Ambience inside, particularly in the upstairs bar, is very nice with dimly lit booths and and a nice bar to sit at. The vibe of the bar is upscale, but not at all pretentious and easy to meet new people. Very friendly bartenders as well. Cons: The bar has become a bit of a victim of it's own success in the past year, as it has been 'discovered' by Gen Z and TikTok. The resulting long entry lines and crowds inside have spoiled the feel of this once hidden gem. And be prepared to hold your pee during peak times Overall, it's still one of the best bars in the city, but I will probably hold off to see if the newfound fame eases off a bit in the near future.

BEWARE: Multiple Phones Stolen in One Night, Management Showed No Concern…read more Both my friend and I had our phones stolen inside Ciao Ciao. We later learned that at least two other women also had their phones stolen that same night. When we reported it to the bouncers and management, they showed little concern and made no meaningful effort to investigate, review security footage, or help locate the stolen phones. We even pointed out an individual whose behavior seemed suspicious, but instead of investigating him, management defended him. After I questioned him myself, I watched him immediately leave, get into a car parked directly in front of the club, and drive away. Something seemed quite fishy about his relationship with the club. What makes this especially concerning is the safety aspect. If I had not been with my friends, I would have been stranded for the rest of the night without a phone to contact anyone, get directions, or access transportation. Having multiple phones stolen in one evening should be a major red flag for any venue, yet staff seemed completely uninterested in addressing it. Based on this experience, I would not return and would urge anyone visiting to keep a very close eye on their belongings.

Their playlist is great so vibes were on point. We all shared the lemon drop cocktail tower. It was super cute, tasty, fun, and did what it had to do for us pre-day party. For food, I tried the bao fish tacos and the crab curry gyoza. Both of these items were good but for the amount that comes with them it's pricy (you get 2 small bao tacos and 4 pieces of gyoza, both of which are $20-22 each). I liked the bao tacos the most because of the mixture of flavors and textures, including the excellently friend fish. The gyoza was different. It wasn't bad but I think I'm just used to crispy/fried gyoza vs these which were boiled/soft. My friends really enjoyed the crab fried rice. The fried sweet plantains were just ok to me; The batch we got were dry and not that sweet.

Yesterday night for Halloween my friends and I were looking for a place to drink and have a good time I mentioned this location bc I knew with ever drink u get a ticket which gets u free personal pizza and the drink prices are also reasonable when we arrived the front bar smelled of vomit and bleach so my friends and I were considering leaving and going some where else bc of how bad the smell was one of my friends suggested we moved to the back room which has karaoke...we were having a good time I went on stage performed the song super man by Eminem which is on there list of song choices and in general is a very provocative song which says words like b**** and h** and it wasn't a problem... we continued on with the night watching people as they got in stage and performed , two of my friends waited as their turn came up they chose to sing the song magic stick by 50 cent ft lil Kim which was also very provocative and also on their list of song choices as my friends where on stage rapping in the moment the girl who worked there in karaoke side named Sam told them if they say the "n word " they would get cut off as my friends were still in the moment rapping along to song the girl Who worked there cuts off the music bc she said she heard them say the "n word" again my friend upset bc they waited to do their song and getting cut off without realizing what was going on start telling the girl Who worked there that it's basically bull s*** cut them off , the girl who worked there continued by saying on the mic so everyone in the room heard " but are u black though " basically making my friends and I feel like we are racist in front of this group of strangers in a bar I then said " just keep going " bc I felt like she was making a scene she then said on the mic " I will get the bouncer to kick u guys out if u say it again " when we are just trying to have a good night if it's a problem then those song shouldn't be on the list and if they are on the list then the people who worked there shouldn't feel victimized when a group of people sing along to lyric written by a completely different person The next Individual went on stage and performed the song gold digger by Kanye west ft Jame foxx now again the girl behind the karaoke booth who works there mentions the the next individual that was performing not to say the " n word " and the song plays my friends and I sang along at our table and the girl Who worked there stormed off stage and got the bouncer to kick me and my party of 7 people out of the bar, she then continued to to say that my friend and myself included pointed out fingers at her at we said the " n word " in no way would I ever verbally discriminate any one so why would my group of friends and I have the intentions of calling out a single individual. The bouncer proceed to tell us we needed to leave bc management said so. I then asked to speak to the manager . When I told her the situation at hand she told me she actually didn't have any idea what was going on when I was told management confirmed that my party of 8 had to leave . She then told me she would have to speak to the employee which I didn't understand bc my party was already being escorted out , the manager then invited me to come back on another night which also I didn't understand as to why my party was being kicked out but then invited back . We just wanted to have a good time and this place ended up placing a bad experience in my life . read more

OOOOH lord, where to begin. So I roll up with two of my girls, ready for some free pizza and cheap drinks. The first girl in the group makes it through fine, and then it gets to my friend. She was in town from upstate, so her license was one of them new holographic looking ones, but CLEARLY over 21. This bitch ass bouncer takes one fast look at it, rolls his bitch eyes, tells her its fake, and tells her to leave (and that he was gonna call the cops.) She OBVIOUSLY nicely said "um, no it's real, you want see some other identification?" and he keeps egging her on saying "no. go ahead. call the cops. please. call the cops right now." Free pizza may be the ultimate call, but might I suggest training your caveman bouncers in the basic art of 1. license identication, 2. respect 3. getting a goddamn scanner! our girls need to get some mother--ckn pizza up in this bitch. All about the bartender! I recently moved to the neighborhood and had heard mixed things about Alligator lounge. I finally went last night and it was great! The pizza is decent, and it's free. The drinks are decently priced. But the vibe is perfect. Completely laid back. Completely unpretentious. Tvs everywhere, board games, pool table, huge back lounge area. And best of all the bartender! I walked in and saw this hot little bearded hipster dude with a trucker hat and thought shit, another place where everyone is gonna be too cool for school. But he was a sweet heart, he told me all about the neighborhood and introduced me to other people at the bar, who wee also super nice. Maybe it's because I wasn't expecting much, but I was blown away by how attentive he was and how much I enjoyed the whole place. Definitely going back soon. read more

This is my bar. If I ever want to hang out with my friends we head to Gator. The staff is friendly, the drinks are cheap, and there's even free pizza. There's karaoke in the back on most days and that's where you'll find me when I pop in. It's never a boring night at gator. Something's always happening. Sometimes people are drunk and get a little out of hand, but that's what bouncers are for. I've met some of my best friends, had some of my wildest nights and seen some of the weirdest shit all at this bar. I love it. Wouldn't have it any other way. read more

After a small party at a friend's apartment in W-Burg, we went to Alligator Lounge because we had heard of the free personal pizza with every beer. The place had a good vibe to it and had just the right amount of people there without being overly crowded. We went to the back room so that we could sit and enjoy our pizzas which were mediocre but good enough after a few drinks. There was a juke box that wasn't working but the manager graciously fixed it for us. Overall, it's a chill place to hang out. I would go back if I'm in the area. read more

I ducked into the Alligator Lounge because I was doing my laundry across the street and wanted to kill some time. Inside it had a nice setup with the cushion sit down areas off to the left, bar on the right, and pool table in the back. Good selection of beers, and I got there in time for the freeo pizza which was like eating super thin crust Elios with less cheese. I'm not complaining because it was free, so get there at 5pm and enjoy a freeo meal with a beer or two. Bartender was nothing to give praise about. read more

No, not as many beer choices as Crocodile Lounge... but I can get by with what they offer me. And honestly, I like the pizza. It's not microwaved! It may not be the best pizza in New York but for free? It's great. I've never been there when it's jampacked and crazy though so the quality may suffer a decline during those times... I've been early in the eve so it's not too busy and I've always gotten my pizza in short order, and it's been tasty. B+ for me! read more

Definitely one of my favorite weekend spots, for the price of a pint you get a ticket for a free personal pizza which is great for when you're hungry and drunk. Super laid back atmosphere, no cover or need to dress-up, hipster-ish feel but generally good music, also they have free bingo night where you can win a bar tab or round of shots. Alligator Lounge is a great little pub. The free pizza is fantastic - and I do suggest getting toppings. Also, the male bartender who works most Saturdays makes awesome margaritas! I see soooooooo many 1 star reviews saying exactly what I'm about to talk about--- Oliver and the security guard-- THIS ONE IS FOR YOU!!!! I found this place to be very interesting from hearing about the Free Pizza, which by the way all of a sudden was not free after the first few times I came--- but the behaviour of the staff who I just found out the other night the bartender whose name is Oliver is actually the goddamn manager and the owner is basically absentee owner so Oliver is the one in charge... imagine that ??? I have been going to bars, pubs and dive bars all over the country for the better part of the last 25 years and I've never been so rudely mistreated by any establishment like this-- what I'm going to review here is the truth and actually very shocking almost criminal.... First and foremost, when you walk in, there's always some hood security guard ( yes hood ) who actually blocked the door as if you're doing something wrong as soon as you open the door and demands to see identification... I'm approximately 50 years old even though I look younger I'm certainly not having the appearance of somebody under 21 years of age. I've never actually had my ID checked BY ANYONE PROBABLY IN THE LAST 20 YEARS... But on one particular occasion, which happens in January 2025 the security guard was actually sleeping when I opened the door which was a relief to me since I didn't have to deal with this interrogation... I reiterate I absolutely don't mind showing my ID but the way the guy does it is as if I'm doing something wrong as soon as I walk in... however this night that I'm writing about which was my last time there until two nights ago the guy was actually sleeping so I go to the bar and guess what happens.... He actually wakes up and approaches me at the bar and accuses me of sneaking in and not wanting to show my ID ! This was shocking and ridiculous and resulted in an argument.... Now let's get to Oliver... typical hipster European blonde in appearance. I find out the other night that he's actually the manager and he is indeed Hungarian in German. I gave the best description I could to the Pizza man who was probably one of the nicest people I've spoken to there, which was two nights ago. This guy Oliver could not be more repulsive and rude as if he didn't want me there for God knows what reason... absolutely no smile almost no eye contact and actually mimic me when I told him whatever I was telling him and that okay whatever this is this is the protocol of checking identification and all of that stuff, then God forbid I asked for the ticket for the Pizza. He acted as if I was asking for something I was not entitled to... This has been my experience with Oliver every single time I've been there and I can see many many other people are saying the same thing... absolutely zero customer service or social skills and I am a customer I am extremely friendly and I'm even smiling and there's absolutely no reason to be mistreated or made to feel unwelcome... by myself of good appearance, but I am not a hipster perhaps I'm not the type that they want in there?? that would probably be illegal for them to state that.... The pizza I got that night was absolutely horrendous. The photograph in the first is from January 2025 and it looks like something that was frozen. Let's compare it to the new picture from three nights ago and you can see the huge difference. Fast forward to July 2026, came in on a night that Oliver happens to not be working, I did not know this walking in it was just my luck that he happened to not be working that particular night.... The bartender this time around was extremely nice and welcoming and resembled Filipino just to give a description. The pie man I can see in the reflection of the kitchen refrigerator steel that he was actually making the pizza which I was shocked so I started talking with him about it and the Pizza man that night was extremely nice and gave me all of this information that Oliver is the actual manager and in charge and the owner of the place, obviously probably lives in the Bahamas or Florida or something and is never there....

It's a chill dive bar with skeeball and karaoke nights. Happy hour runs from 12-7pm daily with $1 off draft and well drinks plus FREE pizza! Even after happy hour, their pizzas are only $1 including the ones with toppings. This is such an amazing deal and the pizza is pretty great, especially after some drinks. Plus, they have one of my favorite bottle of Jameson Orange, which I don't see available at many bars. I'm excited to add Charleston to my rotation of Williamsburg bars now.

They have live music in the back room which is a cozy, tight space that pretty much ensures you'll make eye contact with the performers. I'm not sure if we just got lucky or if the talent is always that good but the two bands we saw were both so great in their own way. There's a great variety of genres and clientele. Finding seating in the main front area can be tough but there was plenty of seating in the music area and the back porch. This is the kind of place I want to become a regular at!

Visited under the premise of a private event and was able to try a couple signature cocktails. Bartender was friendly, super accommodating and friendly... not to mention his shaking drinks to the beat of the music was a welcome sound versus the typical bar noise. Loved the space, the dj was playing well and genre diverse. Not sure what a typical night looks like here but loved the dark and cozy vibe. As you approach you'll see Upside Pizza, walk in and straight to the back is where you'll see the entrance for Ask For Janice. We went on a Thursday night around 11pm. We were able to snag a booth. Although there are tables you still have to place your drink orders at the bar. I went with the Love Like Honey which was sooo good! Perfectly balanced not being too strong or too sweet. I also got a Pepperoni slice which wasn't my vibe. Burnt on the sides and crust, too hard... not for me. There was a DJ playing throwback Hip Hop, R&B and reggae. Total vibe! Ask for Janice is a very cozy space. Only 3 booths available with 3 high tables, plus additional seats at the bar. I love a good cocktail so I would definitely come back!
