Leading up to the actual move, head mover Jack came to asses and take measurements to be sure that they had the right equipment and everything. Jack was thorough, smart, and very easy to chat with. On the day of, Jack and his team were awesome. We had a complicated job with some really huge items, and two different delivery locations, and Jack didn't flinch. He even texted me updates throughout the day so that I was clear on timing and aligning with my staff. Thanks Four guys!

WRONG: I had to make an inventory of things I wanted moved. I didn't realize that if an item wasn't listed on the inventory they wouldn't take it. I had to have them come back for an estimated additional $1300-$1600 dollars. They were supposed to be here around noon. At 12:40 I called and was told they had a 2 hour window. I had had to make arrangements with friends based on 4 Guys arriving around 12. As I don't drive I needed to have a ride to the new address. My ride couldn't do the later time so I had to scramble to find another. It's now 2:45 and no truck. When I called a got a very calm person who began to explain why they were late. I told him I don't want explanations or excuses so he offered to call the whole thing off. I was almost speechless as I'm under a deadline. Would not recommend them: not reliable.

The front office worked with me to accommodate our moving date which was great and said someone would come out to do an estimate, gave me a general time frame for their arrival, and said they would call when they were on their way. As a mom with a 9 month old who has a nap schedule and a dog who barks at everyone who walks past our door, this is extremely important to me. The guy arrived without calling and I had to rush to get the dog out on his lead before he woke up my daughter. He took about 15 minutes to do the estimate, said we'd need one truck with 3 guys and overshot on the time which I expected so no biggie there. Moving day arrives; the crew had loaded maybe 3 rooms (out of 8) and kept saying they were going to need another truck multiple times to the point where my husband and I said screw it, take only the large furniture and heavy boxes and we'll move the rest on our own. 2 of the workers busted their butts while one sort of just organized the truck and then one of the guys busting his butt and the organizer bickered most of the afternoon. The third guy even came and apologized to me and my husband for having to listen to it! A chandelier was broken during the process and no offer from the company to repay us for us or anything. Then the icing on the cake was the foreman did our bill, I had a debit card and he said I had to call the office to do it and I did, at 330 in the afternoon, and the lady who does the payments had left for the day! What?! So in all the craziness of moving I couldn't remember where I had our checkbook and thought I left it at the old house. The office said I could drop it off by 5pm and the foreman said no worries we'll go to the old house with you and we'll bring the check, no extra charge for the time. Only halfway there I realized where it was and had to just stop at the bank and withdraw cash. My husband was in a separate vehicle and got there before me and told them that I had to make a stop. When I got to the old house (which was 20 minutes after my husband and I spoke so he had communicated with them that I had to stop) the foreman was on the phone asking if he should run the clock. Why did you offer to do it at no cost then try to call and ask your boss if you should run the clock? Makes no sense. All in all, it wasn't an awful experience but not worth 5 stars to me and I likely wouldn't recommend them to friends or family.

U Pack / ABF did not bring the appropriate equipment (a forklift) for drop off of a pod on 08/12/22. I provided (per clause 7 in the contract) an appropriate space for the pod -- a space to park the truck and a paved area sufficient for the pod itself. ABF/UPack refused to retrieve a forklift from the neighboring town for an additional $500 cost to them. The company did NOT offer viable alternatives. The alternatives were: 1) I could find another space for the pod to be parked (ex. permitted street parking: not feasible in the circumstance), 2) I could delay the pod arrival to Monday, 08/15/22, or 3) I could load the pod over the weekend at the moving facility (I would not have reserved a pod if I knew I'd also need to reserve a moving truck). I reluctantly opted to delay the pod's arrival to Monday, as this was the only feasible option -- including working with another company given the total lack of notice ahead of time regarding the forklift situation & time sensitive nature of the move. No discount was offered for the extreme inconvenience. I was also hung up on multiple times on 8/12/22 when trying to figure out a solution with dispatch. I was treated as a chore rather than a person in a stressful situation (because of U-Pack) trying to receive service on the reservation/guarantee that U-Pack assured me (since May!). I was also informed that the company did not assess the location prior to delivery, which is a discrepancy from typical protocol. Had this happened, perhaps the company might have thought of alternative solutions ahead of 08/12/22 and reached out to me. The pod was dropped off that Monday and picked up on Wednesday. The pick up could not be delayed or else delivery by the 26th would not be guaranteed. I was told that the company would call prior to picking up the pod; They did not. A result from the delay and lack of promised communication regarding pick up: I had no time to finish packing -- half of my belongings were left out of the pod as a direct result of the negligence of U Pack. This was totally unacceptable. The onus of problem-solving was on me and the company took no responsibility for their lack of appropriate equipment and poor customer service. I have pictures of the truck, pod, contract, furniture left out, etc. I also have written records of phone and in-person conversations with date & time marked. I have included a portion of these below. This company cost me hundred to thousands of dollars in furniture replacement with no remorse or compassion. Their guarantees are meaningless, and they made a very stressful time 100x more stressful.

I got home and noticed this and I took the statue upstairs, and through my window heard them complaining that I had taken in the statue. They were supposed to arrive at 8:30/9 AM, which was confirmed by phone by them the day before. 9...9:15...nothing. We call their office-- they're closed on Saturdays. We call the salesperson who quoted us-- no answer. Finally, I think around 10 we hear from the sales guy. It turns out that the movers grabbed the paperwork for a move in two days, showed up, the people said, hey you're early, and they left. (Lesson #1: If you grabbed the wrong paperwork, wouldn't you return to the office to get the right paperwork?) Salesperson talks to them and tries to see if they can still come. We hear back. Yes, the movers will come at 11:30/12. It's 12...12:15...nothing. We call salesperson back. Voicemail. (Lesson #2: You already stood us up once, your movers ostensibly have our paperwork and therefore contact number...why aren't they informing us that they'll be late?) We hear back from salesperson. It seems like today won't work, might have to be tomorrow. We say we need to think about it and call back. We do, and insist on today (we've now spent/wasted like 6 hours waiting for movers to come). Salesperson tells us that they're not sure it's going to happen this weekend. We ask if we can talk to the dispatcher. We can't because that person only has a personal cell. (Lesson #3: So if you move on a weekend, there's no one you can contact if there's a problem? Lesson #4: Why can't you come this weekend? Because you're too booked? Can't you give us more information?) The salesperson was nice enough to recommend someone else who was available, but we decided to move everything ourselves because we were so fed up / didn't trust anyone anymore. We've never used movers and thought it would be such a good break. Instead, this experience made our move twice as long. Appreciate that mistakes happen, but this is three in one day (1. AM time missed; 2. PM time missed; 3. Cancellation on same day.)
