I can't take 2 weeks off for extended vacations away from my work and my family caregiver obligations. So, I've made a commitment to myself to treat myself to an appointment every 2-3 weeks at Allure. Allure has been my go-to nail spa experience for over 8 years, and with recent management/ownership changes...you won't want to go anywhere else. Hands down, Nolan, Jenny, and Mai and the staff are the best...from the warmest welcome, to fond farewell...from beautiful, artistic manicures (be sure to try a gorgeous "Cat Eye" effect Gel Nail" manicure (absolutely beautiful...with colors as professional and subtle or as bold, as you like) to a "Pedi-in-a-Box" Pedicure ("Cucumber" scent is my favorite), and a large menu of other spa services that will leave you feeling wonderfully pampered and relaxed, you won't be disappointed. I love the cheerful location; the soft, relaxing music; the comfortable, environment; beautiful service from a very caring, professional staff who are consistently focused on anticipating and meeting clients' needs...Allure and the staff are special. I've never written a review on Yelp, but I've been fighting a terrible ingrown toenail since getting a pedicure here in March (6 months ago). I have never had an ingrown toenail before from a salon pedicure. I asked my nail technician to please not cut down into the corners of my toenails and to cut straight across (which is Rule #1 for avoiding ingrown nails). He more or less rolled his eyes at me, blatantly ignored me and did so anyways. Within a few days it became infected and I had the symptoms of a severe ingrown toenail.I've had to go to the doctor more than 3 times since and have paid for 2 prescriptions to keep the symptoms and infection at bay. I had had average experiences at Allure before, but I'm obviously absolutely livid about this experience in particular. My technician was rude and obnoxious to begin with, but to ignore someone's wishes and insist that you know what's best for his or her body is on another level from anything else I've experienced at this salon or elsewhere. Do not go here and DEFINITELY do not get a pedicure here. Regardless of the manicure quality, the women at Luxury Nail Spa just down the street are at the very least MUCH kinder and more considerate. read more

I have visited Allure Nail Spa on and off for the last several years and in the past found it to be" just average". HOWEVER, the spa is now under new management and the owners have made wonderful changes for the clients. The new decor is peaceful and understated, the cleanliness of the spa is impeccable, even the music is relaxing! The nail artists are friendly and talented, and the atmosphere is happy. The operators enjoy conversing with the customers, and make an effort to provide a personal touch. This is not an assembly line nail studio! They are offering new services including a pedicure with aromatic fragrances, hot stones and heavenly leg and feet massages. They even dispense water or wine, if you're interested. It is clear that the new owners want to make your time at Allure Nail Spa be the very best experience it can be, and have taken steps to accomplish that goal. I have been going to Allure since they opened. Sometimes I have an appointment, sometimes not. Kathy, Ty and the whole staff are outrageoulsy friendly, helpful and do fantastic work. I have recommended them to several of my friends and they are never disappointed. If I come in and something isn't right, I just politley say so and they bend over backwards to fix it. Kathy's business sense makes her natural at what she does. The place can get busy fast - especially given the proximity to Duke campus. They take it all in stride and try to serve everyone's needs. They have a wide selection of nail colors and do other "spa stuff" too. Parking-- while it looks tricky--really isn't once you get the hang of it. Plus, you are in a spot to go get great food or coffee and really treat yourself right. I'm so glad I took a chance on this new business! read more

Thank goodness for Allure and Kathy!!! I had a botched acrylic overlay done at a different nail salon, and after having a conversation with Kathy explaining what had happened, she scheduled my appointment at my earliest convenience (the very next day!). WOW, what a difference - she turned my nails from hideous to beautiful! She was so friendly, knowledgeable, gentle, quick, and talented, and the salon itself is very relaxing, clean, and well-kept.
