Over Christmas I purchased a Green Egg for my husband at Allred's Ace Hardware and the staff was very friendly to help me decide which size would be best for our family's needs. I came in the day before Christmas eve and they told me they would have one built and ready to pick up on Christmas eve at 9 am. They even loaded the egg in my vehicle and showed me how to take it apart correctly since there's a lot of pieces to it. Since then we've been going back to this store for many of our essential items and more items for smoking with our new Green Egg. They have a lot of the same items your local Home Depot or Lowes carry without the crowds. Went in to shop for one of the higher end Traeger Grills, and spoke with David and James. Both were very professional, answered all my questions, and even delivered the grill immediately to my home! They have a great selection of bolts/hardware, not to mention delicious popcorn. Unfortunately, the store is either staffed by grumpy old men, or apathetic millenials and gen-xers. If you want to have a Craftsman tool replaced under their lifetime guarantee warranty, don't count on them honoring it. They will simply come up with some reason why they can't replace it under warranty and/or give you every reason in the book. Terrible customer service when it comes to Craftsman warranty replacements. They simply will not go out of their way as individuals to provide excellent customer service. It is as if they have not been empowered, they just do what they are told. When I am a paying customer I expect to be treated and served as though I mean something, not treated like I'm a thorn in your side. I'll probably find a new hardware store. read more

Rarely is it that a person can go into a place of business, ask a question, get helped, get exactly what they want almost immediately, and still leave saying "Wow. What poor customer service". I went in today to ask about sawdust. I am starting to compost and I read that sawdust is a good material to use. I asked a cashier at the front of the store if I could sweep up some sawdust in the back where they cut their lumber. I asked if I needed to pay or if it would be free or if they just wouldn't let me. Honestly I'm a laid back guy and any of those answers would be perfectly fine. I was just curious. The cashier was incredibly helpful and pleasant. I didn't catch his name and I don't remember seeing his name tag but he was a young man working at around 4:30 pm on Tuesday July 20th, 2021. Give him a raise. He didn't know the answer to my question off the top of his head but he immediately got on his ear piece and asked the store employees my question. He got no response. Fair enough. He took me to the back of the store to see if we could get my question answered in person. Here we met the most awful worker I have ever encountered in any place of business ever. I also didn't get his name. He was short and skinny. Very muscular with not much hair at all. I suspect he might have been a manager of some kind but I'm not sure. The cashier asked him my question. The man, who was on his phone, never looked up at either of us. He said, and I quote: "if the f***er wants some sawdust he can have some f***ing sawdust." Without ever looking up from his phone, he walked away. The cashier was apologetic about this mans behavior, apologized again because he had to return to his register, showed me where I could find a broom and dustpan, and where the machines were that produced sawdust, and asked if I would be okay collecting it myself. I replied yes that was perfectly fine and I would go get my bucket from my vehicle and be back to collect the sawdust. As I returned with my bucket I passed this man as he was walking through the store. Still with his eyes on his phone. I tried to establish some sort of eye contact with him and maybe get him to acknowledge my existence. Nothing. I collected my sawdust, returned the broom and dustpan to their proper locations, and left for home. Let me be clear. The cashier was wonderful. Give him a raise. This other employee, be he a manager or some other employee, was awful. I don't know if he was having a bad day or what his problem was. But at the very least he needs training, a pay reduction, a demotion, or to be fired outright. His behavior was not acceptable in any way. I don't require excellent customer service. I only ask to be treated like a human being. He could not even manage that. read more

They have a huge selection, and such low prices. I always save money when I shop here! The staff is also so helpful, knowledgeable and dedicated. They are always willing to help, and never let me down with helping find what I need. The selection of grills, Traegers and Stihl products is fantastic. Also, they sell mattresses, and they are so comfy and affordable. Best sleep of my life on the mattress I bought there. If you need anything, go to Allred's Ace Hardware! Every time I come here, I wonder why I bother with Home Depot. They have everything I need, with far better customer service and extremely knowledgeable staff that will take the extra time you need to help you get your project done right. You can buy individual screws for that simple home project instead of a box of 50, so I save money. I am in and out far faster than when I go to the big chains. This place is a win-win read more

It seems this place has all those things that the "big boys" have, and better customer service too. It may seem a bit cramped at first, but there are plenty of friendly faces to help out. Usually I go to the highland location, since it's closer to my house, but from time to time the larger selection here means that I need to head down here. Just about everything that is available at the big box stores can be found here, but the customer service is top notch and staff is super knowledgeable. read more

Bought a Traeger from this place. Did not even come with a box it also came defective did not reach temperature always had unexpected shutdowns. The grill did not even show the right temperature on the screen. If you're buying a traeger better go somewhere else. read more

As far as the service in the store I would rate it 5 stars. I called to see if they had a replacement wheel for a lawn mower, and the girl who answered took extra time to help me out. In the store I found a wide variety of choices and well stocked shelves.
