We were here for a birthday party and instead of being fully staffed having enough staff there to teach and help all the kids climb they make each parent be with 1 kid...oops well I have two kids meaning that 1 of them couldn't participate. Absolutely absurd. 2. If you are FAT or TALL or your kid is FAT you will not fit in the small triangle that you must humiliating squeeze though to be able to do the "caving" I saw a grown woman crying because guess what ...if you don't fit your kids can't participate. You need to go with them. and for gooood reason....the caves are pure terror... 3. CAVE trauma ...Children including my own daughter got stuck and lost in the "caves" my 11yr old was banging on the wall for over 20mins until a random person found her, you can't hear her because it's loud in there. I saw another two kids terrified and hysterical looking though a small plastic window in the wall..they were stuck and NO staff helped a parent had to try to go in and find them but got lost. 4. The rock climbing itself was not fun at all the treks up are *VERY* short and most are super easy even for kids...ropes dangling all over, just awful. I've been to several climbing gyms and was a novice climber for fun in my younger years. I've never been to such a poorly organized kids party where adults and children alike were crying. If you are thin go alone and plan to avoid the caves you might like it there. Otherwise avoid. See the triangle that all adults and all children must fit though for your kids to even go to the birthday party if that alone is not awful enough if you don't fit or happen to be claustrophobic there is no staff there that can go on with the kids. Dirty and it's clear that the mats, walls and definitely the "caves" do not get cleaned. Avoid at all costs.

To the best of my knowledge, Beaches NY Sabre is the only fencing club in the Capital Region that has lessons for kids as young as 6 years old. The space that the students take lessons in and practice in, the historical Guild House in Troy, is amazing. My son took his first, of no doubt, many lessons yesterday and loved it. We weren't even out of the door and he was already saying "I want to come back tomorrow". Coach Washburn is patient and thorough and teaches students of all different skill levels. It was also really nice that they have all of the equipment for the students to use at no extra charge beyond the lesson cost. Because there is no requirement to buy expensive gear, it is actually a very affordable sport for kids to be involved in. My son is looking forward to his next lesson with much anticipation.

They always make you feel welcomed and comfortable being there. My son was training at another gym and had back and arm problems from not lifting correctly. After coming here they showed him how to lift correctly. They got his back and arm stronger doing it a proper way. He went through the baseball season with no back or arm pain thanks to them. He also got stronger and faster with his personal plan for training. They both have college education (not just a certified trainer) that sets the apart from other trainers. I decided to stop by the Lazy Axe for some random Saturday fun and I am glad I did…read more As a walk in, I paid $27 for a full hour of axe time which came with a friendly and helpful "Axepert" who showed me the best ways to throw the axes, critiqued my form, and had me hitting bullseyes in no time! The staff in general were very friendly and enthusiastic about showing me ways to enjoy this relatively young sport originating from Canada. I learned that they host league nights, and that they even have someone who is nationally ranked that attends. His special throw is the, "canadian flick" (I think) which is where one leans in, and well... flicks the axe at the target. I learned there are many ways to throw an axe over the course of the hour so I was never bored and I felt like I had plenty of time to enjoy myself. There was the standard double handed over the head toss, the single handed toss (my favorite), the flick, the underhanded trick shot, the double axe over head toss at two targets, same thing with the underhanded, and this really hard one where you sort of scissor a overhand and underhand at the same time at two different targets. I was... sort of successful at some of those but definitely would need to be a regular to get good enough to be consistent. They also taught me two or three games you can play with people in your group. So between the lessons, trick shots, and games, I had plenty of things to do for the hour I was there alone. Which if you think about it, is impressive. If I had been with a group, just talking and enjoying everyones company, that hour would have flown by. If you are looking for a fun and creative way to enjoy an hour with a date, or group of friends, or just solo, check this place out. Axe throwing is fun! They have a good online reservation system for groups which I recommend if you are planning to go with a large (4+) group because from what I hear, they can get busy. Especially in the evening time on a Saturday. Just remember to follow the rules, listen to your Axepert, be aware of your surroundings, and please, just don't be an asshole. These are nice people running a nice business with a fun name. No need to hit anything or anyone other than the actual targets with your axe which is really easy to do... when you are paying attention and nice. If you end up going you shouldn't forget to ask about their rewards card. 5-6 visits gets you a free hour. Honestly, I have spent $20-$30 dollars on some things where I had way less fun than what I got out of this experience. It was absolutely worth it and maybe even considering joining a league and socializing with a nice group of axe throwing folk one day. Visit, enjoy!

It was initially for something to occupy my time one night a week to do something locally. For those who follow my Yelp reviews, you can tell that I spend a chunk of my time out of town (by choice), but I wanted an outlet within my home area to have fun, meet new people, etc. Kickball, with its 8 week regular season plus playoffs, seemed to be a good fit for me, and some friends of mine that live in North Carolina play in an adult kickball league down there and subliminally encouraged me to get into the sport. Some people sign up for the kickball league individually as a free agent to be placed on a team or as part of a small group and get placed on a team that needs the players. Other people will sign up as part of a full team. In any respect, if you want to play kickball, there will be a place for you. Some people who play kickball are natural athletes, but others (such as myself) are able to play even with not much natural athletic ability and still enjoy themselves. By design, adult kickball is a social sport, and after the games (which usually take about an hour from start to finish), teams are able to go to the specially designated kickball bar to socialize with players from their team as well as players from other teams. Kickball players have been known to play a relaxing game of flip cup while at the bar as well. The long or short of the matter is, if you're looking for a fun way to occupy some of your time, besides reading some awesome Yelp reviews, I think that WAKA Kickball is where its at.
