortable after awhile. The server seemed annoyed and I felt rushed/ he paid a little too much attention to us. We went to see Tuba Skinny. They were great! Very talented artists and we would definitely see them again. The Tin Pan it's self could use a little bit of a facelift. We had a 6pm reservation for two. If you have the option go with the 7:30 since the performance doesn't start till 8. If you're a larger party go at 6 since you'll be able to fill the space in-between dinner and the show better. We had nachos to share. It's a great app to share. My only critique would be to add more cheese! It's so disappointing to get a big plate of nachos with not enough cheese. We ended up skipping getting a main entree and got the chocolate brownie dessert. It was delicious! I would have preferred the brownie come out hot but it was very tasty. Super cool vibe with great live music. Tickets are required in advance (most shows sell out) and seat assignments are based on the date/time tickets are purchased. Seating reservations for coming in are split up (6:30 and 7:00) prior to 8 pm performances to allow for easier check in and manageable demand on the serving staff. You will be seated with others at your table (regular and pub height tables) depending on the size of your group. There is also bar seating. There is plenty of room at your seat but you might be uncomfortable if you do not like sitting with people you don't know. The wait staff is outstanding and the menu offers a diverse choices of appetizers, entrees, desserts, and drinks. The decor includes posters of past performers and bands. We came to see the band, The English Channel. Great show with optimal acoustics in the restaurant. The restrooms are small (2 stalls) but clean. I'll definitely be back for another show! read more

It's been a while since my last visit to the Tin Pan. I like that they require a Covid vaccination and ID to enter but I still maintained a mask until seated. We ordered the mozzarella sticks to start which were not and crispy with a tasty sauce. Then we had the BBQ sandwich. Smaller than I remember, the pork was tender but was cooked then slathered with sauce instead of seasoned well. But it was still okay. The fries, while tasty still lack a little crunch. The artist, Dee Lucas, put on a very nice show. My complaint. I get that it's your birthday and you wish to have a good time with your friends. Please remember that others are ticket purchasing guest as well and be respectful of their desire to hear the music. I was a little disappointed that staff didn't say something. They were not vulgar, just loud and obnoxiously cheering the artist and during a very artistic moment in a song, too!! I'm glad you liked the music, shut up and listen. That is all. Had staff even lightly addressed this, I would rate a 5. This was not the case in my past visits, but we did not have these obnoxious guest, either. Was invited by my boyfriend to a jazz concert with Ellis Marsalis, Jae Sinnett & Terry Burrell on 10/7/19 at the Tin Pan and so glad my schedule allowed me to come. Super cute little space! We ordered the chicken nachos for an appetizer and they were so good that we ordered another round. Wow! So much flavor. They're topped with chicken, queso, sour cream, black beans, and this mango pico de gallo...WHEW! So good!!! I know I'll eventually be craving this soon. I do wish we had better seating but the show was amazing. It was a very intimate feel. I ordered the chicken sandwich special and it was also very delicious.
