Even though you will continue to pay Medicare part A and B premiums, when you are signed up for one of their "Medicare Advantage" plans, you are dropped from all Medicare coverage. While you may receive minimal dental, vision and prescription drug coverage, your medical coverage is decimated. With Humana, my annual maximum out-of-pocket amount went from $240 to $6000, and my coinsurance rate significantly increased. But far worse than that, you may not find a doctor that will see you at all. Humana is not accepted by a huge number of providers that accept Medicare. Furthermore, Humana misinformed me that a provider was in-network, and failed to pay for services clearly covered by my policy. Humana did not even respond to a grievances I filed against them. The other terrible choice Baker Insurance Group pushes is Ambetter. Baker Insurance told my wife that she can continue to see her primary care doctor. However, this was not correct and she had a terrible time even making a routine preventative care appointment. There are very few providers in Washington that accept Ambetter and the ones that do appear to be only poorly rated second-tier providers. After you are signed up, Baker Insurance Group has demonstrated that they will not assist you, regardless of how egregious the actions are of the insurance company they signed you up with. For you own sake, do your own research and be careful. Ask who someone represents and how they make their money. If they do not give you a straight answer, walk away. If you are told a provider is in-network, don't assume that is correct. Get verifiable conformation from both the provider and the insurance company. This can save you a lot of time and money in the long run. I gave Teresa Baker ample opportunity to respond to my review prior to posting it and she declined.

After searching the web I found a local agency that had a page for "Earthquake Prevention and Safety". The Carriage Agency lists Earthquake Insurance, Catastrophe Insurance, Safeco Earthquake Insurance and an array of links that might lead you to think they sell earthquake insurance. I reached out over email to get started on my quote. First off the broker told me - "I am sorry but our agency is no longer able to issue an earthquake policy without supporting business (like home/auto insurance)." Fair enough I think maybe they can't bind it independent of a homeowners policy, so I asked her to quote my homeowners and the EQ policy together. My blunt no information response was - "I am not interested in quoting this." Well, that's nice. At the minimum, your website is highly misleading and is the agency stuffing content to troll for business 'they actually are interested in' without actually wanting to meet the needs of potential customers. At worst this broker is just lazy. I've been able to work with a number of other agents who went out of their way to understand my needs. The sad (or good) part about brokers (all brokers, not just insurance) who don't take the time to get to know potential clients is that they don't get any business. In my case, I'm responsible for over 100K worth of insurance spend per year both personally and for business. I buy liability, property, workers comp, B&O, automobile insurance so I'm well worth a smart broker's time. Additionally, since my wife works at a rather large Seattle software company with a big local service providers msg board I can warn others about wasting their time with Carriage. So much for a 51 year legacy of service. Sorry, Chuck.
