After 25 years of paying premiums without filing a single claim, we expected better support when we finally needed help. Instead, we've been met with silence and a complete lack of accountability. Even after hiring a public adjuster, neither Chad nor State Farm has responded to us. We're now under contract to sell our home and will likely have to pay for the roof out of pocket--simply because we trusted the wrong insurance company and the wrong agent. If you're considering working with Chad Rutledge, I strongly recommend visiting his office a few times first (which is only open from 10-4, may I add!) you'll see he's never there. The workers in the same building told me they had seen him come in twice in the five years they had been renting office space next to him! He's likely staying out of site because surely I'm not the only one trying to get in touch with him. You might also take a drive through some more established neighborhoods and look at the homes with visible roof damage. Chances are, they're insured by State Farm. Please think twice before choosing State Farm or Chad Rutledge. You're better off burning your money!

You sell insurance and you don't know if we can fix this or not? I have rarely been treated like such an annoyance. I complained, so they called to apologize for my bad experience but ask me to" acknowledge that they had returned my call". I guess I'm happy to provide a verbal that nothing is again their fault if it makes them feel better. It was humiliating. Almost two decades with them and they made me cry on the way to work. We did one chipped windshield repair and that was a little bit of a pain but it did get covered at no cost to us. I called Dangerfield Insurance (the agency we've worked with the last 10 yrs) back in September 2020 to see if they did course of construction insurance as we were going to be building soon. They said they did and we got it all priced out. I called two separate times trying to lock it down. The last time I talked to Bob around beginning-mid October he told me to give his information to our bank lenders and have them contact him. We gave our lender his information at the time of closing which was mid- October because they wanted proof of insurance and that was that. We didn't actually start framing until November the 19th. I called Bob Monday, Nov. 30 to make sure we were covered because I hadn't heard a word. I called and he said nothing was finalized and that he had a open quote or whatever it was called so I asked, "what do we need to do to get insured" and again he told me to give our lenders his info and have them contact him. We did and a day later I believe Bob called me back and said he hadn't heard anything. So I said can we just pay the premium or what do we need to do to get covered but he said he had to talk to our lender. So I said, well do you want me to give you our lenders information and you contact them directly (something that should have happened from day 1). He took their contact info and contacted her and then while talking to her let her know that we can't be insured because we had already started construction. Bob contacted me a day later to let me know that the underwriter said they wouldn't insure us because we had started construction. Nothing to help fix the situation that was entirely not our fault just a sorry but we'd be happy to insure your house once its completed.
