After fourteen years of my front door facing the harsh Dallas weather, I decided to call Sturdy Doors Dallas and am I glad I did! Eddie did a fantastic job on refinishing the door and its surrounding door frame. He also took off and painted the wrought iron bars over the door's window. With the door and frame, he carefully sanded it down to the bare wood so the stain would be even. He took care in masking around parts not to be sprayed; spraying the selected stain and clear polyurethane coatings; and finally, cleaning up afterwards. It all looks so good now--like new! We wanted our old door to be sanded down and refinished with marine grade/good varnish, as well as replacing the bottom sweep of our door (where we could see light coming through). The quote process and communication/scheduling process were seamless. Sam, the technician, was prompt, professional and did an amazing job. They sealed up our front door with a tarp while Sam worked on our front door in the front yard. The job was completed in the time estimated. The door was re-installed balanced and looking beautiful! The tech that did the work on our door complained half way through the project that he wants to charge 40% more than the company management quoted me. I turned him down. Fast forward nine months and as the picture shows the finish is delaminating from the wood. I contacted the company in July and they refuse to stand by the poor work their tech did using the one year warranty excuse even though we were only a few weeks past the one year mark and they know their guy provided poor work.. They offered me a re-surfacing fix as long as I paid for it. Most companies that see their people provided substandard work would make it right. This company has no intention of trying to retain me as a customer. read more

This company has taken an ad out in Home Concepts magazine, which is a magazine of all sorts of advertisements. I think a good assumption of someone taking an ad out is that they would like to see their business production increase. When I called the first time, I assume it was an answering service that took my information, and I was told someone would call me back. After hearing from no one, I called a week later and I was told the reason no one called was because they've been "getting a lot of calls". Am I missing something? I thought that was the purpose of the ad! If you can't handle the influx of calls, then why put out an ad? Certainly don't tell someone that's why you didn't call them back! Nevertheless, I explained my reason for calling, which was to get an estimate. The young lady asked me to send a description of the information to a particular phone number. After attempting to send the information, it turns out it's not a good number to send such information. When I called back 2 minutes later, to see if there is another way to send the info, no one answered. This company is obviously not prepared for an increase in workflow. Poor customer service is a window into a company's business practices and character. Be warned and proceed with them with your eyes wide open. read more
