June of last year we got carvestone on our patio. This year I started to see delamination, so I immediately called Allied Outdoor Solutions. For two weeks I did not hear back. I called again. A week later Don came to look at the problem. He was very sweet, took notes of my primary concern and made notes of other areas of concern. A month goes by and I have not heard back. I called again, spoke to a representative. She took down my message and nothing. I called again and spoke to George who said he would contact Don and get back to me. I keep getting the run around. I wanted to update my previous review. Evidently, the local office I dealt with kicked up my situation to their corporate in Houston. The customer service I received from Bradley at AOS corporate was top notch! Within a week, Bradley contacted me several times to advise me of the status of our cancellation request. He coordinated the release of our current permit with the city and I just now received a check for our entire downpayment I know I was harsh in my review of the company in my previous post, but it was what it was. Update: After my original review, Chad with Allied contacted me regarding my concerns (I think it is also important to note he acknowledged my review). Initially he seemed a little apprehensive to help me out any further but agreed to send Carlos (project manager) with a different sub other can Epic Pavers. Carlos came out with Javier (original guy from Epic but now with different company) and after testing, acknowledged that half of my porch did not have any pitch to it and that the drains they put in were not a good idea (this was not Carlos or Javiers idea originally, this was Garrett with allied and another Epic rep). Javier recommended removing all the pavers, raising the backside(closest to house) up an inch and removing the drains. I was in full support of this plan because finally it will actually have a pitch to it and we could get rid of the ugly drains. The crew came out very quick (I think it was Paver Doctors or something like that) and they did a great job. After the first few rains, there doesn't appear to be any puddling of water which I'm told will help prevent the polymer sand from cracking apart. I increased my review to a 3 because Carlos and Javier came through with what I was hoping to get and what seemed to be the best option. I don't feel it should be any higher since the headache I've had with them the last year and a half. However, Carlos and Javier saved the 1 star review from staying where it was at. read more

Appointment with David Rush today. arrived late, but did call to say he would be late. Met them on the patio. "Do you have any questions?" "Since I know nothing about concrete, I really don't know how to ask intelligent questions regard the project." He threw out several possible questions, one of which was "How long have you been in business?" "Ok, how long have you been in business?" "I think a better way to ask that question..." "So you're going to sit here and tell me how to think? This conversation is over. Why don't you two guys leave?" I didn't even allow him to finish the sentence. David came across as arrogant and in my opinion does not know how to interact with customers. I have never had a salesman present himself in that manner. I merely wanted to replace the patio. Get some measurements and give me an estimate. When I asked them to leave, he commented, "It sounds like our company may not be a good fit for you." Just want to help my neighbors out and give them fair warning about a company NOT to use. We used Allied Outdoor Solutions for a complete backyard renovation (pool decking, drainage, coping, turf, etc). We had our initial consultation in Nov and signed all contracts in Dec. They began in Feb and just completed. Project management was deplorable. In fact, I am confident the poor quality of the project manager was the source of most of the issue. The lights in our pool don't work where they did before. We didn't get use of our pool for the whole summer with the exception of the last 3 weeks. Worst company I have ever done business with. Very expensive and very poor workmanship. Had them install new concrete driveway. It cracked after two weeks. After arguing with them they came back and jackhammered it all back out again. The worst concrete work I had ever seen. Rebar and expansion joints weren't installed correctly. The whole thing was a mess. The concrete itself looked bad. They put a new driveway in again and that one developed a 9 foot crack after about a year. They gave me no discount either for all the inconvenience and mess. I had also talked with my neighbor that just had a new driveway put in by a another company. His driveway cost less than half of what mine did. I would recommend to save yourself the time, mess, and money, and don't hire this company if you need any work done. read more

(that's extra!)then today work began, their crew fellow said 30ft width, I was puzzled!? I said agreement was 20ft×30ft. N I thought! Wow! How sweet they're goin to offer me 30×30?!. I said, let's do 22ft ×30. Well surprisingly there was communication default. They emailed extra $756.00 I had already explained to them, financially its rough right now and $10,000.00 is alot of money. Allied solutions should have called me and clarify. We added a very large patio/outdoor kitchen to the back of our house. We interviewed several companies. And though Allied was not the least expensive, they were worth every extra penny we paid! Carlos was very attentive and responsive to any issue we had. We found him to be very honest and thorough. I would use this company again simply because I trust Carlos, but let's talk about the craftsmanship. IT IS EXEMPLARY! I have friends that are craftsmen and they were extremely impressed with the level of quality and attention to detail. If you've ever done any major home renovation, you know that there will always be unavoidable "hiccups". What matters is not the source of the issue, but how it is handled. And I can say that we were very happy with how Carlos handled all of our concerns. In closing, you get what you pay for and I am glad that we chose Allied to for this project! Unfortunate that google does not let you give negative ratings. Run ( do not walk) away from this company as fast as you can. It was a nightmare to deal with. I saw a very colorful Ad in homemag and contacted this company to build a water cascade for my pool. Sales guy was all chatty and painted a good picture. We wanted to do two projects with them (water cascade for our pool and carvestone for pool deck and our patio). Luckily we just signed up for water cascade as we want to see the quality and timeliness of this company before signing up for a bigger carvestone project. Things were OK at first, their office scheduled a time with their project manager to come and take measurements. First red flag was project manager calls 10 minutes before he is supposed to show up and tells that he cannot meet at this time and pushes the meting by several hours. we thought that's OK, everyone has their schedules messed up at some point of time. We met, he walked around, took some measurements and said that their office will schedule the project. fast forward to 5/29/19, as I was getting ready to leave for work, I see a guy in my backyard near the pool ( I thought some one is trying to break into my home). I went out and asked him who he was. he said he is from AOS and here to do the water cascade project. I told him no one informed me and emailed the project manager. he replies back saying that they had some time between projects and they sent them here. Complete disregard for people's time and schedules. No one even bothered to call me. My daughters graduation party was coming and asked him how long will it take to finish it. He said it will be done the same day and they will clean up everything and go. The sales guy told me that they will cover up the pool with tarp so that debris doesn't get in. These guys covered nothing. They were not even sure where to build the water cascade. They asked me where to build it. I showed them. I had to take permission from work to work from home that day. They completed the work (not sure of the quality though as it was raining for most part of the day). they did the job between rain breaks. They made a mess of the pool. They said pool cleaners will come next day (5/30). I had to work from home another day and wait for cleaners to come. No one even showed up. I emailed the project manager and the only answer I got was SORRY. I told him we have graduation party on 5/31/19 and need a clean pool. He didn't even bother to reply. I started cleaning the pool myself and spent 4 hours to clean the pool by about 50%. Project manager replies in the night and says that cleaning crew will be coming tomorrow (5/31/19). I stopped my cleaning effort. 5/31/19, PM sends another email that cleaning crew will not be coming until 6/1. he expects to have our graduation party with pool looking like cesspool. They have no regard for people's schedules or times. They show up when they want. Never dealt with a such horrible company in my life who has complete dis-regard for their customer's schedules read more

Initial impression was great. The sales rep Brent and I agreed that we will do an extension of the patio with foundation drip reroute, carvestone overlay(will talk about this "special" overlay later on in this review) on the existing patio and the new patio to make it look like one continuous floor, a pergola with cover and a kitchen, with no appliances, just masonry (the plumbing of sewage, h/c water and gas to the site of the kitchen was already complete when the house was built, so NO underground plumbing needed), they would have to run the water to the sink and gas to the grills. Everything was signed for a total of 20,500. The project manager, Carlos, came out to take more precise measurements, extremely professional, however this is where my issues started. After he was done taking measurements, and leaves I get a call from him stating that we will need to add more concrete since the sales rep made a mistake. So tried to add 6000 dollars to my existing quote. I cancelled the contract and walked away. Right away the sales rep called me and we talked it down to an additional 1000. For full disclosure, I did add steps, 3 additional electrical needs to the project, and a pot filler for the kitchen. So everything was agreed on for 21,500. The workers (most likely sub-contractors) came out and did the concrete, and did an awesome job. A few days later, they came out and started working on the pergola. As they are working on the pergola, my sales rep calls me. He states I have some bad news, we wont be able to do the kitchen for the quoted price of 5000 dollars. Immediately I told the carpenters working on the pergola to stop working. I got a call from their director of project management right away. He says he wants to have a face to face meeting with me. I reluctantly agreed and he came to my house. He says, sorry but we cannot do the kitchen for the price we have agreed upon. I said we have a signed and agreed upon contract and you cannot break it. He said I am sorry but we cannot do the kitchen for what we quoted you. He continues to say, that if this was any other project, this would cost upwards of 32000 dollars. I told him, I dont believe you, essentially calling him out on his lie, I am assuming the fact that I caught him on his lie angered him, all of a sudden the director (Chad, or at least that is what he said his name was) slams my table with his hands. I mean he had the nerve to come into my house for the first time and slam my table that I paid for with my hard earned money and disrespect me. This company broke the contract that we had signed and agreed upon, and thought that I would bend to their will since I was so excited about the project. This company put my family through unneeded stress and has the nerve to come into my house and disrespect me. In all honesty stay away from this company. If you have worked hard for the money you are spending on your project and want to be treated properly, stay away from this company!! The rating this company has of 3.4 is incorrect, it should be a 1. They claim to have been in this industry for 30 plus years, yet they cannot estimate a site properly, they cannot estimate the cost of a kitchen properly and have disrespectful employees (Director of Project Management, Chad) that treat customers like trash. Mind you, we revised the contract 2 times before we agreed upon the 21,500 dollar price tag. Then once the project is in full swing they give me a call and say we cannot do the kitchen for 5000 dollars. They chalked it up to a mistake the sales rep did. Come on, the sales rep is not the one who is financing this operation, it's upper management. So, upper management did not see the quote for the kitchen, just masonry mind you, for 5000 dollars during the 2 times we revised the contract?! Just stay away from this company. They also have another name that comes up in google searches, its called Lonestar Concrete. It's the same company, IMO, I would stay away from this company as well. The 30 years of experience is probably from the fact that the main company was started in Houston, TX some 30 years ago. As mentioned earlier, the carvestone overlay, they say is special is really not special. The makers of this product have given Allied Out Door Solutions, the exclusive right to use that brand name. So no other contractors can use that name. So if you search for carvestone only this company comes up. There are other companies that give similar solutions, such as austin stone, lime coat etc. So don't fall into their sales pitch of exclusivity. Bottom line, do not do business with this company. Take your hard earned money to some other respectful company. read more

We met with Brent Hare, Project Consultant, of AOS who talked to us, and listened to us, and came up with a proposal. Brent was great to work with. Stephen White, Senior Project Manager, was assigned to supervise our project of covering our patio. Stephen carefully told us of another possibility using travertine pavers, a definite upgrade but also a much better choice for us. I say "carefully" because Stephen honestly told us about the pavers and said he "didn't like to spend other people's money." We were very happy with the crews that actually did the work and Stephen was there to check their work and make sure we were satisfied. The patio looks great and we're very happy with the staff of Allied Outdoor Solutions. Not only would we recommend them to others...we already have. read more

I had Allied redo 2 separate driveways at my house. I needed the old driveway removed, culverts placed and new concrete placed. Although they did not get it correct the first time, Carlos came out and without any excuses or pushback said: it's our fault, we did not do what you needed. They came back out and removed the fresh concrete, lowered the culverts, and poured concrete a second time. Thanks to Carlos I have just what I need and there was no extra charge for their mistake. Hard to find that kind of service in today's world. I will plan on calling them for my next outdoor project. read more

We had numerous bids and decided to go with Allied because David design ideas were great he was willing to think outside the box and give us ideas vs us having to think of the project. He really tailored it to what our needs were. We have a really difficult/strict HOA and they handled all of that for us. When it came time for our project we were assigned Chris Wise. He went above and beyond to communicate and coordinate all aspects of the project. They pretty much finished it in 2 weeks. Also they fixed any issues we had with the project and took care of those right away. Even at our final walk thru, he let us be as picky as possible and was willing to make it all perfect for us. We hired Allied Outdoor Solutions to repair our outdoor fireplace and remove an existing flagstone patio. Both had been poorly built by a different company who apparently had no clue how to build a fireplace. They were falling apart. Our visit with Don Norris, project consultant, Carlos Flores, project manager and Jesse the masonry master put us at ease that this project would be done correctly. They were all so polite and easy to work with. All were extremely knowledgeable about the work needed. Carlos kept me updated with every step of the work and is such a pleasant person to work with. We needed the job completed by Memorial Day. The weather continued to work its havoc but Carlos worked his magic and the job was finished on time! Watching the crew start to work each day was a pleasant surprise. They were upbeat and worked so well together. You could tell they had been doing this for a while now and enjoyed working together. They stayed busy and professional. No sitting around on phones and just watching one person do all the work. They laughed and enjoyed their work. You could tell they wanted the job done correct! A complete tear down of the fireplace was needed. We now have a properly built one that they made sure it would look just like the original we had designed. The patio was removed and concrete poured so quickly. Job well done. We had Carvestone applied to the patio and decking around our pool. Very pleased with the final look of the project. DO NOT USE THIS FIRM! We had planned to have AOS's carve stone product applied to our patio. Unfortunately, a family issue came up and we had to cancel the project. We have now contacted Chad Turner at AOS FOUR times to refund the deposit and he has not. Each time, he has assured me he'll make the refund, but after over a month of phone calls, AOS has not refunded our money. AOS's actions look more like a company that is a scam outfit (or unable to make payroll), instead of one committed to good customer service. Fortunately, we charged the deposit, and our credit card company has stopped payment on the charge. Beware! Allied Outdoor Solutions has very questionable business practices! read more

I wanted to give a big shout out to Gary, Carlos, Pablo, Ezekiel, & Emerson for the amazing job they did on our patio project. Our project included replacing an old wooden deck with concrete, extending the concrete around the pool, and installing french drains to pull all the water off the side of the house. Prior to consulting Allied, we had already spoken to other local companies. We were getting really frustrated at the lack of information and comprehensive breakdown for the project that they were giving. Then we met Gary with Allied. Not only is he is friendly, personable, and very knowledgable- he did not make us feel pressured at all. He had an ipad full of previous jobs with before/afters, and was able to measure the space and give us a written estimate (something the other companies refused to do). We were so impressed. We knew exactly what we wanted and knew Allied was the right company for us. Gary then introduced us to Carlos who led our project. Carlos helped us visualize the project and provided solutions that not only fit our design but maximized our space. They kept us up to date on everything. However, our project was delayed by a month due to the month long rain. Despite the delay (our project space could not dry fast enough to do work before next rain storm came), Carlos kept us up to date. When the weather gave us a break, Carlos had his team out working hard to get us to the next step. Not only did the crew clean up after themselves, they did a wonderful job. Next, came the carvestone. Pablo was our carvestone rep and really helped us visualize the space. He kept us up to date on changes with arrival times and kept us informed. His crew (Ezekiel and Emerson) were so incredible to watch as they laid the carvestone! They were attentive to detail, were patient as we asked to see a few variations, and did incredible work! We can not speak more highly of this company, the level of professionalism, and high level of communication they offer their customers. Great integrity and not a single complaint. read more

I used AOS in 2017 to put carve stone in my outside front entranceway in Flower Mound, TX. They did an AWESOME job and I have received so many compliments! I had the same crew come back in 2018 and put carve stone on my backyard patio. Again, AWESOME job! I love it. Hired to do our pool deck (carvestone) and to replaster our pool. While the workmanship is very good, the lead managers on each portion of our project were condescending, patronizing and unable to communicate in a timely manner. We were told multiple things about when our project would start, only to have crews show up unannounced and start to demolish our yard. We were told we were responsible for our pool lights ($1000 each) only to have them (again unannounced) show up and remove the lights from the pool and leave out for two weeks exposed to the elements. When we inquired about the damage possibly being done by the lights we were told to calm down. Curtis, sales guy, was the only person we were able to talk to without getting a snarky or patronizing response. Multiple calls to the plaster manager Brad went unanswered and Garret our point person for the pool project had very little knowledge about the process. Overall I would say that while the deck and pool look better (not fabulous) I would not recommend doing business with Allied. Their inability to communicate, their lack of respect for their customers and their customers' property as well as the frustration involved in just getting a straight answer cast a negative light on the whole project. It would behoove them to teach their field managers/project managers appropriate communication techniques. I hope that when people come into my work I don't make them feel stupid and insignificant as was the case multiple times with Allied. read more

I don't even know where to begin... but I guess I will start with, I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone. We had planned to use Allied to expand our current patio and cover with carvestone, as well as add a pergola. We signed the contract back in July after meeting with several different companies, reading tons of reviews online, and checking with the BBB. We were told that they were booked out until November, and they would be in touch. Between July and November, we had our project consultant changed 3 times. Each time, it was as if we were starting over from scratch. There was either no communication or a complete miscommunication from one person to the next. Every time we were assigned a new project consultant, somehow our project had changed and/or grown in size and the price would need to be adjusted. When it came time to begin the project, they no showed several times. When they finally showed up to pour the slab, it was poured 2 feet shorter than what was agreed upon on the contract and it was also a completely different shape. Upon contacting the company and speaking with multiple different people, they refused to fix it or replace it. We were also accused of lying due to the concrete crew stating that we have given approval prior to it being poured. That is simply not the case. My husband was at work and I work night shift, therefore, I was asleep. No one saw it until it was done and they had left. We ended up canceling the rest of job, and after going up the chain of command, were eventually given a discount on what was already done. Now we are stuck with an unfinished project that is not what we wanted, and we are also missing a section of grass that they had torn out alongside the slab. It was an absolutely horrible experience, especially being first time homeowners. Our only hope is that no one else will have to go through what we went through. read more

My husband and I called Allied Outdoor Solutions for a quote on extending our patio. Brent came out and spoke with my husband about the extension and when my husband came in the house he'd changed from a concrete extension to a patio cover with patio extension after looking at the brochures! They were ready and eager to get to work and even took care of the paperwork for our HOA, which was a nightmare in itself but Brent stayed the course and got our approval from the HOA! Stephen our project go to person (not his job title) kept us abreast of everything that was going on and always asked were we satisfied. The team that completed our concrete extension as well as the pergola worked fast and efficiently. We were amazed at how quickly they were done, it was also a plus that they cleaned up after themselves every day. We are more than satisfied with our patio and I can't wait to decorate it and entertain with our friends...after Covid of course! In the meantime my family and I will enjoy it. We had Allied Outdoor Solutions out to our home to get an estimate on a brick patio. They spent about 45 mins measuring, going over options, and showing us other projects they had finished. We were given a written quote of $4,000 and told the offer was good until the end of the week. We attempted to contact the company several times to provide a counter offer to them, but they would not respond to email, text, or phone calls. As the week drew closer to the end, they finally got back with us and stated the estimate was now $6,200, over 50% of the original signed quote. I called and complained and they stated they wouldn't honor their original offer. With plenty of other companies out there, I suggest you take your money elsewhere. read more

We used Allied to redo our patio in the backyard. They did the demolition of a gravel area and put in sod. Then they tore up the greatly damaged stone patio and installed pavers. We had several quotes on the work and Allied had a reasonable price and demonstrated quite a bit of knowledge on how to correctly install pavers. They did a wonderful job and the patio looked great! Unfortunately, within a year and a half, there were significant cracks that required repair. The great part is that pavers are easy to repair. In addition, Allied had a two year warranty, so they did the repair work at no cost to me. The patio looks great again. They also had some recommendations on what to do to prevent as much cracking the second time. The only reason I'd give them a four instead of a five is because there was occasionally a misunderstanding in terms of either scheduling or a minor detail of the work plan. But we always worked it out. I would use them again. In fact, they are doing some additional quotes for me now for more pavers and retaining walls in the front and side of the house. read more

In the fall of 2017 we had Allied Outdoor solutions update our aging pool and patio decking. We were so pleased with Chad Turner and his guys! The pool and deck look amazing. The fall of 2018 and spring of 2019 were really wet and we had some settling of the deck along the back side of our pool. It was a mess. I called Allied Outdoor to come and take a look and make good on their warranty. Stephen White came out and took a look and agreed we needed to have repairs done. He and his crew took care of all the needed repairs. I'm pretty picky, so had them come out several times until it was all just as I expected it to be. They were easy to work with and made sure that all the work was done to my satisfaction. I could not be more pleased and would definitely use this company again! Allied recently completed a Travertine paver patio and drainage project for my wife and me. We got bids from several companies and we felt Allied was the best choice for our project. Don, the salesperson, and Chris, the project manager were very helpful in making decisions about our project. They were both very clear with us about costs, scheduling, and options. The work crews showed up when scheduled and completed their work in the time they said they would. Javier's crew that did the patio work did an especially nice job. They kept the site clean throughout the project and they went above and beyond when they did a couple of improvements on the original plan (at no extra cost) just because it was the right way to do things. The crew that did the drainage project also adapted the plan a bit for a better result. We are currently waiting on a nice big rain so we can see the drainage in action! Thanks Allied. read more

we had some beds removed around the pool and then carvestone laid on the existing patio, pool decking and the new concrete. we are happy w/ the look and feel of the product. one complaint- i thought that i had paid for everything up front, but was hit w/ another bill for additional work- i thought that everything was included in the initial bill as we had discussed the "additional drainage" but apparently it wasn't in the bill. in the end, i paid it to be done w/ it and keep the wheels moving... the timeline was a little long, but that was explained and they did stay on top of it. guys i worked with were enjoyable and easy to talk to. read more

To add to my experience the company refused to refund all or part of my deposit, stating that they had spent more than my deposit on the partial tear out they did. Let me explain the tear out which involved removing tiles and grinding down the surface ready for the carvestone. Day 1 :2 people came ,one with a hammer and chisel the other to carry away debris. No Luck the tiles would not budge .Day 2: the guys came back with a machine but that would not work either Day 3: the guys came back with a jack hammer with a very small drill head and eventually removed the tiles (with a wider bit they could have done it in half the time) Hence their high cost no fault of mine I am left with a torn apart patio and they could give me NO date to finish the job. They said at least 2 months or more before I could be scheduled. I would be OK if there was a week or two as I understand delays due to bad weather but to come and demo and leave me with a mess for the summer is why I cancelled the contract and do not recommend them read more

Just received a call from their office and they are cancelling my contract for work to be done. Seems the sales person made a mistake when he come out, looked at the project and quoted us a price and they felt they just could not absorb the additional cost for the project that we were quoted and signed the contract for, so I was offered a $50 gift card (which I declined) and we parted ways.
