Allie is a fantastic dog sitter, and as long as she has availability, I will bring my dog, Sammie, back to her every time I travel! Allie and her family really care for the dogs as though they are part of Allie's family. The dogs play together, often with the kids in the back yard, they come in and share the living room with the family, even sleep in beds sometimes if that's what the dog wants! I also love that Allie posts FB photos of my dog while I'm traveling, it's fun to see that Sammie is having a good time. OH YES - and probably most important - Sammie used to come home from kennels "shell-shocked". We tried the vet, Pet WOW, Pet Suites, everything - and he would always come home from those places with an upset stomach from the stress, weight loss from a week of not eating, etc, and he has to sleep for days to get his energy back - you could tell he was miserable at the kennels. Not when he comes home from Allie's house!! After a week with Allie and her family, he comes home full of energy, exactly the same weight as when we dropped him off - the first time we brought him there, he wanted to keep playing with the other dogs when I picked him up! Even my husband remarked that Sammie literally had ZERO of the negative side effects he usually experiences when he has stayed at other kennels in the past. Like I said, I absolutely LOVE leaving Sammie with Allie and her family, and I will continue to use her every time we travel. Yes, Allie is young (I think in her early teens?) - but what an incredible young woman she is. She is very fortunate to have caring, supportive parents and siblings who all pitch in and help her with her business, and she is clearly passionate about caring for animals. Just look at her facebook page - all those people who leave comments for her (including me) are real clients, and it seems to me that we're all repeat customers. I'm happy my daughter was recommended Allie's Walkabout. My name is Sheri Challandes and im from Edwardsville IL. I got my daughter Kristin,( who just moved to Cincinnati 18 months ago) a Boxer puppy for her birthday in Aug 2013. After a few hours with puppy Vinny, we realized he was deaf. With Kristin working and growing a business of her own, she realized she couldn't leave Vinny home alone and crated for hours on end. With concerns about Vinny just being left in a crate with some service all day, Kristin started searching for caring dog service and Allie's Walkabout was recommended by a friend. After raising Danes ourselves and never having a need for a dog service, I was cautious about leaving little deaf Vinny with just anyone. My daughter assured me they came with a very good recommendation. Vinny is now close to 4 mo and has been going to Allie's for about 1 1/2 mo. I've visited and have seen for myself how excited Vinny gets when he's being dropped off and also how great his social behavior with other dogs is now as opposed to if he had been crated at home alone all day. I'm also impressed with the crate traing and sign language training they are doing with Vinny which greatly helps my daughter and enriches Vinny's life. I'm very thankful my daughter has found such a caring, trustworthy, reliable place for Vinny. He goes there approx 3 days a week and it eases our minds that he's safe and well taken care of. My Siberian Husky got attacked by a dog in the care of this business. They claimed to have "looked him over" and DID NOT NOTIFY ME OF THE SITUATION. Even when I picked him up that night nothing was said about any altercation. The next day, I found a big hole in the side of my dog. I rushed him to the emergency vet and called the daycare to find out if anything happened. Then, they decide to tell me about the altercation. Because we missed the 4 to 8 hour window to stitch my fur baby up, he had an infection that required 2 different antibiotics, pain medication, stitches and laser therapy. IF I WOULD HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED, he would have been simply stitched up and sent on his way. In the beginning, Allies Walkabout said they would like to pay his vet bills. THEY EVEN USED A PICTURE OF MY BABY WITH A HOLE IN HIS SIDE FOR A LEARNING EXPERIENCE. When it came down to it, they tried to credit the $500 to use at their facility instead of giving me the money back into my bank account. HELLO? MY DOG IS TRAUMATIZED FROM THIS PLACE AND WILL NOT GO BACK. They now REFUSE to reimburse any of his vet bills, even though we were in the situation because we weren't notified. This place is a disaster and NOT SAFE for any fur baby. Please, don't risk taking your dog here. I don't want to hear about another dog going through what mine had to. read more

I can't say how grateful I have been to have found Allie and her wonderful family to take care of my dog Lucy when I go out of town. I would and have recommended them to anyone and I am very picky about who takes care of my dog. She is well cared for and always very excited every time she arrives at their home. Allie is extremely responsible and has done a great job with her business. The entire family helps out when there are extra dogs to care for. I can tell that my Lucy is very happy when she stays at their home, and get the attention and play time that she needs to make up for me being gone. The worse thing that has happened was the younger son broke her old ceramic dog dish, and he kindly offered to pay more than it was worth out of his own money. Allie is in my neighborhood and treats my dog like her own. What more could I ask of her? Great job Allie!! read more

Well I agree with Samantha and Erika Igo. it is basically run by uneducated kids ! As far as the owner of Allies, there should never have been a first time. (losing a dog) They have a huge communication problem there. If Erika Igo would have been just told about how Nikko's day went, ( when she ask) she would have looked him over herself and taken him straight to the animal hospital and he would have got stitches and that would have been the end of that. But instead the 13 year old said everything was great. now the owner who was on channel 9 news, shouldn't have been the one even talking... he wasn't there and all the discussions were between Erika and Mary, his wife.. that right there should tell you something. He wasn't truthful, and did not take accountability for not one thing.... but why should he... all about the MONEY!! read more

I cannot say enough good things about Allie's. Allie is so caring and professional and truly loves dogs. The rest of the family is the same way. They Are the only people I trust to leave my puppy Luna with! It's so comforting knowing your dog is with people that care for her as if she were their own dog. I take Luna to daycare there at least twice a week. Prices are very reasonable too. They even give me tips on training her, and work with her to teach her not to jump on people! Everytime we pull up in front of the house, my dog goes crazy with excitement and runs to the door. They are truly amazing and it is rare to find such quality and reliable service these days, but they do it. I LOVE ALLIES!!! read more

I have boarded my dog Sadie many times at Allie's Walkabout and have had nothing but an awesome experience each time. Sadie is always very happy to be there and I feel much better that she is being taken care of in a home environment where she is in constant interaction with all the members of Allie's family and not just acknowledged at selected and limited times of the day (and you have to pay extra for any additional play times) at a kennel. I have referred several family members there and they were very pleased as well. I would definitely refer Allie's to anyone looking for that personal and loving touch that you would want from someone taking care of your furry babies!! read more

Ruby is big part of our family now that we are empty nesters! When at home she is treated just like a family member! So, to know that when we are away she is in an environment that is treating her like a family member, well that is a peace of mind for us! Ruby sleeps with us at night and gets to sleep with Allie's brother when we are away! Again, a peace of mind! She isn't locked up in a cage (kennel) and can relax and play with the other dogs too! I have used Allie's Walkabout repeatedly over the last 4 years for our beloved dog, Jack. She has always offered professional service and competitive rates. I have often referred her to neighbors and friends, because I know Jack is in excellent hands with Allie and her support staff. I love knowing he is being treated as a member of the family and not just put into a cage in a room full of other cages and barking dogs. We rescued him from a pound so he could have a good life with our family, why would we send him BACK to a pound environment when we are unable to be home with him? That would be illogical. read more

I have been using Allie's Walkabout since the summer of 2016 and have never had any issues. After adopting a dog from my local shelter I had him stay for an overnight test run and he barked all night. They were kind enough, learning he was a recent "inmate" at the shelter, to give him another chance. I opted for the sleepover when we boarded and he has become a favorite at Allie's and loves going. Both of my dogs come home happy and pooped out from all the play. Every staff member I have met has been wonderful. Thank you for taking such good care of Mia Bella and Smokey! We have an 11 year old Labradoodle and she needs to be groomed every 6-8 weeks. This is the second time we have taken her to Allie's Walkabout and both times the staff answering the phone and in person were friendly and helpful. Allie groomed Maggie and she did a wonderful job! Because of Maggie's tightly curled hair it is very time consuming and her hair has different tightness of curl on different parts of her body which can be a challenge when grooming. Allie's is awesome!! We brought our 10 month old, incredibly energetic goldendoodle to stay with Allie for a week. They were incredibly professional, answered all my emails and questions very quickly and yet we felt like we were leaving our puppy with family. We also got pictures and comments from Allie while we were away which really helped my kids who were missing her! I began taking my puppy Tiger to Allie's a few months ago and I cannot explain how happy I am with the experience. When Tiger is told he is going to Allie's for the day he jumps up and down like a crazy dog, won't eat his breakfast, grabs his leash and heads for the door! He comes home completely exhausted from playing all day, and this is a puppy with a lot of energy! Allie's Walkabout is a great place to take your pet! She provides a home-like atmosphere where your pet will feel comfortable & loved. ! I took Vinny, my deaf, 10 week old Boxer there & I had no concerns whatsoever that he wouldn't have a great time & be looked after properly. Vinny had such a great time & I was so comfortable with my decision, that I've now booked 2 more pet sitting days in the same week, & will be using Allie's Walkabout on a weekly basis. Allie did such a great job with our two dogs, one 9 lbs and one 45 lbs! We were nervous about leaving them with someone new since they often get separation anxiety, but they loved being around so many other dogs and getting to run and play rather than being stuck in a kennel. I would highly recommend using her services, while it is an unconventional method being in their home and her being so young, I think that is what makes it so much better for the dogs! read more

Allie is a true professional and loved our german shepherd and basset/beagle mix when we went out of town for a week. They had a great time and were wore out from the playtime at Allie's! Our grooming experience was wonderful. Our dog has anxiety and grooming has been a stressful experience. Not this time! Our dog was happy and in no hurry to leave. They lie about accommodations for the animals. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE! They handle more dogs then they're capable of taking on and employees do not care about the welfare of your loved one. They are kids who are there to make a buck; if it was some other type of work it would be different but when dealing with animals you have to actually care for it, especially if it is not your animal.
